Itagaki is still as arrogant as ever:

I am also not good-natured enough to call something that doesn't even support online fighting in the year 2005 a fighting game.

as arrogant as it is. He did raise the bar with DOAU and it's flawless online play. I play DOAU and SFAE alot on Xbox LIVE and with 8 people in a session, all the talking, all the extra crap happening on screen with the backgrounds and finally the characters moving around getting input from the players, a session can be absolutely flawless with ZERO LAG for hours. I can play SFAE and in like 5 minutes get a match that lags up a few times in that single match. The bar has been raised and if VF5 or any next generation 3D fighting game can't deliver some type of decent online play. I think Itagaki has every right to make that statement(I mean the above quote. I don't agree care about anything else he said. Just the above quote from him.) He can back it up just by turning on DOAU if anyone wants to see. Yea the game can't compare to VF at all. But, that's no excuse for anyone to ignore what he achieved. For the last few years everyone has been complaining saying 3D games can't be done online. Your ping has to be like this, this blah blah has to be like that, etc, etc. This guy sits down with his team and really gets into it, said he would do it, and delivered it.

You're right Konjou. I believe the next gen fightinggames following will either grow or diminish greatly further based on how good their online play is. It's not something to be taken lightly.

    DOA Online

The guy is still a jackass in my opinion.

DOA online is far from perfect. Leaving aside the terrible laggy matches, there are times when I know that I reversed or blocked low at the last instant and it didn't come out because of the couple frame delay. Even this much lag would be pretty terrible for VF where there is more emphasis on fuzzy blocking, precise execution and whatnot.

Funny thing about DOA is that some of its weaknesses (slower moves, generous window for reversals etc.) make it better suited for online play than probably any other fighter. That said, the little weirdo should stop boasting. AM2 destroys Team Ninja. That's ok. AM2 is the best. But when Itagaki starts boasting, he just reveals himself as a bufoon who does not even grasp his place in the fighting game design heirarchy.
