Sorry to hear you are having some trouble beating the Ninjas. When Knocked over a median, you need to start SE immediately. It takes Hayabusa 120+ frames to get behind you, and hayate 110+ frames to get behind. By the time it takes them to get behind you, you should have recoverd and ready to attack. Hope that helps. see you soon bro.

I just recently got onto Xbox Live and have been playing DOA for the past couple days. My experience so far shouts two things--

    1. I now understand why AM2 stubbornly insists on flat boring stages. The slopes, danger zones, objects in the middle of the stage...they piss me off like crazy when they get in the way of gameplay. It's fine playing against the CPU but when playing against human opponents...argh. I am constantly looking for the Tatami stage (btw how does one get that stage for selection? Do I have to unlock it first?)

    2. Lag is the worst thing in the world. I thought I get pissed off with bad sticks, but lag is by far the most frustrating thing. Missed combos, attacks that don't appear, command input error, opponents being able to see what you're doing because of lag and reacting on the fly...lag destroys gameplay.

All that said, I'd still probably want VF to go online. As much as laggy DOA on those annoying stages piss me off, I'm still playing it. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif It says a lot about the lure of competition.

Wait until an animal races across the screen, hits you, kills you, and costs you a match that you were about to win.

    P.S.

Might I add that the animal will be moving so fast that you can hardly see it.

I'd made a post that got eaten in the recent foul-up, but I'll re-cap briefly:

Jeff: while I think the stages in DOA4 are annoying as well, I think they're a far cry from something like VF3's stages, which I though worked well in the context of that game. I also hate things like the cheetah (which hit me out of a multipart throw once...) and the slopes that cause huge tumbling damage, but I think some of the stages are great, moreso in DOAU, and they look gorgeous.

I think it's important to remember these stages are designed to work with the way the characters in DOA function, IE attacks that knock players back over huge distances etc. I hated having one attack send someone flying, turning 30 points into sometimes half the bar (see DOAU's great wall stage), and I also hated how during this tumbling time you aren't playing. But, conversely, I think things like the slope throws are cool.

I think if we could play VF on those stages, we'd probably like them more. I think there's still a lot of promise in the varried terrain concept.

The stages are apart of the gameplay. This is why you have free step ([8],[2], and [7],[1] to free step and block at the same time)that allow you to easily manuever around your environment.

Why do people complain about this, when you can turn this feature off.?

Oh, to unlock the tatami stage, you need to get all the characters and their costumes.

Then tell me why hardcore players in offline play leave it in? /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They didn't turn off the feature at ECC and I saw you and your DOA4 friends play with the feature on at W2Z on two seperate dates. /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have no problems with multi-tiered stages or hoppable barriers but the random hazards really make me turn my head away as if the game stinks. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

VF3 had the subway hazard but that is easily avoidable. The cars on the city strip in DOA4 might run on a pattern; I don't know for sure but I doubt it. But what about the stages with wild animals moving about freely? /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'm sorry, I want to play this game but I can't take DOA4 as a serious fighter when to me the majority of players insist on leaving the feature in and saying "It's part of the gameplay. Deal with it." /versus/images/graemlins/deadpan.gif

Actually the only way to get hit by a train was voluntary action. You had to use a TA attack and dash for the train (barely catching it... ha! a funny! CATCHING THE TRAIN! ALOLOL#$$... ahem) It was an easter egg since there is absolutely no other way one could be hit by it. (They fly by during the opening of the round)

and it left you with one point of health lol, and if wolf runs with you and does a nicely timed running shoulder, THEN it would kill you. it was a nice easter egg indeed, VF4 is boring in the easter egg department, i dont know any. /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It tells you while you are scrolling over the stages(the ones with moving Danger zones). It prompts you to click the (y) button.

Shag, The reasons we kept it on, was to see how much it did effect gameplay, but as of right now, they are no longer going to be allowed in tournaments. And Yes, These danger zones do have a consistent pattern.

    Edit

Hope to see you guys at Evo /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I guess a pretty depressing number of people showed up at Evo West for DOA4 - something like a dozen people. What's most depressing about this, though, is that the dozen people who did show up would grossly outnumber the people that would show up to a VF tourney; hence, it wasn't included.

yep, it's too bad that the VF players have dropped the ball w/ regards to Evo, Evo 2k3 was one of the highlights of my VF life.

There's really nothing one could have done save GO if they fucking had the game. We would have went had there been any VF, but they chose to axe it this time around. Not our fault. They tried pushing for us to produce FT, but you know what man? There's money involved - lots of it. People wanted to immediately point the blame at NYC crew as the reason why there was no FT (and consequently no VF) at Evo, but damn man can't people understand that all this shit carries risk + $$$? On top of that we weren't able to pry FT from AI either. It's something of a lost cause when the persons holding the event demand something we simply cannot produce.

Edited: Let me not be disrespectful, because they at least hosted us for 2 years, but after that they gave up on us.

Look at the humoungous turn out for De-evoluncion. That was our Evo2k.
