For me personaly, it helps a lot with my input speed.

And yea, trying to throw the cpu is pointless for me, they always escape it and/or if I happen to catch em with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif they just struggle out of it so fast they could evade my double palm, or if it's Aoi she could counter it. It's insane how fast they can struggle out. Speaking of Aoi, she just straight kicks my ass, it's almost like they know what i'm going to do because it takes x amount of time to input my move and they know it's coming and respond accordingly. Hence the reason I feel it helps with my input speed.

For kicks, if your person has a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif cancel, do it and watch what the cpu does lol. On Masters and higher anyways.

Yeah, high level AI opponents will not be fooled by G-canceled combos, but vs. human opponents it can be extremely effective.

    Two quick examples:
Aoi's PPPSweep~cancel into low throw can be evil.

Sarah's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif into flamingo mix-ups. I'm almost embarrased to use this sometimes. You're canceling a full circular mid into a catch throw or potential crumple combo. Your opponent has approximately 15 frames to react properly. That's not enough time, when someone uses it against me.

Yep, its a nasty mixup. I think it should be possible to interrupt though since the first kick hits normal high too.

I don't mean like in the middle of a combo or trying to fool em with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to throw or anything. Just when yall are at a decent distance if you just do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif the cpu goes all crazy, evading, backdashing or some other weird stuff. I just think it's funny how they react so quickly as if the kick was really coming out.

There's something about that setup though, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was how I was able to get out of it every single time you tried it when we had played few months ago.

If you guess he is gonna fake it, its easy to get out of. However if the first kick, like, staggers, its a whole other kind of ballgame. not to mention that youre a sarah player like me, so you know what the options are /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Its definitely a strong mixup against the uninitiated.

My opinion of the 360 version's Quest Mode is that the AI is highly variable. You can improve a great deal against some opponents, but others just read your inputs. The AI has really improved in some respects from VF4:Evo. For one, they will actually escape from low throws now. The difference in playing styles also vary more in the 360 version of VF5, but I don't think that you see enough of certain play styles unfortunately.

I think that the AI consistently acts like a human in some respects, such as when it will try to use 2P. Unfortunately, the AI generally will block lows with great consistency, so you can't use them like you would against most humans. I personally think that you should play both the AI on expert and human opponents. Both will develop your game in different ways.

But for instance the AI will NEVER block Akiras /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif catchthrow followups, any of the 3. There are certain things that arent programmed into the AI. Abusing these things will allow you to fare much better against the AI compared to even moderate human opponent. Yet computer is obscenely good in certain things like 'reaction speed' to G-cancels etc.. Its just too biased for my taste.

What about Quest mode on Normal? I personally find it to be fairly challenging (then again I'm not going for tournament level play). I have an 84% win rate with it and online (though it's been forever since I've been able to play online), I win a little more than half the time- 51-53%.

Go Jacky and do iageri over and over again, even on the hardest difficulty you'll win every match. I beat the conquerer Kage by doing that.

The CPU actively seeks to get CH.

I find quest as a great way to test you game against skilled competition without playing online. I am decent with it. I have 2 characters ranked as a Paladin and I have beaten quite a few conquerors on expert as well. It is one of the best single player modes I have ever played in any fighting game so far.

I think it makes you throw escape so much that it becomes habit, and this is good. Also, they seem to abuse a string until you defend it properly. Like Jabing Eileen out of the air is awesome, you can be creative with that ish.

The CPU tends to be balanced, using a variety of techniques instead of actually trying to figure you out. It doesn't "remember" what works and sticks with it. Play against human opponents who spam what you're not good at defending against to get better. Quest Mode opponents don't provide enough incentives to break bad habits. For instance, you can tech roll from FDFA often without problems.

If you want some good practice in Quest Mode, huppummies spams Goh's [6][6][P][+][G]. When you adapt, the AI doesn't, giving you more of an opportunity to practice working your defense against it.

To me it seems to reward things like ETEG and fuzzy guard and has been a useful tool in improving these techniques. Doing them in dojo isn't quite enough and it's useful to practice these techs in a match of some sort.
Quest isn't perfect by any means but if you play to improve and learn rather than just play to win by abusing stuff it can't handle, i think it will help your game.
