By the way, I give the game a huge thumbs up. It is an awesome, Tolkienesque pastiche that puts all the fantasy shit back together in a fun and really fleshed out way.

Obviously disregard this if you have never been down with wizards and elves.

An awesome new franchise, in my opinion.

A high dex rogue is actually quite survivable because of the ability to avoid taking hits. So I don't know what are you getting at ...

High cunning with the right abilies is a bit silly too.

Yeah, like winning a one-on-one duel near the endgame in seconds. I'm tempted to reload and respec my rogue because of it.

Heres some strategy I'm using now adays to make fighting a large number opponents MUCH easier-

    1. Morrigans freezing moves + shattering moves- ANY regular white-named enemy can be killed very quickly by freezing followed by a shattering move. I usually use either winter's grasp or cone of cold, and petrify lately to solidify enemies. Then I use Wynne's stonefist which ALWAYS shatters all white-named enemies (INSTANT KILL NO MATTER THERE HP). I also am a 2h warrior main and any of his auto-critical moves also shatter like mighty blow(I think thats the name anyway). I'm pretty sure other auto-critical moves also shatter and this makes mobs SO MUCH easier to kill. Freezing in general is great since its basically a long stun too.

    2. Sleep- Sleep is amazingly good for crowd control, its basically a super long stun and it has HUGE area and you can easily move your guys around so they aren't affected.

    3. Blizzard+Earthquake= Constant ice damage+constant falling down= enemies fucked. Add in a optional Waking Nightmare and the few seconds the enemy will have to attack, they'll attack each other.

    For Boss type creatures (Dragons/Revenant)-

In order to deal with powerful boss type enemies like revenants and giant dragons I usually just have my main (2h warrior) tanking with resistive gear and everyone else using ranged attacks. I usually have leilana with bow and morrigan and wynne casting spells but in cases where I can't use morrigan I use Zephr(Or whatever the blonde assassin elf rogue you meet is called) with a bow. For the huge dragon you fight without morrigan (spoilers so im not going into more detail who it is), make sure you keep your tank with above 75% hp AT ALL TIMES. The dragon will pick up the tank and start flailing him around in the air, this will do MASSIVE MASSIVE damage and your tank won't be able to take potions during it, so make sure the tank has high hp AT ALL TIMES in case the dragon starts the mouth throw, and try to heal the tank while the throw is still going with spells.

The freezing spells are what make the Mages so powerful.

Just got a new sword for my guy, it's called Yusaris.

I've not put any runes in it yet (2 slots) but here are its stats:

    Greatsword, Two-handed
    Silverite (Tier 6)
    Requires 34 Strength
    16.50 Damage
    2.25% Crit chance
    5.25 Armour Penetration
    1.10 Str modifier
    +20% Fire resistance
    +10 Damage vs Dragons

Don't know what Runes to put in it yet, any suggestions?

That's the sword you get in the Circle Tower ground floor after beating that quest monster, right?

I just usually put Grandmaster Flame runes in for the 5+ damage and the flame effect. Lighting and Frost have the same effect.

    Yeah, that's the one, Ash.

What differences are there between the flame, lightning and frost effects?

Not much as far as I know. I don't think the Frost ones can freeze and the flame ones can burn, instead they just do more damage against enemies with low resistance to those elements.

    I thought as much.

I just figured from what you said that they had other effecs, but I see now that you meant the aesthetic effect it gives.

I'm nt sure what enemies are weak to what but I do have a grandmaster frost rune and a grandmaster flame rune, I reckon I'll use both of them and then switch one out where applicable.

I have to +10 damage to darkspawn one as well. Although, I couldn't tell you the last time I came across a darkspawn.

Really? I actually thought that they would give "burn" and "freeze" effects. I'm wondering now. Do lightning runes in weapons make them hurt an enemy's mana/stamina just like normal lightining spells?
I think it's universal for lightning dmg, isn't it?

    Just doing Orzammar now.

Finished the proving, it was surprisingly easy.

The other fights you can do were a little harder but because I had Morrigan it was just a case of using cone of cold straight off the bat to freeze all of them each fight then take out their 'star player'.

Found a new sword from a Dragon in Orzammar.

    It's called Ageless
    Greatsword
    Silverite (Tier 6)
    Requires 34 strength
    Damage: 16.50
    Crit chance: 2.25%
    Piercing: 5.25
    Strength modifier: 1.10

    Weakens Nearby Darkspawn
    Messy Kills
    +4 Damage vs. Darkspawn
    Increases Hostility and Intimidation
    +0.25 Stamina Regeneration in Combat]

I can't wait to see what this 'Messy Kills' thing is all about. More gore I imagine.

Just beat the High Dragon. I don't know if what I have is good (equipment) or if I used the best tactic possible, but what do I care.

For me keeping my 2H Warrior in front along with Alistair, while Wynne and Moriggan were shooting their stick-lights :)D) at the dragon, sometimes an offensive spell and shit load of healing ones worked quite well [IMG] Only Alstair died and only once (used Revival of course). Lifeward, 2 mages with Healing spell each, Group Healing by Wynne and an occasional Regenerate worked great.
It's not spoiler when I say you can buy infinite lyrium and bottles in Circle of Magi, so be sure to have a lot of those nice blue potions.
Other than that, offensive spells like: Arcane Bolt, Lightining, Stonefist, and most of all: Crushin Prison help a lot.
A tricky thing to do is have alistair use Taunt and cast Force Field on him. The dragon focuses on him only sometimes hitting the second Tank/melee DPS You have there. If You are using a character with 2H weapons (like mine) I can't imagine how You could NOT use Yusaris the Dragon Slayer [IMG]

Well... that's what I did. The fight went on for exactly 12 minutes, mostly due to pausing a lot. Believe me if You will, it's not THAT hard.

'Tis true what has been spoken before by others, that game is awesome! [IMG]
