Everyone's downloaded the various commercials from the official sites right? I'm inferring that they advertised both VF4 and Evo on TV in japan, that's something.

SC2 is a good game, but i don't know if i would rate it a "10" or anything. Honestly, i don't really like it all that well... but that's just me. I actualy enjoyed DOA3 more. I know, don't say it. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

SC2 *is* sort of scrub-friendly. I mean, that's why there's so many people walking around talking about how they "mastered" a SC2 character. But that's not really the reason i don't like it. It feels... i dunno... dumbed-down. I like being able to move while blocking and charging, but i hate what Namco did with parrying/impacting. It's like they couldn't think of anything else to add to the game besides wall flattening. Well, there's that plus a whole host of problems about which people are probably already sick of me complaining.

I loved SC, but SC2 was a disappointment for me. Probably just spoiled by AM2. But i think probably the worst thing that happened to the SC series was the perfect 10 scores it received in the press... Namco took the "change as little as possible" attitude towards SC2, so as to sort of ride the wave of SC1 sales into 2004. Yeah, i guess you could use the only 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' excuse, which is great if you're dealing with a wristwatch or something. When it comes to a videogame series, however, i believe it's imperative that the game stay fresh. And that means adding more to your game than redone stages.

On topic: I'm glad Evo's getting 9.5's and such. I don't want AM2 getting complacent with perfect 10's or being afraid to alter their game the way Namco apparently is. I don't want VF becoming Madden Football (if you catch my meaning).

Lol, you should edit that before you lose all respect man. You should've posted something like : ''I prefer hand to hand combat over weapons...'' Lol DOA 3 !!!???? Not even worth arguing over.

True, true but think about it, is that really a flaw ?

Lol and the irony is so flagrant that I don't even want to point it out but I'll give you a hint : "I actually prefer DOA 3 more". Lol Sorry man I had to.

Tell you what, find a scrub who plays lets say Cervantes and an experienced player who plays almost every character but decides to pick Kilik and tell them $100 to the first one who gets 15 wins and for an added incentive $50 more to the one who doesn't get ringed out once. Who would you bet your money on ?

What's wrong with that it could be worse, imagine guys walking around talking about how they mastered Zack Lol. (I can't diss Jann Lee and Hayabusa though. Their da shit !!) I trully hope they fix the fighing engine for DOA4.

I dunno where to begin on this one ? What's wrong with parrying and guard impact Lol ? Aeon you're crazy man crazy !! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Guess you prefer what Tecmo did with reversals in DOA 3 Lol.

[/ QUOTE ] To tell you the truth I got spoiled too but to me SC2 is far from a "dissappointment" c'mon man.

Big changes doesn't always = to great. Namco added enough to make me buy it. But like you said before you're probably (too) spoiled by Am2 and it's just isn't enough for you and that's fine but saying SC2 is a "disapointment" and "I prefer DOA 3" Lol.

Yep totally true but remember SC was way ahead of it's time so I guess now other fighting games have finally caught up and in Evo's case surpassed it by a slim margin but that still doesn't mean it shouldn't get props and respect from the media. It's HIGHLY anticipated, Evo isn't (that still doesn't make it a better game than Evo ) so ofcourse the medias will cover it more.

Yeah I know what you mean but I got to get Madden 2004 no matter how diabolocal EA may be, I just must.

Cervy, Mitsu, Yoshi, Kilik - those are your top 4.

Well, i probably like SC2 more than i'm letting on... and DOA3 *is* among the elite of scrub-friendly 3D fighters, you're right...

I guess i was partly upset about some slowdown, and the inclusion of Necrid and Charade, among other things. I also dislike how you can't parry high attacks or GI low attacks. The latter sort of makes practical sense, but the former is a head scratcher... sure, GI/parry is easier to do now, but i still don't like changes that take away options or control.

All that said, i *was* disappointed when i first played SC2. I *wasn't* when i played DOA3... but i guess that's all about expectations. So yeah, you make a point.

Oh, as an aside, you might want to take a look at ESPN football this year before you drop your money on Madden. Unless, of course, you're like me and will buy them both anyway. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yeah, the commercials were for VF4 and Evo, but they were only televised in Japan, (and were also available for free download online). Also, AM2 made trailers, in Japanese, but several American game sites still mirror the files today. Although, what is the point of a trailer when you release the game along side FFX-2? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I also explored around SoE's Evo promo's, and not only did they give away shirts, but they also gave away free copies of Evo from a random drawing.

They things that Sega is doing for America are: 10th ann. on Evo disc, $20.00, and the pitiful booth at E3, and ads in magazines. Anyone think of more?? /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

DOA vs SCII vs VF etc.

The Dead or Alive game series is better than any other. That's a fact.

Virtua Fighter's characters are ugly and the chicks look like they're on steroids. The fighting is also choppy. Enviroments are really good-looking in VF4 and the graphics are also really great but DOA's are just way more better cuz of those X-Box graphics features.

Dead or Alive has the most fluid-like, fast-paced and smooth fighting engine. The characters all look very handsome and beautiful (except for Bass and Gen Fu, haha). There's heavy interaction with each fighting enviroment and oh my gosh the graphics are pretty. Back-stories for characters are kinda stale but so are every other fighting games'. Most importantly, Tomonobu Itagaki (the creator of DOA) makes the biggest and coolest improvements with each DOA game that comes out. I can't even imagine how great DOA Online or DOA Code: Cronus will be. To those that dunno, DOA Code: Cronus isn't even a fighting game, and I am retarded.

These are just facts that I had to state.

    Best ps2 fighting game.

you guys seriously...vf4 is not very...what is the word...flashy. It kinda comes off lame to me thats why I think its funny that you guys say its the best fighting game. I know its one of the deepest fighting games but seriously just because its DEEP doesnt mean its the best.

Yea... but all that stuff is just useless forum posts from fan boys. If you really want to laugh, just read some of Itagaki's interviews about how VF has taken steps BACK technologically compared to the DOA series.

I laughed for a while after reading that.

I just came back from the mall, and decided to visit the Electronic's Boutique /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As soon as I saw the store entrance, there was a cardboard stand for a game, non other than (if you think it is Evo you are wrong /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) Soul Calibur II /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif(!!)

When I further went into the store, I realized that there were three stands total, for PS2, X-Box, GC.

In addition to that, there were also posters, and another cardboard stand that said somethings like, get a free T-shirt and/or art cell of Link with your purchase of SCII.

This shows that even if people have not played (or heard of SC), they are most likely going to know about #2...........as for Evo................
