Myke seriously needs to lock/delete this thread. It's a rather pointless flamefest that should have been kept confined to the private message system or IRC. It brings about a bad impression of the community for newcomers and, as far as I can tell, no good can (has) come of it.

I understand you wanted to give him a "taste of his own medecine", but why stoop to his level? Why drag the rest of the community into this? If you wanted people to understand the situation should you be forced to ban him later on, then make a thread after the ban explaining the situation.

I dunno...maybe I'm speaking out of line? Bah, whatever, that's my 2¢.

This has what to do with what exactly?

1. Just because they can ignore it doesn't mean they always have the foreknowledge to do so. A thread by Myke titled "EmX, just ask me?" doesn't exactly foreshadow this flame-baiting shit.

2. That still doesn't excuse Myke for posting this crap on a PUBLIC forum for the VF community. I'm not trying to shit on Myke or anything, I'm just trying to see what good can come of it. We talk about having a welcoming environment for newcomers (thus Shang's ban) and yet we make this clearly hostile thread? I just don't see the logic. This stuff needs to stay in the private message system/IRC cause it certainly doesn't belong here.

Again, that's just my 2¢.

 

Oh, I know that, which is why I asked "why stoop to his level". Again, any other place, I'd totally support Myke in this. IRC, or another forum, it's all good. But VFDC is supposed to represent a welcoming environment for new players and I don't see how Myke could have possibly foreseen the fact that this wouldn't have turned into a flame thread.

I played EMX on XBL twice the other day and he just stood there blocking. His win % was 44. I would say that he lost on purpose, but that doesn't make much sense. Why play then? As a protest match? Huh? What is being protested? Is it that if he obviously doesn't try against someone decent, he can't feel like really lost?

Maybe EMX can explain.
