Even if he doesn't know the game he is doing well. Especially when it comes to showing the replay on G4tv.

Great way to promote the game Capcom and G4

By the way in September of this year there is going to be EVO.Japan so be on the lookout for that.

Edit: Harada was going around with a translator asking people from Tekken what they wanted to see from Namco. People suggested training mode with record function, better online netcode, arcade ports of all versions of each iteration.

Meanwhile it takes Sega a 500 page petition to merely say "we are unsure of the home market". [IMG]

I was not surprised Daigo won when gamerbee failed...

Exactly, it's amazing how much further other companies are willing to go. They even have Markman as a liaison between Namco and the US Tekken community. To Namco Tekken is 1 of their flagship games and VF isn't for Sega anymore.

to Namco, North America equals a market worth pursuing - To Sega it never has. Sega can still consider VF their flagship game and yet never ever care about markets outside of Japan.

Over Sonic though? Tekken seems to be Namco's biggest game whereas Sega seem to have broader range of successful games among which VF can get lost in. If it is still viewed as one of their key games then it's reassuring that the VF series won't end anytime soon.

I'm gonna visit the Sega office near me and DEMAND they visit SVB with a promo of VF5FS and side tourney. Their response will likely be "what's Virtua Fighter?"

    No, that's where you're wrong.

    They'd ask:
    "What's Virtual Fighter?"

    Report of Evo
    http://shoryuken.com/content/evo2k10-tournament-log-master-giby-1215/

Mentions VF a couple of times. Melty Blood community got their game in the Evo lineup. Tekken 6 not very well accepted apparently.

Wonder what Evo Japan is all about and will it make Sega wake up about Evo? If it's console based then VF won't be in that lineup either.

I do hope that this does make Sega promote VF more and support the fans outside of Japan. It would be even better if we saw a few arcade machines come to the US/EU like we did with SF4.

    From that report
"Tekken 6 followed HDR, and once it was announced, people started clearing out of the room. Tekken 6 still doesn’t seem to be well accepted by the majority of the fighting game community. Tekken will not be leaving Evo anytime soon, with how large the community is and, it’s still the only 3D fighter that gets plenty of action in the US. Will things change next year if Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown comes out on console?"

Is Tekken not popular their because they don't like T6 or because the Evo crowd just hate 3d fighters? They weren't keen on SC4 last year either. What kind of reception did VF get in the years that it was held there? The finals of 2004 seemed to get a fair bit of hype.

Anyone still here go in 2007 for VF5? That was it's last showing at Evo.

I am not sure which Evo it was, but the best VF tourney at EVO was the one where Chibita, Homestay, a famous Japanese Jacky player, and the main SBO announcer came out. The top 8 matches were announced in Japanese.

Best part was soon after the tourney we all met up in someone's apartment and played all night with high level japanese players.

    So long ago...

The evo crowd this year is probably way different than it was in previous years. The presumption that Tekken is a homogeneous and shallow game by SF newbs is pretty common.

SF4 has pretty much taken over. Even on the streams they're all like this game is a mashers game etc.. when does SF4 start etc... times have changed.

Dunno, I would say the crowed overall felt the same. There's always one large capcom game the majority is there for and they seem quite content with being ignorant on other fighters. At one point it was CvS2, another 3S, now it just happens to be a much, much larger scale with 4.

I agree though with this year being filled with upsets and surprises. Tekken as ShinobiFist mentioned was pretty dang crazy. I too forgot who put Holeman into losers/took him out, but know one match he lost was to Crow (second time in a US major now?).

I'm thankful TvC had a great set of matches in the finals minus a select few matches. Even players who didn't know a thing about the game enjoyed them. HDR was insane, especially grand finals. Tekken was way fun to watch even with the lopsidded grand finals (It's ok R.I.P. everyone still has mad respect for you after the Arping ; : lol)

I have some friends who decided to stop going to EVO though, after this year. Comparing it to a "meat grinder" in how it was ran. I felt it was just nature of the beast with that many players, but maybe it's cause I chose not to go to my SSF4 pools to avoid the waiting game lol.

I belive it was QDogg who contributed to Holeman being eliminated (Chreddy player.)
