Who claimed PS2 Evo would look better, or indeed the same as the Naomi 2 version? That's not what we're discussing here - at least as far as I'm aware.

The point is, how will it fare against PS2 VF4? Will Evo be a big improvement? Will the textures be improved, or the lighting? Blah, blah, blah....

Incidentally, that's clearly an early shot (probably post alpha, pre-beta) and I'd expect a good few improvements before release. And already it's loooking sweet!

Anyway, away with your constant negativity and bias against PS2, it's tiring and boring.

Honestly, I am dying just for a chance to get my hands on any version of Evo. For people not from NYC or Cali or Japan, this will be our ONLY chance to play Evolution. Sega arcade mentions it's domestic release in the states, but again, I havn't seen it in AZ.

I'll be happy with any form of Evo, really, discrepancies or not. We VF fans in my apartment complex were not exposed to Evo yet (outside the Green Book, perfect guide, and LOTSA movies), so we won't have a prestandard against the arcade,-just the VF4 arcade and PS2 version; and that can only be a good thing. Looks are fleeting, but as long as control is down pat (who's doubting AM2 here?), I've got nothing to complain about what I've seen in the pics, really.

  5. First off, what the hell is the post icon i just used supposed to be?

And second, since I'm kinda new to this whole fight genre, I still don't really get what the fuss is about. You pick characters, you fight, you get better, you gloat, etc., etc.

And third, as long as we are talking about graphics(I don't pay much attention to them anyways(not to mention I'm a really bad judge of them)) I think that DOA2: Hardcore was probably the best looking game I've seen /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif (or was everyone moving so fast i couldn't tell?), and what the hell is BA?

<random_thought>Does a maniac question his sanity? or if he questions his sanity, is he no longer insane? How does one know if they are sane? Can only another person tell you? and what if they're insane? How could they tell if you were insane or not? Are they sane enough to tell? Damn, I just confused myself./<random_thought>

  6. BG:DA, my mistake. . .

<random_thought> Am I going to do this random thought thing forever? WTF? Am I going to randomly lose random thoughts? Or will people mind if i use the same ones over and over? DAMN THIS WORLDS STANDARDS!!!/<random_thought>

Well that's the thing. Many have already taken for granted that gameplay will be perfect so, the only thing we can debate is the graphical detail. Speaking of which:

Sarah's 1P costume textures seem to be faithful to the arcade now (where as before she had a poor PVC glossy look to her catsuit). A picture within a daytime stage would confirm this.

Yet Sarah's six pack doesn't seem to be noticeable (though I'm completely accepting of the possibility that it's yet to be implemented). And unfortunately, for some reason known only to AM2, Sarah's 2P shoes are still the same horrible diarrhoea brown that were in the past home conversion. Even though, in the arcade, her shoes are black.

Absolutely! As long as gameplay is intact, I'll be over-the-moon with whatever level of graphical polish AM2 throw at me. Mind you...it's still fun discussing the possibility of arcade-perfection on PS2, no matter how unrealistic this may be.

I'm looking on the Evo port like I would a DVD release of a great movie. The gameplay is the movie itself, and all the visual polish, just DVD extras that make your purchase that little bit more valuable.

now, i'm not the only one who noticed, but Sarah also has a pantyline in her 1p costume. I hope that's in the game. /versus/images/icons/crazy.gif The character shadows are also vastly improved over the orignal PS2 version. I hope AM2 pumps out bigger, hi-res pics like Smilebit pumps out with Panzer Orta so we can truly see the details.

Hi, just so you know, we really don't care about your random thoughts, and in fact this board is a quite inappropriate forum for them. I'd suggest something like Livejournal or another blogging service for your "I need to share my profound thinking with the world" needs.

Err..if panty lines is what you would like to see, I think you are in the wrong game dude. Try DOA3..bounces, panties, more bounces, more panties...yah, you get wat i mean /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

I mean, not that I noticed or anything, but who wouldn't want a 100% port.

On a more serious note, I think AM2 should consider more costumes instead of just having 2 that you can change color, and add items. That would be really cool for home "extras."

What would be unreally cool are VF2 & VF3 costumes, but not the exact player models like the VF1, but in VF4 updated form.

after seeing the ps2 evo movie that was recently posted by another "number" guy... forgot his/her handle; I'm even more eager to get my hands on the final version.

I just hope the intro is in real-time, unlike the compressed video we got in ver.C. The video even shows ligthing in Wolf's stage- light blocked by the spinning fan; something not seen by me in ver.C. Should be interesting what's in and what's not, and who's gonna whine or praise when the final comes along.

I don't know if this topic has been covered already or not, but I want to know how everyone is going to play the import of VF4 Evo. I think I'm getting a mod chip but is anyone just geting a Japanese PS2 or is everyone leaning towards modding the PS2? I found a cool "no-solder" PS2 mod chip for like $25 but you have to get a boot disc. Better than messing with the mother board of the PS2 I guess...
