I realize this is off topic but what about MoAT? I just think it would be nice if one of the VF only gatherings that have been round forever got support from people in the VF4 and VF4 evo scene. For many people, it probably wouldn't be as out in the cut as a trip to California. Don't get me wrong, I want to go to both and my friends and I are all ready heading to MoAT. Just that Evo is the ex-factor being in California and all but I guarantee that if there is some way for me to get there, I will be there. MoAT page

The way I see it, it's that way for everyone. Few people have the money to go to the otherside of the country just for a tourney. I'm no exception; otherwise, I probably would've been at one a long time ago.

This is my very first tourney, and I'm going for certain reasons.
      1. It's in the same state that I live in.
      2. It's the largest tournament yet in the U.S...the U.S equivalent to SBO.
      3. When people in the U.S want to include VF in their game lineup, I think it's only wise to show support. They (the tourney coordinators) could take the attitude that most arcades take; "few people even like this game, so why even bother including it". In this case, they didn't think like that, and given the fact that it's close to home, I'm taking Friday off of whatever summer job I have and going to this event.

But of course, that's just me. I don't, and never will blame anybody who doesn't consider it because it's either too far, too expensive, or both.

Either way you look at it, it's a courtesy thing. You can attend the longest running VF only gathering and support it because it's the longest running VF only gathering. You can also attend the largest fighting game tournament because it's the largest fighting game tournament. The only difference is in the largest fighting game tournament there's a greater desire to represent.

Hotel accomodations are being arranged. Castel on TZ mentioned a possibility of having $20/night per person for rooms of 4. They are trying to reserve space for people in this "Shilo Inn". I'm just bringing the word over here for anybody interested.

      The link is here .

I appreciate the link, if I go ahead with my own wishes (which I will barring acts of God), I will see you at Evo 2k3. I want to show support for the most misunderstood game this side of Japan. "Given the wishes of any one man, the world rises and falls in the blink of an eye."

the player list got updated and moved up to only 36
How come no one from Flordia and New York is Representing !! Even if your're thinking about going sign up, VF looks really weak right now. I mean when your getting your butt kicked by super street fighter turbo. . . cmon people.

I don't see lots of familiar names among 36 ppl.

Eventhough I am one of those ppl who are not going to

make this tourney, it is still kinda sad to see how small

      VF4 scene is.

Yeah, that does suck. But they shouldn't sign up unless they're sure they're going. Doing that throws off the tourney coordinators, and screws up the prize/attendance estimates. I already recognize a few fake names, and people on other boards talking like they're still thinking about attending.

And besides, why make VF have like 30 more people "on paper", but when the tourney goes down there's still only 36 people (if the cut off were today).

well 2 including brisal, we're both socal players, so we dont have to worry on the traveling budget. Im trying to convince yama to come down here with shinz. Hopefully a bigger draw for the VF scene and maybe impress a few other gamers.

as first hype to this tournament mad dog jin (of tekken fame) from korea, who took the VF title last year is entering the tournament. We get a taste of some foreign blood.

In case you haven't noticed, the EVO2K3 VFDC Mirror is up. I've also added a VF4 Players list, with VFDC username links where appropriate, just so you can all see at a glance who's going to the VF4 Evolution tournament.

If you see your name on the list but without a username link, just PM me and let me know.

Note: you must officially signup to the EV02003 tournament and indicate VF4 Evolution as one of your games before your name will appear on the VF4 Players list.

Have a look at the first draft of VF4 Rules and Settings to be used during the tournament. Any comments or criticisms? Some feedback in the Joystick section would be appreciated.

Nice job promoting the tourney, myke!

I was reading some stuff at SRK, and noticed that last year one of the SF champions was Onuki, a SF player who has also started playing Aoi, and is pretty good (one of his clips was posted as a "best bout" from beat tribe 10 over at the beat tribe site). If this guy plays, we're probably fucked /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I signed up, but can't seem to get the window to scroll down to see the players list. Also, i noticed in the rules that there'll be no saving of replay files, so I'm hoping we can set up video equipment somehow. I was a little bummed there wasn't more footage taken at TiT.

everyone should try to make this.

Spotlite, I'm not sure what problem you're having with viewing the player list? In any case, I see your name on the list, which brings the total for VF4evo to 59 players so far. Nice! I'll update the VF4 Players list accordingly tonight.

I personally think it'd be great if the likes of Ohnuki and Maddogjin are seen battling it out with the Best from the West. Let's not forget that Tokido and Umehara (2D experts) are also getting into VF4! Whether they'll be making a show at evo2k3 remains to be seen.

As for saving of replays, the major issue behind this is time saving. My understanding is that the all matches from the "finals" will be recorded by SRK for the DVD. But there's nothing to stop you, or anyone, bringing along a camcorder and filming all of your matches. I know it's not as nice as the direct feed replay, but you'll be getting the atmosphere and crowd reactions on film which is a nice tradeoff IMO.

Apart from saving time, and I'm just guessing here, is that whoever will be providing the PS2s would probably appreciate not having random people swapping different memory cards every single match. I can respect that.

      Hey guys. I'm in Tokyo at the moment, which is why I haven't been posting all too much... The place I'm staying at doesn't have net access, so I'm actually mooching off Kurita's computer right now ^^;;;

Anyways, I was speaking to Shu the other night and he asked if there werre any major tournaments going on in the US in the near future. I showed him the cached page with info on this tourney, and he is VERY interested in seeing if Enterbrain staff might be able to come. He works for the DVD and media section of Famitsu, so getting this stuff on tape would be of interest to him and his colleagues, especially since it's a multi-game deal and many of the famous Capcom game players are well respected in Japan, as well. So, we may have some Japanese guests coming to this!

If any of the organizers/their friends are reading this: could you contact me? The Famitsu people would like to get some more info, if possible. My email is zero-chan@usa.net . Danke!

Last year, Mr Sawatari (Editor in Chief of Arcadia I believe), and Mr Yamagishi (Beat Tribe manager, and MC of SBO VF etc) were representing Arcadia staff at EVO2K2. In addition, we also had Mr Matsuda, Mr Wakamatsu, and Kunihiro Funada. Seeing as they expressed a large interest in joining our "official" tournament management staff for next year (EVO2K3), I'm pretty sure it's safe to say Arcadia will be there.

We are waiting for Kuni (our main contact/translator) to get back to us about official Japanese non-player participation for EVO2K3, as well as an official list of Japanese players that are interested for all games.

After sending srk an updated player listing script which allows for filtering on any one game, I've removed the VF4 Players list from the main menu.

To see who's signed up for VF4evo, just follow the "See who's going" link, and click on the game title in the Totals list. To revert back to the main list, click on the "Total Number of Players" link.

This way I won't have to manually update the list for the next 3 months /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
