Hm you raise an interesting point. It hadn't occured to me that Myke stamps out this shit before it starts. Mainly because I don't talk to asshats like that anyway so I don't concern myself with their affairs.

I'd still like to think that we are a better class of fighting game community on the whole, due to how hard Virtua Fighter is to pick up and master. But as a counter point to that view (that I alone may share), this could be the type of elitism that keeps this fighting community in a niche that lacks popularity. Given that FS is a much easier and inviting game for casual gamers we may soon be subject to, in greater numbers, the sexism and bigotry fostered by immature minds that seem to be attracted to games that are easier to play.

OR it might just be that the median age for VFdc forum-users is 27 and not 17 [IMG]

OR it might also be the lack of "hype". I mean, memories are short, and you and i have only been watching VFdc closely since 2007. As has been previously suggested, VFdc might experience a surge of trash-talk when VF5FS comes out [IMG]

Which is why, once again, Myke's & the other mods deserve a thumbs up [IMG]

Agreed, a big part of the continued civility on VFDC is the active moderation of the forums. I think everyone who comes to this site and contributes to the forum appreciates that very much.

Also, we haven't had a ton to talk about since the VF scene outside of Japan has been quiet for some time now, but when FS drops I guarantee this place will be polite and very on-topic. If you love VF and you want to learn more about the game, VFDC is easily the best VF site. This is one of the welcoming fighting game forums there is -- if not the most.

Fighting Game community is'nt on blast here.. Just this Dude Aris.. This is what happen when you get Video game Nerds that know more frame data about the shittiest video games than Women. Obviously this Dude gets no pussy so he doe'snt know how to act around a female. I for one love female gamers because i wish i had one. Secondly i have enough sense not to offend somebody on a national scale... She could sue that whole organization for that. Defamation of character is a motherfucker.

I'll say judging from Final Round- the whole "better class of individuals" comment is valid as well. Seemed a lot more civil/chill over there.

I can't wait to get back into this now.

To be very honest, I don't think our community is better than the other fighting game communities. Without the help of other fighting game communities the goal of reaching the 500-page petition for VF would not have been reached.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the comparisons make much sense. Entirely different context/audience size. There's less of it here but there are also fewer people. I dunno.

I'd like to think that Aris was the only one put on blast, but as the media spins from various sites go that's not the case. The mans always been a sideshow in the worst way. People liked him because he was a walking social train wreck. The dude just doesn't have a disconnect between what he says on the forums and the way he carries himself among other people. I understand that the internet is a "outlet" for some people so I try not to judge people to harshly from their posts. It's just pretty rare form when a net troll is a life troll. Capcom must have been enthralled by his "charm."

I've hung out with the dude in the past. I mean I don't hate him but I definitely wouldn't have thought this is the guy I want representing my companies team.

From the tweet I read (Aris's official apology), he made it seem like that's just the way the community is. He says the FGC has a certain "rawness" or realness that isn't seen in other communities.

This concept is brought up often when talk about MLG is brought out. Like the one recent event, they had really boring commentators but I think they were chosen because they were "safe". They didn't offend anyone and (I know from other events) at least JediRob has experience in fighting games.

I'm on your side, there. I knew it was going to be something really stupid, and I had no interest in asking about it. I haven't watched Cross Assault, and I don't intend to start. I think a reality show about fighting games has a lot more potential within the community as a whole, than to be more or less about one freakin' game.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I was confused about where the offence really was taken, since she kept laughing throughout. Bear in mind, of course, that I'm not in any way justifying the guy's stupidity and apparent desperation.

Its probably hard to defend her without White Knighting, but when you give up a chance to win that amount of serious cash because of how uncomfortable the stream, Players, and the internet make you feel has to be serious stuff.

There's a Miranda's Thighs tumblr page, I saw a lot of the stream and there was plenty of sexist things said.
