Game design decision behind the 2P mechanic.

    this analysis also goes to show the symbiotic relationship of fundamentals in VF. If 2P worked differently then standing P wouldn't work. And if standing P didn't work then advantage and disadvantage would be different. And then the throw system would be different. And then you'd be playing Tekken.

    If nothing else, new players should see 2p as a necessary evil and strive for the day when they understand its true importance.

    They buffed 2p in VF4. I remember it being useful in 3, but in 4 it became pretty indispensable. The first time I played 4 in an arcade in Chicago I got 2pd to death. That was a stunner. Everybody uses it and probably abuses it at some times. Some players basically have it as the foundation of their game. The only thing less respectable imo is having 44 as the basis for your game.
