Ok I went online and peep in game videos of MGS4 and i kinda IMO dissapointed. The game seems to much like a TPS rather than stealth. Kojima mention Snake can't hide in this one but he seems like he's shooting at everything moving lol! Still i just have to play it.

You know you don't have to engage into battle with the PMC's soldiers(Let the rebels handle that mess). Kojima has stated, is about stealth in the battle field. You could choose to fight(And the rebels will love)

I'd also like to add that they did a great job of making both options (sneaking or fighting) very fun. It's a huge thrill to crawl your way between a gunfight with explosions going off all around, and helicopters raining bullets. I also love fighting with the Rebels and clearing out all the PMCs, because it feels like an accomplishment...like we were out fightin for the cause yo! XD

Dude, why the hostility? That is not exactly trolling but a pretty valid summation of why a lot of people don't really like the MGS series. I for one promised myself I'd never play another MGS game after MGS 2. Raiden... Bwah hah hah hah!

Each MGS game seems to me to be a decent game sandwiched between scenes from a terrible movie.

Still the production values alone make me contemplate picking MGS 4 up.

I would take seriously some endorsements of the game from people who are not huge fans of the other games of the series.

By the way, I played and beat the original Metal Gear on the NES back in 1987.

I've seen MGS4 firsthand, and I think it's a very good game (not the greatest game ever made, but very good). I can't say anything on the multi-player, but the single-player is the same old same old story wise (which is good or bad depending on your view on the series). I have to say though, there were moments where my jaw dropped to the floor, such as: *censored*

Yeah, I don't know what else that person has posted. It just didn't seemed like that post wasn't anywhere near worthy of eliciting talk of a ban regardless of who posted in IMO.

And hey man, if you love MGS, then buy it and have fun. It is a pretty divisive and controversial series so when it is brought up, you are going to have people at both extremes. I am not speaking from a trollish perspective; I have played and finished games in the series.

I am not saying that this is definitely the case, but sometimes it seems like fanboys are very sensitive to an informed critique of the object of their fandom.

Anybody ever talked to a grown man who defended The Phantom Menace? I'm just sayin...

Words cannot begin to describe how thoroughly impressed I am. No hype, raw truth. I am a huge fan of the characters/focus/story/style/humor/the whole package of the series though, so I suppose my tastes could make me bias to others.

Could you guys give some details on the gameplay and what not? I was a huge fan up to part 2. I didn't enjoy 3 all that much, felt it steered away from the gameplay and focused more on the story. It could have been the story arch that killed it for me. Anyhow Lets get some details please!

First off, it doesn't play like any of the past MGS games. IMO it's taken the good sneaking aspects of it, improved it, and merged that with an excellent shooter system. As far as actual shooting and aiming goes, you can play the game three different ways. You can play with an auto-aim; much like the past MGS's, it's easier to engage enemies, but you can't get off headshots. You can also play over-the-shoulder a la Gears of War, or FPS.

The controls have also been somewhat changed, it's L1 to aim R1 to shoot. When not aiming, tapping R1 is for your PPK combo.

Sneaking along walls is different now too. Instead of his back against the wall, Snake is now facing the wall which results in a different camera angle.

IMO the sneaking is more fast paced also. It's less waiting in the bushes for the enemy to pass, and more maneuvering around the urban terrain to sneak past the enemy

That's cool, I'm a MG nut and even this bothered me about the 3rd game. I enjoy realism, but the reality is I don't have extra time on end to wait for an enemy solider to pass. I'm not exactly the stealthy type in these games, nor do I care for the camo index stuff. Maneuvering and traversing terrain keeps the game moving imo. This is a good change.

Edit: And yes I sneak up to as many soldiers to slit/crack throats. Snake's grappling abilities ftw.

^ Yeah, it's crazy the options you've been given this go around. For whatever reason, I get a rush of sneaking past doods so that's what I aim for, but you're not held to just that.

Also, what I'm really enjoying is the flow of maps. You can tell early on they put a huge amount of effort into designing the levels and enemy placement. Everything flows just right if you plan out your approach, but you really have to put thought and effort into it. At the same time, it's pretty intuitive. Example would be when you hear soldiers talking early in the game saying they need to give backup to their buddies up top. And you immediately think ohshi! they're gona be running by here, I better find cover. Sure enough, there's cover near by and sure enough, they run on by.
