ggs dfc78 i havent been on much latley my xbox has the problem of not reading my disks i had to get my mates broken xbox to fix mine but it turns out its a diff model. i ended up fixing his instead. he says i can use his till i get mine looked at. Im still sick as a chip the new xbox has only gone and gave my black opps a massive lazer burn grrr at least vf ok. hope to be on tonight if anyones game for a game.

 

Was it a perfect circle scratch around the outside? You can get that fixed with the resurfacing machine that they have in game shops.

 

na m8 its the middle of the disc a perfect circle. been on the phone to microsoft only to be told they cant refund repair or replace it. they said contact trearch or activison and the would charge me a further 5 10 pound wtf i dont think so i paid £30 for it. ive sent a complaint like they tryed to call me a lier on the phone aswell saying the only way your disc can get the scractch like that is if i moved the console when its loading, i can tell you now that xbox hasent moved from under my tv since i got it im fuming grrr lol microsoft are conn artists does anyone know if vfsd is coming to the playstation network cause if it is im jumping ship.

Good games to Mackfactor! Glad we finally met and played. Sorry it was laggy though. But I'm really looking forward to more matches soon (most likely after the 15th).

Nice to play against Cooladdy too who I enjoyed fighting against.

And man, what a wonderful way to be welcomed back into online VF5, I had a lot of fun fighting Brisal! Lag gave me some cheap rounds, but man I still get roughed up bad against Wolf.

Well, looks like I'll be super busy (and away from my 360) until the 15th... So I'm looking forward to more matches after the 15th and I also intend to get back into the swing of online VF.

It's tricky though, because I can't reaction block some things and I am inputting some of my buffers way late. I just can't believe I'm getting hit by a poke after blocking a low punch. But gotta work around what you've got... so hopefully I'll readjust my game, get used to buffering much earlier again, and hopefully give a greater challenge to everyone!

I think I may have an idea of where some of the connection issues in my household is coming from...

* Brother-in-law might be downloading stuff, occasionally on torrents (which would really do it).

* Wife is watching dramas streamed online now and then.

* 4 people in my house all have at least 1 iOS device (2 people have 2) and who knows what the effect of a constant stream of pushes can do to what was already a modest DSL connection.

 

GGs to Blossy last night. I already apologised for the way I was playing so I won't delve into that again.

Instead I'll just fling out a few observations I had about you when we played:

The first couple games we played I knew I wasn't going to be able to play straight knowing that I didn't have the execution needed to perform the moves I had to throw out when I needed them. As a result I assumed a move more defensive playstyle. I spent those matches watching for patterns and openings where I knew I could hurt you.

The first thing I noticed was your opening you would either do that low kick which crumples on CH, do an elbow or backdash. I started just backdashing and doing qcb+P. I nailed you with this a lot in a lot of situations I knew you would use short ranged attacks. What was great is that you started cottoning on to this and started slowing you game down from throwing out strings and short combo starters.

The second thing I noticed was the speed at which you played. Very fast. Not always a good thing. It's very effective against me 'cause I really don't have the knowledge of Sarah so I'm not too sure where all my openings are. However, when I brought you out of this flamingo rush type of assault you froze up and your game became very cagey. This was the point of the game I started throwing you at every opportunity.

I noticed when you went into Flamingo you would do a high punch, a high kick or a sweep. Logically I should have been crouching here but I wanted you to know I had seen this so I started doing high reversals. From then I moved on to fuzzy guarding and throwing you. Which was successful. It took you a while to really get what was going on but you did. For a while you were just mashing out throw escapes instead of beating my throws so I started going back to qcb+P which was netting all sorts of CH.

After a few games though you really started to adapt mid game which was great, you were using more mids and less backflips, less flamingo startups and more pokes. It was really impressive given the time you've been playing.

One thing I will note is that you seem more comfortable relying on moves to get you out of situations rather than defensive techniques. That's not to say you don't use them I just clocked that more often than not you would either backflip or attack. This kind of defending comes from being to comfortable with a characters "magic" and evasive moves. I had a similar problem with Wolf for a long time when I started and I notice myself doing it with Blaze a lot as well now.

Although I wasn't able to capitalise on it in full someone who knows more about Sarah than I do would hurt you badly for it. I don't know if you play any other characters but if you do you should switch out every once and a while to give you a different perspective on a fight and allow you to work on your fundamentals much more. It could only help in the long run.

There used to be a French player called Jorjo who only EVER used Jacky and he would use Jacky's evasive moves well but once I learned more about Jacky (specifically to beat him) I started to notice that he really couldn't play as well as I thought. Once I knew where the holes were he was easy but he never seemed to learn.

So anyway, long story short: Very impressed by how much you've improved since you started. You're starting to adapt on the fly a bit better which is great because you'll face less moments like when I was abusing Jacky's PP4PK.

I think you would benefit from picking up another character, not as a main. Just to give you a chance to work defensively with the game's system rather than using Sarah's moves.

I like his fast offensive style it keeps me thinking the whole time when I try to figure out how to attack him. The sarah players I play with don't play like him so I don't have a base line I can compare him to but the other sarah players I played recently St Tim and Methylidene differs considerably and they can change the pace of the game as needed going slow or fast. Being a fast aggressive sarah is cool though I like it if he adds slower mix ups once in a while and more baiting he would be deadly. How he adapt this in and still be aggressive is dependent on Blossy but once he figures it out he might be able to reach the next level with her. I wonder if he faced other great sarahs because I can't think of many personally he might learn from to advance his sarah even more. I only know of 2 that use her often and a few more that might use her once in awhile. If I wasn't the lazy slouch I was and put in the time you did to get better I would be at GT or Konjou's level by now I really envy him in that aspect of things.

You shouldn't change your style because it is what you are just tweak it here and there and you will be fine. GGs to all the matches we had recently as well especially when I played my crappy 3rd character Lion I really needed to get him the work badly. Only if my connection were better to make the matches last longer. I might have to turn off my PC and disable the wifi function of my phone before I play but I keep forgetting to do that oh well.

GG's to Akira Love from the other night. Fun matches man! While it wasn't perfect I was very surprised how well our connection worked. It was actually better now than from way back when this game was first released. Hopefully we can get some more in when FS is released.

Very good post Seidon always nice to get feedback. Since you took the time to write such a long post I thought you might be interested in hearing it from my perspective as well.

I don’t really remember what I did for opening, and I’m experimenting with it sometimes, but I was surprised you said elbow. Seems like a bad idea generally with the short range and all and not something I usually do but maybe I did last night. If I did that or 2K+G I was probably trying to MC something I thought you might try. And yes it took me awhile to adapt to your backdashing qcb+P…

Yes, I played as fast as I could in the beginning. I think you once said you have some problems with Sarah in general, and since I don’t really have a fighting chance against you I figured my best chance of success would be to capitalize on any lack of Sarah knowledge you might have and keep the pressure on until you stop me. Which you obviously did eventually.

It was very lame of me not to stop doing the high attacks when you reversed me, on wake up too I believe. When you started throwing me I was a bit confused because I was doing TE’s a lot and I thought I did the right ones but I never succeeded. I checked Akiras throws up a while ago, but I still wasn’t really sure of the directions. It annoyed me a bit, so I tried to get myself in situations you would throw me to see if I had the directions wrong or just messing up my inputs. Especially from flamingo backflip. (I checked it up in the dojo later and it turned out I had some of them wrong.) This went on until I escaped some of your throws, then I left this rather stupid approach.

You seem to refer to when I was in flamingo here, and there aren’t really any normal defensive options available there so I either backflip, sweep, 2_8p+k or try to abare out of it with P. There’s not much else to do asfaik. Apart from not getting myself in these situations too much in the first place of course.

From normal stance though I think I’m basically trying to use normal defensive techniques, and I’m not really aware of any good “magic†or evasive moves she has. Once or twice I tried to break your throws with 9k+g but that’s pretty much it. That’s not to say I think my defense is great or anything, I definitely make mistakes and react wrongly or too slowly sometimes etc. It’s very possible you’ve seen something I’m not aware of though.

Yes, they do. I played some mirror matches with Kingo last night for instance… And no, I don’t really use anyone else. Probably will eventually though.

All in all, I had a lot of fun!

Good games everyone. Props to the Vanessa player who I forgot his name, beat me senseless. Vanessa is definitely one of those characters you can't fight without any real knowledge about her...especially after 1 year off!
