Good Games Thread

I think I just get frustrated when people who I consider decent players refuse to play for some reason or another : /.

 

GGs to Kingo, Zeextremekid, Settra, Cozby, Ad4m and the other people I played yesterday and the day before. I haven't played much in a while so I was a bit rusty and had some connection issues on and off but it's better now I think. It was very fun to play again anyway!

 

I wasn't going to chime in on this, but what GT posted above is often something I ask myself. Not to pick on Happy Friend because he always seems to be under fire, but he is a perfect example for the point I'd like to make.

Bro while I think your a great player, but your sportsmanship is lacking. If you win you stick around, if you are losing you leave. What kills me is not that you refuse to play, but your reason for not playing. You often say the matches are dull because your opponent is playing a range game like GT's style or they turtle to much, etc. Funny because all these styles you complain about are the very same styles you use to win. You only use Lau's strong moves like 8k+gK, constant 2P back bash 2k+g, etc, etc. And when a person adapts to all that bullshit you switch to Kingo's cornered wild animal mode and if that fails you leave. No offense Kingo, but it's true you fight like a cornered cat. Normal, counter hit, side turned, hit by rising attack, you name it.... one way or the other you are going to scratch and claw your way out of the corner.

Now I'm not necessarily complaining about Kingo's style and merely letting it be known that I don't like it. Ask Kingo though, despite my disapproval of such a style I'll stick around for an hour if he will let me and play with him.

My point? I don't like his style because I simply just don't know the match up. When you know and understand a match you can careless what your opponent is doing because you know what needs to be done to win.

I'm not a big fan of GT's style either, but I will play him for as long as we both can take it win or lose. As a matter of fact there are a lot of people who's style annoy me, but you will never hear them say I won't play with them.

If a person is doing something I don't like, while it probably does annoy me, it also fuels me to find a way to beat it. How long does it take me to come up with the answer? Well it depends on me and how many different angles I look at the problem from. Often the answer is me and not my opponent.


Also, is ZippingCrayon really Rodnutz? hhhhmmm it's been over 30 days so I guess time will tell!

 

what is everyone gonna do when FS drops? There will likely be a whole range of new players and most of them will come from games where pokey, ranged fighting is what goes down.

In fact, there will likely be tonnes of annoying playstyles suddenly emerging and you're bound to have a great connection with at least a few of them. I know I'm not gonna duck and just play the people I normally do.

 

I'm curious, did my play style ever annoy anyone besides Happy Friend, and occasionally Kaminari?

 

I'm going to complain about the throw system, sideturned situations, broken moves, imba characters, bad sportmanship, the usual.

That's what we're supposed to do, right?

When FS comes out, if I even play it, I'll probably just pick whoever the strongest character is and exploit the engine to its fullest. Might as well give people a reason to not want to play me.

maannn erbody just STFU bout all the complaints! we're all students to this game. if happy friend wanna dip out after losing a few, LET EM! LOL it's his lost! as far as tim goes, i think he over-analyzes matches too much. he is a good player and his improvements over time really shows. just look at the work he's done with lion's combos page! if you care about any game, losing is frustrating PERIOD! some just have a better control over it than others. BUT AT LEAST IN VF, LOSSES COME WITH REASON. and it's your fucking job to figure that out. when tim loses, he doesn't hesitate to PM me with all sorts of strategies. that alone shows me that he's thinking!...but just a little too much.

GT - i enjoy playing you, because it forces me to play honest. ALL the good players do, except you actually don't stray away from basics and foundation. in other words, you don't get fancy with it, yet still remain strong over all.

the only problem i have is within myself. i lack the mental endurance to continue progressing in a lengthy match. only one player has the capacity to make my brain fart and that's denkai. everytime we play, his only priority is to get a 10 win streak on me. and after about 2+ hours of playing him, HE ALWAYS GETS IT which is ultra frustrating. it's like his brain is continuously functioning at 100% regardless of how long he's been playing the same person. sure, his attack happy playtstyle annoys the fuck out of me, but usually before he streaks, i have the answers to counter his offense. but little by little, his relentless abare style plugs away at my flow and just kills me. i envy that shit. it's like he gets better as time goes by, but really it's not him that's getting better, it's me that's getting worst. i start guessing wrong, fundamentals are out the window, and i just completely fail at realizing that what he's doing isn't any different from what he does at match # 1!!!! yet mysteriously, his shit becomes more effective hours later? LOL FUCK MY LIFE!!!

on the real though, i have an overall problem with my defense. i think it's just a matter of time when i take this to the next level. reaction speeds can only improve after X number of matches. denkai has proven this.

anyways, whatever it is that you have a problem with against another player, FIGURE THAT SHIT OUT! offense, defense, endurance, abare, nitaku, spacing, running, PGS, WHATEVER THE FUCK IT IS, INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT IT, COME UP WITH A SOLUTION! in the end we're all just novice players. you aren't as good as you think you are. it's like the NFL. which ever team shows up to play wins on any given sunday.

 

^I pretty much enjoy playing everyone when I play this game, I have addypaddy on my friendlist and I play him regularly too. I think I'm gonna start now with the doing 100% of what I can to win though. Just to get used to it.

I think we lucked out Konjou! Akira will probably be the strongest character in FS!

 

If the game doesn't change, than yeah I might be on that Akria train too if I decide to go hard on the game, lol.

@flash- Because of Adam, my mental stamina improved through the roof. I believe that GT has one of the best mental stamina though, at least it seems that way to me since he seems to never go into auto pilot mode like I do.

Kidding aside, I gotta be honest I'm looking forward to the game but I'm just not hype anymore. And this is like what, 7 months away? Fighting games don't much do it for me anymore. But, the past few posts in this thread made me kind of consider renewing my xbox live, though I don't know yet.

 

Yeah, I try to stay off auto-pilot as much as possible. I generally felt like most of the stronger players were never on auto mode so I'm never on it.

I messed around with KOFXIII a little bit, seems pretty fun.

 

Rod, I think you make a mistake assuming that the way I try to play you represents a default style. It's more like the way I try deal your special Rod shtick. I do agree that my gameplay response is lame and that is why I don't really stick around. I find your conservative style to be tedious. It seems that generally at mid or long range you wait and wait while backing away and trying to get me to whiff and and up close it's all p,2p... And yes, to cope, I think my own playstyle becomes very lame and then the games are basically sucky all around. And it doesn't help that I typically play VF with whiskey enhancement which = less skills/patience, more surliness. It all adds up to our games being irritating as is the VFDC spam afterwards.

It isn't anything personal. There was some Lau player who kept doing so much 2p2p2p444444 that I left pretty early and when he kept msging me afterwards I eventually told him to go fuck a goat. Life's too short to be getting annoyed during happy time.

I actually like to play Denkai and Flash who are really a tier above everybody else. So I don't think it is accurate to just say that I only wanna pwn noobs or whatever.

And Slide, fwiw the last times we played I thought were fine; I just knew my Wolf was not really going to do much against your JA once you switched to a more conservative style. My Wolf is very sucky.

I find it interested that you consider my style very tedious and I'm all about back dashing and making you whiff, yet you enjoy playing Denkai. Umm Denkai is the master of back dash and make you whiff.

Anyway I didn't take anything personal, but just thought that was odd, because my current style was developed because of Denkai's constant back dashing to make you whiff and then punish tactics.

I guess my whiff tactics aren't leet enough. Heading back to dojo mode.

 

Some people think those whiff and constant throw escapes whiff are kind of insult, and they got pissed because they think being tread as retarded. There is no way that everyone would like or enjoy anyone's play style, it's normal.

GGs to you Flash, and it was really fun. Also GGs to Denaki, Rod, KOC on the other night.

Lol, douchebags is too strong of a word for some sore losers out there though. They just really hate to lose... which makes me wonder, why do they play a competitive game where the odds of winning are 50/50?

Kruza, the "bad blood" doesn't run that deep really. This is a very small pool of players. Back when VF5 first went online it took me a year to get on but most people were still playing. About 75% of the players I played online are cool people who just wanted to play some VF, have some kickass fights and have some fun. About 25% were douchebags who pulled during ranked matches or just had a really shitty attitude when it came to losing. Hey, it is what it is, sore losers gonna have sore anuses.

The thing is that out of that 75% most of those guys don't play anymore
Meanwhile, most the 25% of douchebags are still out there playing almost every day

Anyway, in order to counterbalance my previous post, here's a quick list of all of the awesome players who are still online getting it in and having fun. These guys will usually invite or join player matches, win or lose, they always come to brawl and have fun without letting their ego get in the way:

GGs to all of you.

Honorable mentions are Happy Friend who still plays me once in a while and Zipping Crayon. I don't care who he is or what anybody says, this guy's yomi is awesome. Yes he can be boring and tedious but if you look at his game from a strictly yomi perspective then the guy is definitely worth playing for at least 10 matches.

There's a bunch others who don't play anymore but I had so much fun playing like the twins: Social Ruin and Wasted Wish. Those guys would always came to fight and left it all in the ring. Also one of the best Aoi and Lion players I've ever had the pleasure of fighting: DaBadSeed.

I hope VF5FS brings back all those guys who left along with a whole new gang of new and talented players.
