Seeing as how America's screw-ups and crimes affect the entire world I think everyone is in a position to judge.

First black President, I can digg that and acknowledge the progress. But you still have to be a certain type of person to reach that oval office. A type of person that isn't deserving of trust. That doesn't just go for America but pretty much every country today.

My 2 cents. Don't mean to rain on peoples parade, or maybe just a little bit.

*edit* I sincerely hope he proves me wrong.

there wouldn't be this huge force of energy coming over the world if he wasn't going to be a good president. He's already done a lot on day 1

We know "what really makes this country great", but actually we just don't care, as most americans don't care for other countries.
When I went in LA the lack of culture and interest about other countries nearly shocked me. But it seems that the californian education system is kinda sucky, I guess it's not the same thing in Boston, Philly, NYC etc...

lol at this shit about obama, he only got elected because media was on his side

96% of the blacks voted for obama many of them just because he is black

if 96% percent of the whites would have voted for MCcain they would have been called racists /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

    pretty fucked up

I voted for him because the republicans weren't doing enough to really help the people and they needed to be replaced. I don't care what race Obama is and as far as people are concerned race should never be an issue period. We should vote because we feel they are the better candidate overall, that is how it should be. I am so sick and tired of people playing the race card all the time. Remember a black man (myself) is saying this too.

lol 96% of american blacks voted for obama you say? Where did you pull this stat from?
and on what authority can you say many voted for obama purely because of race?

Europe is very different from america and I"m not defending people not knowing about other countries but if you look it the way I'm about to explain it makes sense

USA with all it's individual states is pretty close to the size of more than a hand full of european nations and US people tend to have a very good knowledge of the differences between the states. For europeans knowing what's going on in the different countries is akin to knowing what's going on in different states for americans.

There is more awareness in places of more diversity such as NYC where they are actually affected more by these things. The only reason the rest of the world pays so close attention to USA is because we're so damned powerful. I'm sure we'd get a lot less shit for having a lot of citizens that don't really pay attention to the rest of the world as much if that wasn't the case.

this is exactly what tony is talking about, and yes I do agree with tony on this. You don't hear us talking about your country like we have a definitive understanding of it's climate and the views of the people. Speculation sure makes sense but really if someone in the country has a huge problem with the government you can always leave if you're not willing to wait the next 4 years for a chance to get someone you believe in elected. Just so happens this is the first time I really believe in my president so I can truly say I love my country and not feel dirty saying it.

just no. I'm glad you're not a US citizen

although, i would bet my house on the possibility of there being a few US citizens who share his twisted view....

    Master_Pain is just an idiot.

Does he even realize the REAL factors that led to Obama winning?
Bush, the economy, etc. Black people didn't vote for Obama just
because he was black for fucks sake. There have been other black
candidates that didn't get even close to the amount of support of
black america. After the previous administration you probably
could have gotten a VC in there complete with rice hat.

Look at all that has happened with Bush in charge of America.
You also have to take into account that most voting blacks are
democrats anyway. I further contend that if if 96% of whites
voted for Mccain they wouldn't be called racists....

They'd be called idiots. If you lived here you could have
added to McCains tally. What candidate DOESN'T win without a
good media campaign? By the way the media almost always favors
    the democratic candidate. NOTHING NEW.

Well... Not really. I don't have enough good english skills to express myself to argue haha. It wasn't especially about other european coutries actually. But about the rest of the world.
And as you say, average american don't care about the rest of the world.
We don't want you to "speak" of us, we don't care lol. What scares me is the lack of interest and curiosity of us citizens: they just watch themselves. They don't know what's going on in the so called world they're talking about, except when they bomb some communists asiatics or middle eastern countries.
The ppl I met in California for the most had almost no knowledge in geography of course, no knowledge of other cultures, no knowledge in history (Is there a world before 16th century? haha).
    I guess it's the consequences of ultra-individualism.

Average Americans? I bet you the average mexican, average brazilian, average venezuelan, average chinese person etc doesn't know much about the rest of the world either.

The average person in most countries is a joe schmoe with
    little education in general.

It is a shame that many americans don't follow what's going on overseas. I thinking like the psychologist I am always ask myself why a behavior is prevalent.
