No need to get all pissy man we're just having a misunderstanding, name calling isn't really going to help anyone.

sounds like stances (brandygames strat guide calls it that but what do they know there are a lot of mistakes in it) to me but w/e, I haven't really been checking the thead all that often so I missed your call for an invite to play. I'm offline right now so I can't but in a few weeks sure.

Well, perhaps I exaggerated calling him horrible, but he's definitely mid-tier or below from what I've seen. The problem is that SC doesn't have any of VFs consistency in terms of 12f jabs/14f mids, and other core attacks to punish with.

Astaroth just has real problems because he's too slow. Having high damage (which he does) or good long range mixups (which he does), doesn't matter at all when someone can just get up in his face, and spam BB all day to lock him down. It's not like he's worthless, he just has to work a bit harder for his damage, which is really what tiers are about anyway...

KiwE: Yeah, you're right there are bugs, but most of that stuff in the post you linked is kind of meaningless. The ivy infinite was banned, and I will admit the voldo thing is serious, dunno what they'll do about it. That said, admitting all those bugs, SC4 is still ridiculously much less buggy than either 2 or 3, and both those games ended up doing alright. If it really bothers you, don't play it... but don't expect to convince anyone else. Most people here are simply reassured by seeing how short that list is.

I don't have too much problem using Astaroth. Usually a good knee stuck in between BB spam gets me the space I need, or a little bit of sidewalking.

Oh yeah Siggy can be punished pretty good if you know the correct moves to punish him with. As far as astaroth the lag (Even with 5 bars.)gives him a break due to the fact that you have to anticipate his moves rather than just react to them the fly. Siegrfiend is almost the same but he just a bit faster. Normally a lot of the Astaroth player love to use the double Sweep low moves then try to mix it up. Offline i can parry a mojarity of the second parts but online i get passive due to the srict timing of the parry system now. His knee has weird properties sometimes being invncible and what not.

asta's double low or low into mid GB is a pain online, I learned from playing him that you have to make your choice before seeing what your opponent does though as if you wait to confirm the first hit and try to enter the followup nothing comes out.

That's one of my pet peeves with this game. I can't hit confirm because I have to hit stuff a lot of the time way ahead. VF is not like that ever, you can always hit confirm.

For the double sweep, you can block it even with lag! My technique, because two sweeps comes out a tad faster than the guard break, is to assume they're doing two sweeps and block low. If you see them start to charge you keep holding block and return the stick to neutral.

The two sweeps are fast enough that you can't react if you're not expecting them, but the guard break gives you enough time to react. Just train yourself to assume they are doing both sweeps and if you see him start to turn and charge, just stand, which takes very few frames as you're just going to standing guard from blocking low.

I've gotten used to the sweep to the point where: if I see him start to turn low, with the slower one I can usually jumping B it for a counter-hit and knockdown. I don't use AstAroth (been misspelling his name for a while, sorry...) but, as far as the sweeps, the version that knocks you down gives you time to react and jump. There's another version that doesn't knock down but it's much quicker so I get hit with that one more often.

Further, since you know the range the sweep is effective from, you can almost expect it from them at certain points in the fight. On wake-up for sure, but also when they are at mid range at neutral advantage/disadvantage looking for a move to break the "silence."

As far as the knee or head-butt, whatever it is, that move is nasty. It will ring you out from a mile away from the edge and it quickly ducks under your high attacks. A lot of time I try to close the distance with a quick 66A 8-way run move to close it on him but it's VERY vulnerable to that knee/head-butt so I eat it on a counter-hit way too often. I've gone out of the ring so many times by throwing a fast, high attack on wake-up, to stuff him, only to have him duck under it with the knee and blast me right out of the ring.

Fun game though! I'm still getting murdered by Siegfried but I'm getting a little better. Learning when to block low is so freaking important in this game!

The other PSN users can sense if you're not wearing a monocle when you go online. It's also important to only drink fine spring water while playing. Otherwise, they rightly perceive you as low class.

Does seem like jumping has a faster startup.
