I'm even more inclined to buy Demon Souls after finding out it has RPG elements.

I think you missed my point by the way. My basic point (although I admit I did long it out) is that single player only games are fine BUT, FOR ME they either need to either be exceptionally long AND/OR have significant replay value.

Heavy rain does not offer either of those points so I am not buying this game.

I've heard of a PAL release coming for Demon Souls anyone know the release date? Also I know that Blu-Ray is region free but how does the online work in the different versions of the game, for example would the jap version only work online for Japan?

    Word.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> I do have to correct you. Demon's Souls is an RPG. And by that I don't mean you "play" the "role" of a character. I mean you have stats, equipment, character progression, experience points, ect. </div></div>
I think those aspects suck and Im bored at them.

Feck is right about his point of RPGs. In Gears of War you "play" the "role" of Marcus Fenix. In God of War you "play" the "role" of Kratos. In Super Mario Bros you "play" the "role" of Mario (or Luigi). And in Gran Turismo you "play" the "role" of a race car driver. Which of these games would you classify as being RPGs and which have RPG elements?
    </div></div>
Are you trying to say there is no RPG as a concept?

ps. Heavy rain is refreshing change and that is why its good.

Ive now finished the game and I do recommend it.

Seeing that Ive only unlocked 42% of trophies on first go I suspect there is still replay value [IMG]

Here in the UK, there's been no stock for the last week or so. I really don't remember the last time a videogame completly sold out, either Heavy Rain is doing realy well or they didn't expect this much demand for the game.

EDIT: Just checked ebay and the special edition is selling for double the price it was when I bought it.

Speaking of Madison... Anyone played through the Taxidermist DLC? I played through it yesterday and i'm suprised it wasn't in the main game, i'm not quite sure where it fits in the story but it was a really tense scene.

I replayed a few other scenes as well and i'm quite suprised at how easy it is for Madison to die, nearly every scene I replayed with her it's possible for her to die, yet I replayed quite a few scenes with the other characters and no matter what I did I just couldn't get them to die.

Oh and that scene with the Doc, I didn't like where he was aiming that drill.... brings a whole new meaning to the term screwed [IMG]

Thats funny. Im pretty sure the other characters can die just as easy.. Jayden can die just analyzing the evidence lol

DLC for the first prequel chapter is out. It stars Madison as she's investigating a house belonging to an Origami Killer suspect. The entire DLC takes place in the house and is over pretty quickly. My first time through was in under ten minutes. And I unlocked all five endings in less than two hours.

$5 is pretty steep for this DLC. The killer is also played by Scott Shelby's voice actor which totally broke the immersion for me. I hope that they put more of an effort into the DLC than this one. IGN basically said that this DLC should have been the demo for the game and not paid content.

Still though...the Heavy Rain feel is present. Some of the scenes are nail biting. One of the sequences requires you to hold down a set of buttons for up to a few minutes. My hand cramped and I failed the event which was pretty cool. If you have $5 to spare then download it.

Just finished playing through the game a second time. The first time I finished the game was maybe a week or two ago. Both times the game was an enjoyable experience. For the most part, I think the individual stories was ok, very well polished. When you put all 4 character stories together with the many different ways the story can branched, the story becomes somewhat rough. Maybe the story well blend better with less plot holes, if I get the "best" or "true" ending?

Its been a while since I last played Shenmue 1 and 2 - but if I remember correctly - it felt very much like a mixture of 3 types of games:

    1. an open world game
    2. QTEs
    3. Action / Fighting game

Very ambitious, but very rough. Maybe if Heavy Rain type of game is successful..we will get an ending to the Shenmue story (yeah wishful thinking).

Heavy rain is not really an open world game, quite far from it actually. The story is divided into episodes with specific goals and its open only within that episode.

What I wrote earlier was referring to Shenmue as being a open world game.

The only thing Heavy Rain shared with Shenmue is the QTE event sequences.
