Help! Chicago players wanted!

Well, I finally started playing VF4 again. And thank you for some of you for competition. I look forward to playing a bit more and hopeffuly catch up to the standards in NA scene.

And I tell you, you definitely play better! Just more on throw escapes and not to freeze up when in defense.

Keep it up with your practice!
Akira is a tough character to master. You need to practice those combos, and then you'll be at equal footing with other characters. Hey, I was never able to play Akira in VF series due to difficult commands, if that makes you feel better. For Akira's throws, try using 3P+G or 16P+G. 46P+G is easy, but the damage is mediocre if the opponent TR.

I had a good time and some wake-up call the other day. Needless to say, you do have a good yomi, guessing my dodges and defense habits. Despite your comment, Sarah is a good character. Flamingo is one thing, but if I know it's coming, I'll be ready to counter it. Vice versa for my P/elbow style Sarah. As you said, "victory comes in infinite forms", right?

Every time we play, I wish I could give you some tips. Sorry, I just don't know anything about Brad. If you have questions about Lau and the setups I use, please ask! I'll tell you what I'm doing and the ways to counter.

Oh, I had fun listening to Nightwish. Thanks to you and Josh for the info. They are definitely Scandinavian type but still unlike Royal Hunt or Stratovarius. It took me a while to get used to the "classical" vocal though.

Ah, I totally forgot that Allen was coming in this weekend. He'll be in from GA for the weekend. We're planning on driving down to Chapaign (in Dave's car) to go visit his brother Ed. It's his birthday this Saturday.

Maybe friday we could meet up for something though. I'll be in touch.

Upcoming event for this weekend....

Mirai and Sean (Shawn?) are coming in town this weekend of 3rd. They are both Tekken fiends who recently started playing VF4.

We'll definitely play on Friday and perhaps on Saturday as well. It's gonna be at my place, most likely.

Since we do not know the exact time yet, I'll contact Chicago regulars on individual basis. For those whom I've neber met and want to join, please send me a PM, and I'll give you directions and contact info.

Downloaded more stuff on Nightwish. From the beginning, I kept thinking the music sounded familiar, somewhat like Japanese HM. Now I think their music (not the vocal) sounds a lot like old Falcom PC games, such as Ys and Sorcerian.

If anything, Namco arcade at Randhurst got good Namco lineups.

If any of you guys can come to our game club @ Columbia College downtown that me & king zeal run that would be sooooooo dope. we desperately need more players. Stino comes through pretty often he can vouch for us we have a about 2-3 tv's and we have a projector too.

I was actually there last Friday on 26th. Don't think you were around that day. I ended up playing against MADrox most of the time.

This weekend though, I have some visitors from St. Louis coming, so we'll have some friendly VF get-together over at my place in Hoffman Estates.

Columbia, unfortunately, is right in the middle of downtown, and parking is usually a problem for me.
