Can't help you there cause I'm having the same problem. Sometimes. About half the time I can get it out, I just can't get it out without doing something like a TFT first.

i pressed d/f,d/f,f+k but on the joystick he won't crouch dash

Keep in mind that your directional inputs will be quicker with the joystick but initially less precise...either you are missing your diagonals or you need to make your second [3] more like a [3_] then roll the joystick [6]. Hope this helps. Also, you don't need the whole crouch DASH...you just need enough of it to be considered crouching so you can get the knee with the [6][K]. Practice & you will get it /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

Since the TFT has a long animation, you can do the crouch dash motion slowly rather than trying to do three quick, accurate motions in a row.

Do df,df and hold the second DF during kage's getting up animation, then half a second later cut loose with f+K when you recognize that the TFT animation is done.

You even have time to reposition you hand on the stick a little. Holding the stick a certain way will cause you to hit forward a little when you meant to hit DF. By adjusting your hand a little (like bending your wrist a little more) pressing df will truly hit DF.

As for knees outside of TFT, and other modified moves... that's pretty much a matter of how you hold the stick. It's tough to unlearn one way of holding it and then go to a new way... but that might be exactly what you need. Try clutching it between a different pair of fingers.

Just curious, but I was wondering:
How many people play with thumb for g, pointer for p, and middle finger for k for the joystick?? A while ago I thought most people played pointer, middle, ring finger (like I do). Then I find out that it's the other way around. I find thumb, pointer, middle very awkward.

I just switched to thumb, pointer, middle. My consistency executing Akira's knee improved.

Thumb, pointer, middle is the way to go for me. Of course, you need to use a stck with the buttons at an angle to use it effectively (Hori, Ascii), and not a stick with buttons straight across (MAS).

But until I build a new stick to replace my old broken one, I'm using a pad now and playing on my knee using my pointer, middle, and one after middle on the sqare, triangle, and circle buttons. It works ok, but forget about reacting and moving as quickly as you can on a stick. It's just not possible.

I tried to play like this with a pad, but I found it way to hard. Then I just started to use the L and R buttons ~ cheesy but much easier then having the controller flip out between your hands and knee onto the floor = ]

Is your left hand playing the same way, or are you using your thumb? Cause I can see how the controller would be unbalanced using your fingers on the d-pad too, but not by gripping it with your left hand and using your thumb. I have total control doing it this way, and the only real problem I have is my right hand and fingers get sore after awhile being in that curved position.

Although, I think I do remember the contoller falling all over the place when I first started using the contoller. Maybe you're like me and it just takes practice.

Yes, I used my thumb to control the d-pad and I suppose I could train myself to use my right hand like that, but as you said your fingers got sore. Wouldn't want that happening to me = P All in all, I can't wait until I get started on building my own stick = ]

What direction does everybody press to modify Akira's m-dbplm, [3][3] or[1][1]?

I think u can get close to moving as efficiently on a pad as opposed to a stick. I guess I'm still used to pad even tho I play with a joystick now. I use the ps2 dual shock from time to time just for the hell of it and I find the movement and reaction certainly doable to an extent.

I use a Pelican. It has 8 buttons. The top row is L1 [ ] /\ and R1. The bottom is L2 X O R2. I use L2 as G , [ ] for p and /\ for k similar to the button positioning of the arcade. I still can't get used to thumb first middle. I'll stick to first middle ring.

Plague: So you switched from first middle ring to thumb first middle? If so, how long did it take u to get used to it?

I use [3][3] when facing right and the other when facing left (without as much success). I believe I'm going to switch to [3][3] for all modified moves, though - as it's a more natural hand motion for me. Also, Spotlite advised me that it makes for a faster CD input to get out modified moves. Still, I find [3][3][6][4][P] somewhat difficult to do without showing a backdash animation while facing left (I suppose I need to work on my buffer timing).

About 5 to 10 fights and about 15 minutes free training concentrating on SPOD, DLC, AS3, and the [1][6][P]+[G] throw. Every now and again I'll set my fingers first middle ring at the start of a fight, realize what I did, and get hit while changing them back. /versus/images/icons/crazy.gif

When I tried to switch to thumb first middle previously, I didn't give it enough effort, thought to myself "this blows", and switched back immediately. Recently, I decided that with Akira's dependence on the [K]+[G], release [G] knee in EVO verB, I should switch to thumb first middle permanently (the anatomy of your hand makes it easier to pull off knees with thumb first middle).

    I use an ASCII stick.

I use [3][3] on the 1p side for his double palms on either side. For the guaranteed m-dbpm (ver c.) after [4][3][P]+[G] I use [1][1] (1p side) when I'm on the right side.

PS: I just remembered a trick for holding the stick that might make it easier for finding diagonals - assuming you have a ball-style stick rather than a bat-style one. Turn your left hand so that the palm is up and grip the stick between the middle and the ring finger. It might feel weird at first, but a lot of excellent players use this (chibita for one).
I sort of hold it that way but with my palm downward. I think holding the palm upwards matters though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yikes! That seems just too weird for me. Does anyone else have any other ideas on how to hold the stick, or should I just break down and get used to doing it like this?

Using a Namco PS1 stick (ball style), X guard thumb, [] punch index, and /\ kick middle.
Versus city setup. I don't want to have to get used to a new setup if I ever get to Japan for some serious gameplay /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif
