I've been on the site since 2006, but I didn't really start posting all that much until a year before FS hit the west.

I found VFDC when I first started seeing videos of VF5 vanilla coming from the Japanese arcades. I was heavy into VF4Evo at the time, so seeing Sarah whoop ass got me all excited. Hoped on Google and tried to find a VF community somewhere (at the time I felt like I was the only VF player in america). Stumbled on this site, thought it was cool, so I lurked for a few years.

    ......and here we are.....

Stumbled on the site looking for strategies against lei fei to best my older cousin back when I was playing 5 vanilla. Didn't join till about a year after FS came out since a lot players left and it was hard for me to find rooms to play in. Best choice I ever made this is imo the best community out there for fighters.I made a lot of friends here. Extremely down to earth people here who are more than willing to help you out if you need tips. Have no trouble finding rooms now it's always cool to have a crew I can play with.

IIRC I learned of it when I became interested in custom sticks in ~2004. I saw some pics of sticks made by a guy called Catch-22, who was a member here. He put up instructions online on how to build them the way that he was doing it. He was way ahead of his time because nobody was making small MDF cases with Japanese parts in those days. That didn't become popular until years later in the 2D community. Since then, I've considered him the pioneer of that style of customs.

I joined when VF5 was announced for arcades because the screenshots looked so good. Sega's website showed pics of the alternate costumes and I had picked one out and everything. I figured the arcades where I live would get it but that never happened because of Sega's rules on distributing the game. I didn't come back until FS came out.
