I don't know but it's long. I'm still struggling with bueffered byakko. I have the speed but not the accuracy.
For his general gameplay in VS, imho it's really hard cause he is linear and predictable as hell, and has basically two throw escape direction (on the most damaging throws) except stumbling tricks and pg. But fuck all that Akira is THE man ! ^_^

Well I've been using him since 4: EVO and i'm still not there yet...

I started 1 month and a half ago so I'm still a baby Akira ^_^
But I guess Xbox live help me improve faster than if I played alone in dojo.

I never thought it was possible to play the guy properly until I saw youtube matches. I've played him on occasion... but let me tell you... having a stick HELPS.

im playing akira since vf4:evo..so i dont really have problems with his moves
i just dont have many opponents here in austria and i dont really like playing akira on xbl =D

Even though Akira is my main, I know that I'm not good with him yet...In fact, I'm better with Aoi, my secondary! lol

Not being consistent with Akira's tough moves is my weakness, and it is especially difficult for me since I'm doing it on pad...However, where there's a will, there's a way!

 

It takes some tim to get used to Akira. I know I've been getting used to him for a while.

 

Even though he's tough to use, I have to say that he's super fun to use! Man he can dish out damage like a m****fer! I just picked him up not too long ago...about 2 and a half weeks so far and kicking some kyu butt lol! I just hate it when your opponent sidesteps everything you throw at them...plus if they're good with ETEG, you're shit out of luck! =(

 

Heh, gotta throw my 2 cents in for all the pad players. While using akira can be quite difficult and a stick is preferred, it is very possible to use him effectively on that dreaded xbox analog(pad)as well and it's not that bad either. Just muscle memory for all the moves. But, akira is a hard dude to get used to, especially online and lag kicks in. Can't tell you how many times I want to throw my controller when buffering SDE and it comes out half a year later. Been using him since VF4 since I used Jacky from 1-4. But I've got a lot of learning to do just like everyone else. Still, it's so fun to dish out damage, and once you get the hang of buffered dlbpm, you can't help but do it all the time.

 

I'm trying to avoid the pad Akira debate this time.

Took me about a month or two to get where I am.

I don't play him exclusively though.

Started with VF5 Version B, and still playing. Kind of.

Feels like I have been playing Akira forever and I still don't think I am good with him. I can't wait till I figure out what I am doing wrong.

Not quite there yet. A year and a month and counting. Seems like the better you get with him online, the harder he is to use online. I miss the days of being able to use moves without having to think of disadvantage or advantage, given it doesn't seem to matter half the time in ranked online.

 

There are some pretty good Akira players saying they arent good yet! There is hope for me.

 

Now that I think about it, 7 hours, in the span of a week. Somewhat casual practice.

I can crush most of the people I fight on and offline, but that just makes me better than average... ^_^

Doing his moves is easy to me, my dexterity is rather high, it's WHEN to do them that gives me issues.

That and I can win without the knee, doesn't look as 1337 but a win's a win right?
