    Not nearly enough.
Then again ICO is artfull gaming, despite its gameplay that is well and truly rooted in the games of yore the execution, storytelling and suspension of disbelief are verry well realised and as such it becomes a game that doesnt get the recognition it deserves.

I'm sure more than 200,000 copies of the game were made, it's simple lack of interest from the gaming public that dictacted its low sales. If Sony would have put a marketing campaign comparable to the Jak and Daxter fiasco that took place last year (forcing that game, against its own will, to sell 1.2 million copies), maybe things would've been different.

Current sales numbers show 149,676 copies sold with 691 sold in the last month.

I don't think any amount of advertising from Sony would have increased ICO sales to 400k and definitely not to 1 million+. It is too quirky of a game with it's mixture of puzzle and adventure elements. It's an exercise in intelligent babysitting. Expecting it to sell 1 million +, but be like expecting Vib-Ribbon, Mr. Mosquito, or Running Wild to sell 1 million +. Games like these are niche titles that while fun and potentially addicting do not offer that epic scale or instant gratification that most casual gamers crave. I'm a hardcore gamer and could not get into it, because it was so slow paced IMO.

    tl;dr

Half-Life was indeed awesomely eveolutionary at the time of release, and if you're one of the people that played it at the time of release, you'd agree. It has the best AI, the best immersion, the best sound, and the best sp gameplay of any other fps at the time. Yes, it's been outdone, but fps's would've taken a lot longer to move foward if it weren't for Halflife.

And if you think HL2 is going to suck then you havent seen the E3 presentation - it's going to rape Doom 3 IMHO.

And GTA3/Vice City is no big deal. At first it was cool, but all missions are based on the same formulas, and messing with NPCs gets old after awhile.

    And Ikagura was fun.

    Final Fantasy X sucked.

And Empnova, don't diss Mario Party, it's obviously the deepest game ever, and not completely random /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

    Tier 1 = Gadlights
Tier 2 = Boo Crystal Ball
    Tier 3 = Magic Lamps

Ok, so Half Life is porbably the best first person shooter (for its time), but maybe not the best one ever made.

As for Half Life 2, omg I can't fucking wait any longer for this, the E3 footage was like a surreal dream, I couldn't believe what Valve had been doing for all those years. How can EVERY employee keep such a huge secret like this for all those years???

And sorry, I forgot that Mario Party 4 was the best game ever and more deep than VF will ever be, the dice rolling system (ONE THOUGH SIX OMG!!) is more deep than the petty evade system in VF.

You've obviously not played Mario Party if you think the dice roll is 1-6.

If it is not 1-6 what is it, I've played Mario Party only twice, so no surprise that I didn't know?
