This is cool. If anyone wants to be lion in real life, The only living Wah lum Grandmaster in the US live in Orlando. And has a school here. Wah lum is Northern praying mantis style.

Hey thanks for the info Jedi Fei. I will defintely go and check it out. If not to attend, maybe to see if his students need some chinese medicine and acupuncture treatments after long and hard training. See you on sunday. Can't wait. Jake, need to talk to you about Aoi. I like your game with her. So I have some questions for you.

I use to go to school behind Wah Lum (Colonial 9th grade center), and after school my friends and I would take classes there. I believe they still have a massage parlor there.

That school, in my opinion, is weak in teaching compared to what I've experienced from a teacher who taught mantis style inside of a parking garage. Not much Ki use and weak forms, plus they were spoiled, but it was definately interesting none the less, and was a nice release from the pressures of high school. I say we have the next gathering at Jakes house and take a field trip to Wah Lum! It would be nice to see one of my teachers again. Just an idea.

Bah on wah lum. Most wah lum students I've ever dealt with were very undisciplined or had no idea how to apply their kung fu.

How many Wah Lum students have you dealt with Unc? What do you mean by "dealt" with anyway? What good did you see from them? That's a very strong opinion you've made, it's pretty much an insult, so I only assume you've "dealt" with alot of them, and its not the style you dislike, its them you dislike. Kung Fu isn't to hurt, and Wah Lum is a combination of two types of Kung Fu. It's foundation is a unique style called Seeking Leg, so it's not all about Praying Mantis, it's an honored style of the two, so it isn't to hurt. I can assure you though that the students of Wah Lum do spend alot of time learning how to use weapons well, and if you've "dealt" with them without weapons then you'd be in for a real treat spectating at one of their shows. Just a thought.

sigh, i've sparred with some of them, i've talked to some of them in person, I've seen them perform during tournaments. I'm part of the martial arts world, it's what I do. I've seen their shows which are pretty, I'll give it that. That's about all I'll give it. All I know is most of the students are very ineffective from what I've seen in combat. Which says something about the teacher, kung fu isn't meant to hurt? Sure okay lets go with the "self defense" motif, they can't defend themselves with it very well either. All that's left is an attractive dance.

Sure someone can attack capoeira and say it's the same thing. Generally capoeira doesn't even join any fighting tournaments....but at the US Open my brother got 2nd in continuous fighting in the black belt division using capoeira. My mestre put him there and he's actually only been doing capoeira for 2 years at the time.

But yeah...it's pretty, maybe I was a little harsh. It's nice to look at I suppose.

Alright guys as of right now we all should know if anything went down on Friday, It didn't. Sunday is a different story, Everybody is welcome at my place on Sunday. We'll be seeing a lot of new faces. Some guys from Tampa are coming for SC, and we have a new VF player that was hiding in the shadows coming from the UCF area. Enk and Unc I really hope you can make it. Everybody is welcome to bring refreshments say a bottle of coke or something to snack on. This is really beginning to take off, more and more people are hearing about our gathering and want to come. I hope all of you have been practicing hardcore VF shit. My wolf is really getting nasty along with my Jacky. I'm actually getting a little bored with jacky and have moved to Lei Fei. Anyways I may have to work on Sunday so here it is. Come between 4-5, I'll be showing up if I have to work at around 530-6. Mikey will be there along with IMF, Dude, and Cappo. Everyone is Welcome!!! See you guys tomorrow.

    Also:
If any of you guys are willing, bring a PS2 with RF switch, I've got plenty of TV's but not enough PS2's and RF's. Also if you guys want to bring a VCR to record that would be CRUNK!!

May be able to make it, I'm talking Dan into it. I'm telling you, yallz quietness scares some people /versus/images/icons/wink.gif I'm not knocking it though! We know where we all stand now, some are quiet, some talk all day, some get wasted, some curse every other second. It's all good! As long as we keep playing.

As far as learning hardcore vf shit, I don't have a ps2 anymore so you all are probably going to be handing me my ass without much difficulty sooner than later. Difference is though, it's a free ass kicking /versus/images/icons/wink.gif If we were in the arcade I probably would have quit, but I'm starting to dig the free thing, and the joysticks aren't as bad as I thought they would be.

I got a DC and SC I can bring....and.....dun dun DUN
UNREAL TOURNAMENT! Of course I don't expect anyone to hold a grain of salt against me in that game but blonde_one u must play....learn....and one day be owned by me with dignity!

Gawd the history of Hydra is such a good read, *sniff* I should send this thread and the other to a publishing company and make us all some loot for a sc2 machine /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Hey guys. I had fun but didn't get to a chance to play a lot of vf4. It kinda was a distraction to see all those Soul Calibur players play. They were really good. Anyhoo, thanks Eric for some Lau vs. Lau fights. I did that last week with Dwayne and I learned a lot. Blonde_one keep me updated Roanoke VA. Oh a quick take, does anyone here listen to the Jim Rome show? He's a sports talk radio host. Well, see you guys later on this week or the next. Early

I do. Well, I don't listen to Rome as much as I used to. I'm a semi-clone./versus/images/icons/wink.gif Rome is classic.

Oh yeah, I'll try and go to the gathering next Sunday. And hopefully, I'll be able to compete with you guys a little more in the future.

You are a semi-clone. that's cool. I so wish florida had a bigger following so he can have a tour stop here in Florida somewhere. I would be there. He is a classic. Did you ever hear his classic take on the tv show cops or how he hates soccer and wrestling and the softball guy take? They are the best. Hope to see you on sunday or the next time we all get together.

Hey guys, this is one of the Soul Calibur players (I'm the guy who played my Voldo vs. UnCauzi's Voldo for the last few matches). BTW, sorry if my loud Xianghua and Ivy distracted your VF4 games. =P

Anyway, thanks for the hospitality and games. We much appreciate it. It's too bad I really didn't get to see many VF4 matches...I had hoped to stay longer than we did so it caught me off guard when my friend wanted to leave (he had some class work to finish). From what I saw though, you guys have some quality gaming there. Much more advanced than I had ever seen anywhere else in FL. We'll be coming back out to Orlando soon enough; you better believe we'll be out there all the time when SC2 is released (I'm guessing sometime in June). I'll try to practice up my Aoi in the meantime. =)

I've already PM'ed UnCauzi and Blonde_one about the tourney happening in Pompano Beach on May 4th. I think we might go, if only to spectate, but I'm not sure. I'm glad they're having games there like MOTW, KOF2001 and 3rd Strike...but where the hell are VF4, SC and T4? I mean, yeah I enjoy the games being offered, but you have to represent at least a few 3D fighters too. =) Anyone here planning on showing up?
