Anyway, Myke promise to bring VFDC wiki up ASAP; and remember - vanilla VFDC wiki >>> vanilla master guide (or black book or anything).

well guys, count me in for any initiative :) I want to support the game, too (even though I'm a very low level player, regarding skills....).

@Biquiba: we do post on shoryuken.com but in that forum VF is relegated to a rather hidden and empty part....

On shoryuken.com, in the guides bar, clicking in "ALL GUIDES" you'll be redirected to the SRK Hyper Guide:

"The Shoryuken.com Wiki is intended to be a repository for all fighting game strategy knowledge.
While our roots are in the Capcom franchises, we invite fans of all fighting game
series to augment the site with their strategies and techniques. Anyone can edit the
content on the wiki. All you need to do is create an account and log in."

It is our lack of work over there that keeps it so empty. Just take a quick look at the amount of work on SEGA games at SRK: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Strategy_Guide

But again, thank you for creating this thread! Now, to the Chibiaya's twitch channel!

Folks I have one idea. I tried to post on SRK, but now the entry isn't open like in here, just register and jump right in, at least not anymore.
But...I always wanted to talk, and I talk a lot by the way, also I'm very curious. So I'd like not just exchange messages like now. But more directly, like in the MSN old days or in Skype. So I end up more or less...interviewing people.

Why do not make a podcast? But not your generic VF podcast, but a podcast focused on promoting the game. Where I could talk not to, or at least not only to, the heavyhitters like Mike, Plague or LA Akira. But discuss with newbies, and how they got in this "ViciousFighting" in this period wich VF isn't that hot shot game like in past Yu Suzuki days. Showing that isn't impossible for the average Street Fighter casual player to really enjoy VF or even maybe, be competitive.

I already know some interesting stories from people like sharp-7 or kokujin. What do we need? Nothing probably beside skype and youtube accounts. But I don't know if an tool will be needed if we decide to make it live, like in twitch or ustream.

    What do you think guys?

I know in Sydney we've got a pretty good scene built for the game, with a good group of players who have all levelled up significantly since the game released. I think part of the success has been newer players like myself mixed in with some long-time VF heads who are able to give us information and show us how the game can be played at a high level.

An important thing is keeping the game in eye-sight too. The KOF XIII tournaments are semi-official and are pretty much entirely run by a handful of KOF fans who bring their own equipment to each event to play KOF. Just having the game there and having people consistently play it makes a difference too.

In my case, I think that wouldn't be a barrier, maybe the only barrier is technology available for me.

But pass this language barrier is what exactly we need. Think about it, VFDC is the main hub for a VF player, but it's available only in English. So could all this data, be accessible only for English speakers? It isn't about MY podcast, it can be YOUR podcast too my fellow FVer. It's in the maximum my idea, and I know it isn't original at all. Anyway, a Greek person would be much more compeled to play if s/he notice some stuff for the game is actually made right next door, in his/her language. Not anything officialy made by SEGA with paid translation in order to reach better the Greek market. It will show that a local scene exist, or is trying to born, at least. Now s/he knows s/he has someone to talk about VF, personally, face to face, not only through internet anymore.

be a podcast, a domestic tourney or whatever...

We need more translators so we can watch the jp tech videos and understand what's being talked about.

Yes! true true. One thing everybody notices, here's the main hub for VF...outside Japan. Over there they have access to so many stuff, they really don't need to access VFDC in order to improve their games or just make new VFer friends. A multitud of mini local sites is more important, but, VFDC should be the "official fan" site. A known place a VFer of any location could go, in case of learning, promoting the game or whatever. If we had all this Japanese suport, we could have a complete wiki for Final Showdown way before the game was released on consoles, and much other benefits.

Tricky, good stuff i in your blog! Anyway, what happened to the "Ready Go!" podcast? Last time I listened to it, 2 Eileen experts where interviewed, one of them was you, I think.

you remember right. Chibi was running the podcast series and illness got in the way of continuing it like it was going before. Streaming kinda replaced it.

Big personalities again, like Bun Bun in the '90s. SEGA themselves putting on events with prizes and hype. Game reviewers who actually sit down with a decent PR who explains the game properly to them, and all of it's plus points like stick support, good netplay, and DLC options.
Visually, it's all there, and looks stunning on a low ping, HD screen, so get those screenshots and vids flying across the web, especially of the gals lookin' fly, cuz hey, like 95% of fighting gamers have to be testosterone raging bros right? ;)

Even just putting something VF related in a signature or avatar and posting on Namco or Capcom related forums can soon increase the visibility and arouse curiosity. Same deal with repping it in your profile info on Live or PSN.

Ultimately, given the under-promoted and often misunderstood nature of Virtua Fighter in the West, we are all essentially ambassadors of the game, in my view.

I want a guide I could look at too. I wanted to do this by basically updating the existing vanilla prima guide, or just using it as a model. But I don't think I'd be able to accomplish it by myself. I scanned the entire guide in case it would be useful. It has a dojo section that explains the basics for all characters, move lists, and also featured moves, that they highlight. Let me know if anyone can use these scans to make an updated FS book.

Streaming replaced the podcasting series because I could do the streaming in the mornings when i wanted to. Podcasts I would have to schedule and I cannot stay up as i used to before that to speak with people about the characters. I really liked doing those podcasts though....

Dude, entrering shoryuken.com forums is a pain! They really want me to write a bio, so I suppose they're cautiously picking up their newbies. But for the sake of the popularity of the podcast, as it is supposed to introduce VF to players of other fighter games, I guess I'll have to pass the "SRK Trial of Fire" XD Wish me luck!

Anywayz, I'm still learning how to do it, seems it pretty simple, but it requires more planning than I tought. 1st episode coming up this or in the nest week, if God permit. So I'm now officially looking for the guests. I'm mainly, but not only, looking for VF players, of course, who played constantly another fighting game, but somehow, somwhen, somewhere tried VF out and now play it constantly too.
    Peace out.

Look for people that can explain the game, more than "It's the deepest and most balanced fighter !" but can't give specifics. I cant stress this enough. I still see people post stuff like that, but they don't even know what Fuzzy Guard is, let alone the Two Choice defensive options.
