Still need to get a gift for a friend or love one? With the upcoming holiday, several holidays sales and products related to VF5FS have been announced. The price for VF5FS has been temporarily reduced for the holidays. From December 18th to January 8th, the PSN version of the game is available for $9.99 or $6.99 for PSN+ subscribers (regular cost $14.99). From December 19th to December 31st, the XBL version of the game is available for 600 MSP (regular cost is 1200 MSP).

In addition, the VF5FS guide and move list application that was mentioned during the launch for iPhone and iPad has been finally released for 99 cents (in US currency). Tricky, who purchased the app, said "the app covers the system mechanics, gives you insight into Sega's understanding of their characters, and gives you all the frame information you could want."

The description from the iTunes Store:

"SEGA, in collaboration with VFDC, has put together this OFFICIAL Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Guide with situational strategy tips and a comprehensive move list for each of the game's 19 characters. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, this app has the tools to take your game to the next level!

    STRATEGY GUIDE
Learn about everything from basic movement to advanced wall attacks within the strategy section of the VF5 FS Guide. Topics include movement, character positioning, ground maneuvers, attacks, defensive actions, wall strategy, combos, frames, and character selection.

    MOVE LISTS
Once you've mastered general gameplay strategy, head to your favorite character's move list to enhance your game. Each move list contains over 100 moves with detailed frame and damage statistics that enable you to prepare for the highest level of competition."

Still needs an update.... There is no hope when it comes to viewing Akira's move list. I'm sure they know about it and it's pretty sad that months have gone by and they still haven't fixed it.

Easy way to get the fix request noted is to log into your App Store account and leave a bad review for the app. These reviews are all recorded on the app store, and customers can read your comments.

The app store also lists a support website address (mine is in the UK):

      www.sega.co.uk/support

This page has emails for product support:

      UK: help@sega.co.uk

      USA: csescalations@sega.com

      plus others...

I just sent this to the UK email:

**Update: I got a support ticket number back for my request! So it is in their system somewhere (hopefully...)

I know i'm from the stone age, but I sure would like a printed version of this!

I have the Virtua Fighter 5 strategy guide. How different is the move list?

Are you asking how different the strategy guide is to the "move list" or the app itself? The app contains some system level info in addition to character move lists.

In either case, and if you're not already aware, then on VFDC you'll find the equivalent resources:
Both of which can be accessed via the main menu bar.

Thanks for the reply. What I meant to say was that I actually have a physical copy of this strategy guide:

      http://www.amazon.com/Virtua-Fighter-Official-Strategy-Bradygames/dp/0744009693

And I was wondering how irrelevant it was compared to the moves/strategies for VF5FS.
I really wish they had a physical copy guide for VF5FS, but I guess I ought to buy the iPhone app on someone's iPhone, since I don't have one myself!

I don't have the guide, but first and foremost, it was written for the first version of Virtua Fighter 5. The latest version, Final Showdown, has changed rather significantly in some areas, so this guide will be incorrect in those places.

If you don't own an iPhone/iPad, then purchasing the app is more a gesture of support for the product which I won't discourage you from. However, in terms of content to help you better understand and play the game, I refer you to resources available freely here on VFDC, in the the previously provided links.
