There's a limited edition of Evo released in Korea. It included an extra DVD with combo footage from TBZone, tournament footage of Version C (Shinz is in it), some tournament from Evo (play is not that great), and performances/explanations of how to do Goh & Brad's moves in real life. It also comes with a large mousepad, cell phone strap and memory card stickers. The Evo game is the same as the US version but completely in Korean (even the rankings).

    SOCAL alive and well

    Hi.

    We're back.

    Crazy week.

92 Plymouth Voyager aka trip to Texas for TiT5 van = Catastrophic Engine Failure = time to buy a new van.

    Short itinerary...

Saturday the 20th: Leave for Oregon for Basenji Nationals (drive almost all day and night - took scenic route up the 101 and 1 to Monterey - Catherine dodged ([2]) a head on with an errant motorcycle - saw a Honda S2000 flipped over [8][9][6][3][2_] - occupants probably dead). Sleep at rest stop.

Sunday: Van blows up 30 miles from Eugene, Oregon. Limp van at 50mph... backfiring, crashing clanging engine noises all the way for 20 miles (so glad it didn't just die). Stop in Eugene, rent mini van, load all 5 dogs and everything into rental van, go to Hillsboro (150 miles).

Monday: start running up massive cellphone bills looking for a new van (so we can go home after the show ends). I have two friends searching internet for good deal on a used Honda Odyssey (I have no internet access on the road). Hillsboro/Portland car dealers try to rip us off. Lose at dog show.

Tuesday: Drive to Bellvue WASHINGTON (200 miles) to buy van. Finish financing deal over multiple 30 minute phone calls on my roaming cell. Self employment requires extra work to prove income. Drive back to Hillsboro (200 miles) in 2002 Odyssey w/16,900 miles on it. We left at 6 am and got back at 6:30 pm. Lose at dog show.

Wednesday: Drive back to Eugene to return rental van (300 mile round trip). Strip 92 Voyager of all personal items and say goodbye to it. Donated old van to charity. Get back to Hillsboro and begin process of selling one of our dogs (not really planned, but that's what kind of trip it's been - someone came to the Basenji Nationals looking to buy a puppy - we said, "hey we have an 18 month old who is beautiful and sweet - you'll fall in love with her"). Lose at dog show.

Thursday - Saturday: Lose at dog show. Sell Basenji T-shirts. Finalize sale of our dog (yes, they fell in love with her - they still have a two week trial period to change their minds - but then they'd have to put her on a plane at their expense).

Sunday: Lose at dog show. Leave for home.

Monday: Stop at 3:30 am to sleep. Get up at 6:00 am. Finish trip. Home at noon. Rest.

    Tuesday: Back to work.

Yes, we're ready to play some VF this Friday night.

Our house still OK for that. It's under construction, but it still works. Where do you all want to play? We have two full setups (one Japanese, one US - two Evo sticks, two ASCII sticks) plus the third TV (everyone bring your RF modulators, PS2s games and sticks). We'll provide the soda - any requests?

More setups = more VF. We have room for at least one more setup. Maybe two. If you can bring a TV + setup, do it. Imagine 5 setups running all night.

PM if you need the address.

P.S. I know there's a meet tomorrow night, but we can't make that. Sorry.

I just pm-ed you about a meet Phoenix. I could be down for a meet tomorrow; depending on where. A meet tomorrow is cool, but if it's too far I would leave very early (I have a test Thursday...stupid school... /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif). Just tell me how long it takes to get there from...let's say LAX...since I'm about 5-10 minutes east from there.

Let me know by tomorrow if it's still on.

    Peace out.

Oh, and I can bring my system and Evo copy, but I've only got one joystick. I've also got the "monster cables" if anyone cares.

ouch sorry to hear about the trip, i think your place would be best, since no one in our pomona crew has the space available, seans new place is horrid, and we just held a meet at brians place and you can meet some new faces. How about saturday though, joon can only do saturdays, im not sure about wess . . . he seems busy everyday (with his new LE korean VF set cough cough).

In the end, I don't think I'll be able to make it this week. I've been crazy busy at work, and I just want to relax tonight. This Friday, I have plans, so I won't be able to make it. If there's something Saturday, I might be able to go...

    See you guys next week.

SOCAL alive and well: Saturday the 4th

    It's time to play!

This Saturday the 4th is a great time for VF4 Evo at Plague's House. Let's get started at 7:30 pm and run till whenever we feel like stopping. The fridge will be stocked with Dr. Pepper and more. Plenty of fast food in the area. Pizza is always a phone call away.

We've got the usual setups: one US, one Japanese. Got a third TV that needs an RF modulator, PS2, etc. If you can bring a full setup (TV, console, game, sticks), go for it. We have enough room for 5 setups total, and it's not like we wouldn't make room for a sixth if needed /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

The attendance of Gribbly and Team Pandemic is officially requested. I'll call Gribbly myself to try and wrench some time out of his schedule - but massive persuasion is probably in order.

Also, everyone perform the special Wes&Joon chant to see if we can get them to come out as well... "Wesandjoon! Wesandjoon! Wesandjoon!"

Just imagine... LPC73, Spotlite, Andy, Joey, Gribbly & Team, PhoenixDth, Sean, GoatCheeseBlues, Willy, Mike90210, SolFizZ, Wes, Joon, TomHilfiger, AI-Thomas, Afroconnexion, KTallguy, Catherine, Plague, and all the new LA and SD players all in the same place.

    Massive.

It's looking like we'll have a big turnout. PM or call if you need the address.

with the inclusions of afro, and 2 older players ive never seen that joey and andy seem to know from last night . . . and im guessing team pandemic has +2 over cam. . . that brings our grand potential of 28 players . . . include sandiego people and we're over 30 . . .

Thats sick, who knew socal scene would get so large. I excpect to see team pandemic this sat !

Those 2 guys are Ken (Lei Fei-used to be Aoi) and Alex (Jacky), who I think generally only go if work allows and the venue is relatively close. I think Joey keeps in touch with them. Bryan and I have played with them once before, and I believe they are stronger on pads than on sticks.

It looks like a lot of people are in for Saturday...This time we should plan who's bringing setups and TVs better, although arcade style was fun.

    Eyepokes=hotness!

Don't forget my friend. I'm positive that he's going to start getting into VF hardcore (he plans on getting a ps2 in the future). Also, one of my friends likes Aikido and Judo; I'm positive that he'll love Goh. It will be difficult (he doesn't really play any fighting games outside of SC), but I'm working on him. These two probably won't be down to travel an hour away for a meet, but hey; it's two more prospects.

As for Saturday...it's uncertain for me. I just found out that a good friend of mine said they might be coming in from Victorville this weekend.

It's angering me how stuff seems to come up "all of a sudden". I wish they knew for sure instead this "maybe" crap. But if they don't show up, I'd definitely be down for the meet. I should know by Saturday, and if I go I'll bring a PS2, joystick, and two gamepads. That's...if... /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif
