Is SC4 that great of a fighting game?

In my case, I moved on to SCIV cuz for me VF is getting repetative and I needed a change of pace since I played almost everyday.
And it's also $60! Who's not gonna play a game that expensive for a straight week or two!?

SC4 is alright, I just purchased this game about 2 days ago. The characters don't feel as stiff as 3, I'm happy that they improved the movement. All in all this game isn't a bad buy, but if R ever comes out on console(hopefully PS360)its VF insanity all over again!

yeah once R comes to consoles i too will forget about all other games for another year. That's pretty much how VF5 justified me buying a second next gen console.

This Fucking Game sucks. Since i paid 60 dollars for this bullshit im going to play for a month then break it.

After what they did to Maxi. Im quite sure Namco never knew what it was doing when it came to fighting games.

Soul Calibut 1 for XBLA should've have the Online Mode not this garbage.

Sorry for this but the rest of this post really has nothing to do with SC4.

Virtua Fighter was the very first 3D fighter I had ever played. Just prior to playing it for the first time, I remember seeing it featured in an old EGM. Having never played it at the time, I was just looking at the pictures and reading the article. For some strange reason, something just drew me to this game. Well, I eventually played the first Tekken when it came out to PS. Tekken didn't stick with me until I played Tekken 2 in the arcade. I became a huge fan. At the time, Tekken was all I played. That was, until VF2 came out to the Saturn. I had gone to the mall with my mom and we went to Sears. She was going to buy me a Nintendo 64 cause that's what I had wanted at the time. Well, when we got there, I saw the Saturn was on sale for $169 and it came with a 3 game package. VF2 was one of them. When I saw that, I was like, mom, I want this instead of a Nintendo 64. So I ended up getting that. Eventually, I would become a Tekken fanatic when Tekken 3 came out. Tekken was all I played. Well, that was until VF4 and VF4:Evo came out. It was then, that I was drawn back to the series which caused me to fall in love with this genre, and I haven't had another #1 favorite since. I still play a heck of a lot of other fighting games, but my heart remains true to Virtua Fighter.

I digress, but this is my fighting games collection.

I never got to play the Fighting Vipers series. Though I did get to play their characters in Fighter's Megamix. Sega should make a new Fighting Vipers. And then make a new Fighter's Megamix pitting the VFers against FVers again.

I honestly disagree with you completely dude. SC4 is a really cool and fun game. Well worth my $60 bucks... I'm not a rich man but I would plop down $60 on a game as good as SC4 any day of the week.

I'm having a great time with the game so far. Maybe you just need to play a little more and let it grow on you.

Maxi is the Eddy Gordo masher character anyways... They shouldn't let anyone get that far by just mashing alone, Maxi or no Maxi...

If that what you call it but coming from the people who create Eddy Gordo that a stupid statement.Last i check Lei Fei can mash his way to victories just as easily. Maxi is(Was)dangerous especially with his short range. If you think you can mashe your way through a Match with Maxi then you are sorry. HE's outclass by character with the Reach that everybody uses. AStaroth,Siegfriend,Kilik Knightmare,Zasalamel,Ceravantes ETC. If you knew better you would'nt say that. This Game sucks period. Once you paid for it you can say anything about it you want.

    <-- Maxi player.

Maxi doesn't get far by mashing at all. Block AA? You get a free throw, BB etc. That pretty much holds true against any of his stance transitions. Blocking a full string can usually be 2A'd. A Maxi that's played well is all about hit confirming, and 3BAK since that's close to his only safe move. Maxi's a paper tiger. He wins if he can intimidate his opponent. If the opponent fights back, Maxi has problems.

(This is constantly dissapointing to Maxi players that still remember the lockdown goodness of SC1. Since then, Maxi's mainly been a poke machine.)

Heh I find Maxi hard to fight against hopefully when I realize how sucky he is
my wins should come with ease eh?

He's really, really vulnerable to interrupts. Just key in on smacking him any time he pauses in a string. B's tend to work nicely.

Well I play Zas. The B isn't always the best bet. I'm sure I'll come up with somethin,
I beat mashers but it's a pain in my ass.

I had my copy for a week or so and didn't have a real chance to play with it until a couple days ago. I love the game and I find the changes quite refreshing for most of the people. Maxi happens to be some I like almost as much as I do Xianghua and I find him more controlled then before and I like that. (I always felt he was too wild before).

To say the game sucks one must play the game with everyone before you say anything bad about it. Right now my focus is on Story mode when I finish that I will be going to the tower. I just wish I could you all online. It was well worth the 60 dollars and after I get a good grasp on every character I think I will be ready for real online play.

You should. His Craziness is toned down to the point where most of the time it feels like Mike Tyson on Ritlin when he fought Lenox Lewis. Anybody with reach will get in Maxi's ass this time around even easier.I'm Still going to learn his flows and everything but he won't be my main anymore.

Play Black Dragon 76's Maxi... He destroys my level 44 Ivy every time, no problem... I'm going to have to do some training mode against Maxi so I can figure out where I'm going wrong.

Still losing to Maxi, but I'll take your word for it. After all <=======
