HE was'nt being sarcastic T-Fam. He said this about Lucky and a few other good defensive players but i thought he was really bullshitting until they verified it by saying he leaves after a match. I was just saying its kinda fucked up to let yourself get beat so easily because somebody can play some D by just laying down.

Maybe what jeneric said is true.

    About the "Online Generation"

Simply put, there is the online experience and the offline experience. Just because you play online doesn't mean you can't play offline. Now, if you know you can't play online then it's as simple as that. Does everyones playstyle translate to offline smoothly? You have to play them offline to see if they adapt to what works and doesn't work.

It's really not that hard. I still say the majority of people who win constantly online will win offline with little deviation and vice versa.

Keep in mind some of us, have been playing VF since VF1 offline, so if theres a bad habit to break it won't be that difficult if it's there.

Re: Here Piggies, Have a Pearl!

There are plenty of people who will not indefinitely play against someone who they find annoying to play and this typically corresponds to players who beat them. In my experience, I am actually one of the more dogged players online, imo. I experince way more people who leave while I am generally beating them than vice versa. And I have only become more stoic lately in terms of staying even against dmpk-happy opponents.

Yes, I have found GT annoying to fight against in the past. This could be less so were we to fight now since I have worked to revise slightly the rhythm of my game, but I admit that the whiffing of attacks and throws was more frustration than I wanted to bear. I'm not attacking GT here because I acknowledge his skills, just the way he utilizes them has frustrated me in the past.

And I hate fighting the better Shun players and find his inclusion in game irritating and essentially one big design mistake. I even have some difficulties with mid-level shun spammers, especially if they use dmpk a lot.

I do not avoid the best players and actually find them fun to fight against. I am talking about players better than those that I have avoided in the past, apparently to great fanfare. I play VF5 because I like certain aspects of VF a lot. A lot of these have been subverted in VF5, yet sometimes I will even play long sets with people who have built a game around a particular char's ways of getting out of typical VF situations with VF5 wackiness. I think it's lame that AM2 made it possible to play the game that way, but it is what is. Cervantes or Jann Lee or the breakdancing kangaroo are not viable options.

To to sum this up, I do not avoid losses and competition, and I find waaaaaaay more people on this site who leave after I win the first 4,5,6 matches than vice versa. The difference is that I am actually candid about this. Then the nerd jackals descend, especially if I dare question the value of wonky wankery.

Apparently the Swedish Confucian scholar generic believes I think I am cleverly thinking outside the box when in fact am clueless as to the true nature of the box.

    ZING!!!!!!!!

    I am chastened.

This is, I guess a way of acting superior in some sense because he tries to learn adv and dis by studying frames whereas I try to glean them through experience. It is odd that this critique would cross someone's mind. To actually express this sentiment is an act of such depraved nerdiness, that I think it may constitute a crime against humanity.

I am trembling with fear as I await the next Communique from generic's Arctic Command Center.

PS - I have no beef with anyone here. I mean all of this playfully. I am watching football and find it weirdly entertaining to parry the assorted silliness.

    Happy New Year, Nerds!

Believe it or not, that signature came before this thread and is not aimed at you, it has another target.

(Post removed because of too much truth and I quite simply give up)

And to clarify, by "online generation" I don't mean people who play online, I mean a specific mindset that you can see in all fighting game communities.

Re: Here Piggies, Have a Pearl!

Dude, I question your reading comprehension. Here are a few points that I will write with no hint of irony so as to avoid misunderstanding.

    1) Yes, I personally think DMPK is a bullshit design choice whose flaws become amplified with even the tiniest lag...but I deal with it and in fact am better than most players at punishing it. We can disagree about this.

    2) I like to play the best players I can find. I once split a set with a Japanese player in EVO where I went 150-3...er, he went 150-3. And I like to play the other best players I can find, but I shall not name drop b/c that is just too lame. There are 2 or 3 guys who just make me say "meh..." and they are not even the best players.

    3) I said that Tekken appeals to a lot of NA players (moreso than VF) because it is accessible for spammers, not that it is purely a spamfest. I take people's word for it that the game has more depth once you have the requisite knowledge. I will never get to that point because:
    A. I hate memorizing combos
    B. I think Tekkens throw and wake-up system are horrible
    C. I think the character design over-all is embarrassingly lame. I think the silliness is, uh, silly (bear, robot, puma wrestler with package writing on his speedo, dude with magical 14 inch blonde flattop, breakdancing kangaroo, effeminate flying satan with eye-lasers, etc)

All of the above is factually accurate. The subjective statements are obviously subjective and I know you disagree. That is fine. You may think I am a scrub since that is subjective. The hypocritical part does not seem as accurate, especially since you mischaracterize what I have written.

The outdated 4Chan pics are corny folks, stop it. Back on topic. They have a bigger scene over there(Japan)So therefore, they get to see more "shenanigans" and mix-ups than we usually do. A good example of this is that broken ass game "Marvel vs Capcom 2" We have(US) a bigger scene for that game than Japan. There's obvious reasons why, but the point is that they've a small hardcore scene out there for that game, but they're not as good as the US players due to one thing, competition, plain and simple.

Just for the record, and I hate doing this because it ruins the, uh, joke, but my Wonderwoman pic was intentionally the most offensively wack picture I could find on the internet and was really meant to mock the whole institution of the snarky jpeg as a valid form of expression.

On a side note, I think that this may be my VFDC swansong. I personally like a lot of the VF players that I know from on and off-line, but I really don't see the point in typing any more about this and that. "Oh Happyfriend likes mustard what a dick" "Oh happyfriend questions the wisdom of dmpk" "Oh happyfriend don't like eye lasers cuz he's ignorant"

And you know what? Even I don't give a fuck about whether happyfriend likes or dislikes this or that. This site has become a joke. You can't even speak ill of breakdancing kangaroos without a bunch of Scandinavians acting like you just smashed all their ABBA records and strangled their pet baby seal in front of them.

    Fuck nerds.

I don't mean people who are into nerdy shit, because that would definitely be me. I mean groups of OCD jerk-offs who band together and attempt to create and enforce some pitiful idea of orthodoxy by forming a pathetic in-group of social misfits who act as each other's Ed McMahon/fluffer whenever any challenge to the alpha nerds arises.

    Fuck nerds.

Cheeze and bellyaching rice, Happy, you're on a fucking roll, I love it when you post shit like this, no homo.
Sadly, you're right, it is pointless/useless/frugal to disagree with anybody on tha intawebz. I mean, what's the point, really? Nobody is going to change their mind about anything.
I think you could prob count on both hands the number of times that somebody has seriously conceded to an opposing point of view or even understood or seen where somebody else was coming from and say something like: "Hey, while I may not agree with what you've written, I see where you're coming from. Let's stop now before we start hurling unwarranted insults at one another." online.

Very few people in real life ever come back after an argument and say things like "Hey, I was out of line before, my bad." So why would anybody do it online? Arguments such as these or I-don't-like-X-game-because-I-think-it's-stupid never get anywhere. You're ALWAYS going to have somebody saying "Hey idiot, X game isn't stupid. Tell me your reasons why you think it's stupid." and then when you give them YOUR reasons for not liking X game, they will tell you that you're wrong and that YOUR reasons are stupid [IMG]

To each their own, people. I mean, you can hate VF, I mean, really truly hate it but why come on VFDC (VirtuFighterDotCom) to talk bad about VF? If Happy Friend had been talking like this on TekkenZaibatsu I would totally understand some of these replies he's gotten, but... on VFDC? [IMG]
Let the guy shit on Tekken or Karate Champ or whatever other game this website isn't dedicated to. I mean, is it really that serious? Must you guys really come to Tekken's defense everytime? I mean, I don't hate Tekken but I'm not going to try to convince anybody on VFDC that it's good if they don't like it. Just like I don't go to SRK, DOA Central or TekkenZaibatsu to defend VF when people shit all over it. As long as they're not shitting on VF while on VFDC, who gives a fuck... really... get selious!

It's interesting how the state of Japan's VF scene vs NA's VF scene boiled down to blaming the breakdancing kangaroo for the apparent weakness of the NA VF scene.

Nobody blames the guy with a spin dryer in is abdomen. Or the ninja girl who has tits bigger than my head. Or flying yellow haired aliens, or that kid with a fox inside him, or that plumber dude and his friends, or the MMA crew. It's especially telling that nobody blames themselves.

Nah. Blame the Kangaroo. Blame the single mom.

Talk about racism and sexism. Tsk.
