An interesting note, Aswelio (phonetically spelled), a top fighter from Chute Boxe, said that karate may well be the next revolution in MMA, since if you train it full power, it offers a more diverse set of attacks and angles than Muay Thai.

Oh yeah - Akido leads to brainwashing. Period.

How the fuck is kyokushin not karate?

And I don't see how karate is the next revolution in MMA. What does it off besides some popular spinning kicks which put you on the ground?

Angles and variety was mentioned, reading the points mentioned would answer your q,
Mma is still evolving anyways in my opinion.
Btw on topic in the last ufc Karo Parisyan demonstrated the usefulness of judo! 0_o

I don't understand how Kyokushin isn't a style of karate unless you're discounting it because Mas Oyama was born in Korea. If you're saying it isn't karate based on the fact that the average kyokushin practioner would lay waste to the average "real" karate practioner then I agree otherwise I think you're splitting a very fine hair.

Never said it does not, but it tends to throwing them with the most force force, not nessisairly the most accuracy...read carefully.

And you would know this because you take muay thai and/or kyokushin.... ?

Honestly, the training methods are not that much different. A kick is a kick a punch is a punch. There hasn't been a revolution in either in the last 50 years.

Why don't you guys just train in your prospective martial art for like five years and then meet up and kick the beat the crap out of each other? Then an actual conclusion can be made.

I got the 5 years down
    Taekwondo (wtf) since 1992
Bjj 3 years - with that I work with two thai stylists.
    Boxing - 2 years.
The difference with the kicks is how the hips are used, striking surface, method of recovery, etc. We ever meet up, I will be glad to show you. I have made fighting arts a study of mine since 8th grade. Ask smurfy or anybody else who knows me - I know my shit.

Honestly, the only guys that actually have different kicks are feitosa and filho. other than that, every kyokushin guy does a roundhouse like a MT guy.

It's true. This one time, at band camp, he slipped and fell into a pile of feces, looked up with a smile on his face and proclaimed "tastes like horse shit". Crazy how he just knew!

    Feitosa vs Schildt

Even being a Dutchman I was actually rooting for Feitosa on that one. Schildt is one serious piece of injury waiting to happen for anyone going up against him, well versed in his techniques and far faster than he looks. Feitosa on the other hand is an absolute pleasure to watch. I always wonder how many times he was beat up upon as a kid, getting his knee dislocated in three places or something?

In general 'twas a weird final tournament last year... With Schildt making short work of Bonjasky as well. I was really hoping Bonjasky could kick it 'Kennorsing style' against a far larger opponent, but heck, it was not to be.

Also a shame that neither LeBanner nor Aerts was able to continue after their fight as well...

Can't wait for the Amsterdam event though...
    I'm there dudes... ^_^
