weird, was it an oversight that they forgot to post it? Their filesize is a little short I think.

Hey Ragnafrak. Are you having playback problems like the one that SuperG and Nam are hosting? After 1hr and 30 mins in it becomes basically unwatchable. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The one that supergolden/namflow/tbzone/etc are hosting is the same as my original saved file. I have only watched around 45 minutes of the entire thing, so if there are problems it will probably be due to the original save (ie: variance in the download speed.. not a problem with your player/computer.. probably just a problem in the original streambox)

    Replicant,
the problems you're having or experiencing is that the feed was choked during recording. Imagine the bandwidth of info Sega's servers must've been pumping out, and a dropping of feed is inevitable. Also, your ISP's bandwidth is another limitation... but since it was webcasted at 10:00PM in the states, that may not have been a problem.

Alrighty, hopefully someone will have a clearer copy available soon or I'll have the extra cash for the DVD next month. Sucks to DL 800mb for nada. Oh well, back to Quest mode.

Even though the video is rougher in midstride, it's still a great video due to the VF scene we rarely see- the human perspective. Usually we just watch the matches, which some of us are only interested in. But for me, I find the human element, what the player is like outside of the persona we see or IMAGINE just seeing the screen.

For me, I like it's entertaining to see reactions before, during, and after matches. Segaru's brooding demeanor is very entertaining to watch. Seeing the face behind the Lion (Chibita) was surprising to say the least the first time I saw a video of Chibita. I always imagined him to be more of Segaru's character.

Also, many (if not all of the first one and a half hours) of the matches that Ragnafrak recorded are very watchable.

So to me, the 800MB download is GOLD.

Oh, and best of all, we are exposed to the Japanese VF tournament scene.... UNEDITED.

    I know, it's an example...

saw the first tournament. And was using that example.. you know, the one with Napoleon. After that, I couldn't help but be a Segaru fan.

Chibita can never win a big Tournament . . .
Arashi gets eliminated first round . . .
Homestay and Ohsu head off early for newcomer Minami to take the title . .
Heruru cant beat the double palm . . .

What is this world coming too !!!

    ...and what happened to MukkiAkira?
    ...where was Yu Suzuki?
    ...where was Joe?
    ...where was Shu? Kurita?MusclesSarah? MaskDeHijet...whatever?

Lotta names I've gotten used to didn't even qualify.

Parity, it's happenning in sports, as in VF it seems.

OH, and don't remind me that Yu didn't qualify.

I think that many of the famous players play in the same arcade.
And only one player from each arcade can qualify for these tournaments.
So that would be the main reason for them not to be there.

Exactly. There were a number of arcades that hosted the local qualifiers for the tournament. Then the winner of each area went to the finals in Tokyo. I missed the tourney in my area by a week or so, but baiagu won and that arcade still has the tournament brackets and results displayed right next to the evo machines.

The sad thing imo is that the people in the finals were baiagu and his buddies (the people he plays against everyday no doubt).

    Re: Ragnafrak

ok, i think i figured out a way for people who dont want do/cant upgrade to wmp 9 to view that tournament vid postet by supergolden.

I myself am running win2k with wmp 6.4 and didnt want to upgrade. I couldnt view wmv movies that used the wmp 9 codec and didnt want to upgrade. i couldnt view the latest daioh vids and stuff.
but since now the need is here:

you have 2 ways to get this vid running:
    1. if you are on win98 (not se), then download windows media player 7.1 from microsoft:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/winmediaplayer/wmp71/7.1/W982KMe/EN-US/mp71.exe

then you download the vmp9 codec pack:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/0/3/a0398036-25b9-410c-b371-c59957c1b0f4/WM9Codecs.exe

install it. now you will need a decompressing programm for wmp9 files. get it here:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/8/a/98a6cb2d-6659-485e-b1f9-2c0d9bf6c328/wmv9VCMsetup.exe

this will allow you to play all the vmp9 files.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

now i have wmp 6.4 on win2k and didnt want to upgrade to 7.1 or higher. but in order to install the wmp9 codecs, you need at least wmp7.1.
    so i tried the following:
    i downloaded wmp8 codecs:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/winmediatech40/Install/8.0/WIN98Me/EN-US/wmpcdcs8.exe

and then the wmp9 decompressing programm:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/8/a/98a6cb2d-6659-485e-b1f9-2c0d9bf6c328/wmv9VCMsetup.exe

and it worked. now the daioh wmv vids work, as well as supergoldens .asf file.

give it a try. you dont really need to upgrade your player, just download the wmp8 codecs, install them, and then install the Video Compression Manager.

    Re: Ragnafrak

    Bear,
I uploaded my recordings of the original tourney.. I only caught a little more than half of it.
    *1 104MB .asf file
*1 350+MB .asf file (this has been cut up to 7 RAR files)
The reason there's two files is that I was cut off, then didn't realize it for about 2-3 minutes.

How do "I" get them? Hop on IRC. How? Click the IRC link just below the VFDC banner above. Hop on an Efnet server. Go to #vfhome... and you should se @Creed lurking... or the others.. ask them how to d/l the files...

Download WINRAR at www.winrar.com You'll need it to stitch back the RAR files. You need all 7 RAR files, and you'll notice the 7th rar file is only 30+MB compared to the 50MB for the first 6. This is normal.
Click on the first RAR file (2_jamshow_file1.rar) and drag the "wmv" icon to your desktop or other directory.

Now guys, there are drops in feed in my recordings. They are not perfect. You will notice teeth gnashing pain in the final round (heruru and minami). but overall, the video drops less in my recording. The only problems arose toward the end of the 2nd file. For those about to bitch, just remember, you're lucky some folk that the thoughtfullness to even record for the sake of sharing the video to those without the means to have seen the webcast, or not know about the webcast. Mucho thanks Ragnafrak.

Guys, you should give thanks to BMW- for hosting the files, MYKE and ICE-9- for this forum as a vessel to express various VF related shit, and CREED- for being the good natured guy he is on IRC and this board- really, for his undying passion to archive VF media for the kinfolk. Shit, this is sounding like the oscar awards.
Get downloading, and someone, please make an indexed copy /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Guys, my thanks to ya! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where can I download the video compression manager? I dug around on the MS site and I couldn't find the application used to decompress the files ... please don't tell me it's windows media encoder 9, which I can't run on win98se. /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif
