? There's plenty risk. And not much reward. They only absorb one hit (granted high or low), they do very little damage (like the old guard attacks in other KoFs), unsafe on block, throwable in between absorb and hit if spacing is bad. I hardly see them being used actually.

Also, the normal throws actually do more than most specials in the game.

You can cancel light attacks into rolls, but not the fierce ones (smart on their behalf). Also, I think the rolls have the most recovery and slowest roll speed out of any KoF? So backroll isn't as stupid as it once was lol.

That's good. I liked 2002 the most though, because backrolling was not a smart thing to do, plus you couldn't break throws while rolling in that one. I'm hoping that in this new one if they're borrowing from previous ones they lean more toward 2002 over 98, for speed and controls also.

Yup, can throw rolls all you want in this one.

This game could end up being a beast. Besides A3, kof has always been more up my alley for 2d over SF, but a3 was just too strong of a game a few years back so I had dropped 2002. I might have to cop XII on the triple cause I know Emil will want me to play.

Yeah, KoFs tend to be fun regardless of how well made they end up. Like, my favorite is XI haha. Well, Garou if we count that as a Kof but it doesn't count haha.

Exactly what I was thinking. With 3 characters per go, it can actually become quite intense.

So far it looks like every char is capable of a 65%~ combos with a CC and a super.

All the vids I have seen so far do not show a game that is broken or any infinites, so to me it looks a lot like VF5R, one mistake can cost you the match!

Regarding combos, I have been yearning for a game not combo heavy...I dont want to practice 150 hit combos for 0.001 point of damage after the 5th hit...if I have to memorize so much input, I'm better off learning to play the piano and become a piano artist or something lol.

All of this IMO, so dont come here trolling plese.

Well fighting games aren't really fun unless your working at learning or achieving something, if you don't want to worry about what your pressing too much but still want to get wins then you could always play Tekken /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    LOL

Well my feeling is that SNK knew that KOF had become a niche game and wanted 12 to be more NOOB friendly, so they got rid of 56 hit combos and gave everybody simple yet damaging combos.

What I meant was that I am willing to practice, but it would be nice to play a game where once you read your opponent right, you can punish them for their predictability. (Something like Virtua Tennis, if I'm allowed a cross-genre example)

^^ Well, the way KOF looks right now, it seems that way. Bait, counter, capitalize, pressure.

Seems fun to me. I hope they'll release a DL demo on for both BlazBlue and KOF.

Feck: Ah nevermind. BR's a great game, but it really is just your loss if you close your mind and not even bother learning it before writing it off.

Chill out Kuato, my mind is already open /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Anyway no reason why I should write Tekken off. My earlier post was a joke and really had nothing to do with Tekken, it was aimed at Matteo's laziness.

How many of you used to play KOF before? I played KOF98 a lot when I was a teenager and played a bit of 2k2 on 2DF with a friend. I usually play Terry, Kim and Robert and fortunately KOFXII has all 3. However, with Iori's change to a style more reminiscent of MOTW's Freeman, I might play him instead of Kim or Robert this time around (Terry is my best so I'm keeping him). Ash Crimson looks interesting too and would go very well with my "manly mains" (Vega/Claw in STHDR, Lion in VF5)

Too bad they don't have King in XII, it's a character I've always wanted to learn and my favorite female char in FGs :~

But so what about you all? Who did you used to play and who are you planning to main this time around?

I always went with this team,, Iori, Kim, Terry. And my Sub-Squad- Clark, Robert, Ahtena(Psycho BaLL!)Or K, Kyo, Kensou. I'm usually pretty solid with everyone. I love using Mai, Blue Mary, Leona and freaking Goro. He was my dude in KOF 95. DarkVincent, you picking this up on the PS3?

Yeah I am =) That and BlazBlue.

What do you think of Kensou in XII? From what I've seen in videos he is very different from previous versions now!

Yeah I see almost everyone who hasn't played KOF is picking Terry and Robert too. That's one more reason for me to want to dump Robert for Ash or Iori. I know I can't drop Terry ;(

Pretty much everyone except for Athena and Ash appeal to me at this point. And even then, they have some fun looking stuff.

My main squad will start out as Kim, Kensou, Kyo. Second squad will be Leona, Iori, Shen.

I played KOF 94 and 95 in my local arcade in Italy when I was 20 years old together with my younger brother. It was a special time of my life and the memories of playing Vs my friends in the arcade all day are great.

Unfortunately after KOF95 I stopped playing games in the arcades, I bought them all but never played them again competitively (I was travelling around, saw the scene in Australia and Japan, people were nuts for KOF97).

After KOF98 the game changed and became darker, and I somehow got tired of the recicled sprites.

My favourite stage will always be the KOF97 carnival one, thats what represent the spirit of KOF for me (together with the Neo Geo stage in KOF95). It's colorful and fun, I didn't like fighing in a sewer lol.

Anyway, It seems that XII captures the spirit of older KOF's nicely. I am so looking forward to apply the experience I gained on VF to this game.

The roster being smaller that usual I am hoping of learning every character before the next one comes out and things gets out of hand. I like them all right now, Terry being the coolest and Athena being not so cool LOL.

I don't actually remember when I stopped playing, but it was before Ash and K came on board. I remember playing against Rugal et al, and thinking "damn, what a badass boss character."

Then I stopped playing 2D completely because comp died. Now that BlazBlue/XII is hopefully online, I can't wait to play against everyone. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Feck: All good.
