KOF XIII Announced

I havent had much time to play KOF XIII but its a good game so far. i lot better than XII. Gameplay is wayy smoother. XIII is a great come back by SNK. I hope Snk will release dlc characters from their other fighting games.

 

Speaking of DLC characters, £3.50 seems a bit much for one character.

 

I'm not too savvy on the exchange rates as of late, but compared to the other games, this is probably the best deal. You get the character, a stage, stage bgm, and the trials and such.

To my knowledge, BBCS2 had a character, song and trials. You had to buy SSF4AE to get 4 new characters, which seems great, but there's still the balance issue...

 

Yeah, 5 bucks a character is steep, but when I think of the initial cost of the game, plus the stage/song/trials you also get, it seems reasonable for sure. I think if you buy all three characters the game only comes out to be 5 dollars more than the average title.

P.S. I freaking love this game. The trials scared me at first. I remember picking 12 up with no problem and was really struggling with some missions. Then I realized some are hard for the sake of being hard and there's easier alternatives for actual match play.

Marly, I didnt get it yet. I am still ambivalent about it. Its not about money, its just that I dislike the system so much. I dont like the dexterity involved in the game. I know, I know, its just that I had my share of KOF.

Yeah I gotta get down on that HD bypass stuff, it's too good not to use for some characters. Good stuff too! Not even a huge fan of Billy but still enjoyed the vid.

 

Update for those that don't know, there is a patch for the game that has been released in Japan and Europe so far, and eventually it will hit the States...

Rough Translation from Professor (from MMCafe):

Ranked Match: You can now set your rooms so that players with low bars or low disconnects can’t join in.

Custom Match: Your room and filter settings will be temporarily memorized by the game.

Connection Display: The Antenna’s level display has been improved (I guess this means it won’t lie like it used to)

Online Connection: The stability of online connection has been overall improved (Note that it says stability, not speed.)

Player Data: Fix(es) have been made to “Player Data†(What exactly the fixes are, it doesn’t say.. probably the reset bug)

Replay: Fix(es) have been made to “Replay†(What exactly the fixes are, it doesn’t say.. my guess is the delete bug: you deleted files on the 1st page no matter what you did.)

Misc: Some fixes have been made to “Customizeâ€, and also to issues caused with certain characters.

My only concern is that they give us a quick button map option with extra layout settings... There's alot of new schoolers who play with the default setting, and I'm old school, so I use the classic "rainbow" layout...

 

The update improves the online pretty nicely. If this had been the launch netcode, or come out before SC5, but SNK has the worst timing.

It's at least SF4 quality now.

SC5's online is way better.

Between KOF and SC, I think I'm going to be satisfied until FS hits no matter what.

 

I'm actually surprised the game is getting mad buzz even after the whole netcode fiasco... But then again, MK9 played the same song, and they had to patch their netcode up a bit, as did SF4...

I'm loving the fact that I can enjoy this with an offline scene though, especially one that's starting to draw new people from all over the area...

I haven't been able to test the netcode totally just yet, but eventually, I'll be able to do so, and post up my results/thoughts... From what I'm hearing though, cats on DC are able to plan for online FT10, and a few other events...

Netcode is the same as it was before the patch, only now it takes twice as long to get a player match; and is it just me or is everybody trying to be a Clark player now wtf is that all about.

 

I've noticed a real improvement, some folks that I had 3 bars and lag beforehand are now 4 bars and very smooth.

Some 2's and now 3's and decent connections. I'd say the game is roughly SF4 quality netcode- or at least bare minimum acceptable now.

 

I tested it last night, and it's not bad... I managed to pull more combos off, but you still can't do frame heavy combos, especially HD combos (s.C, HD, s.C, [Mature's rekkas to Metal Massacre] * 3, qcb,hcf+B). I can sometimes get the s.C link after connecting with her EX Metal Massacre, but its not as consistent...

Apparently, the game has done well enough to port the console version back to the arcade... Will that mean new characters other than the 5 added??? Maybe not right away, but I have a strong feeling were gonna see more EX characters as well as some not so EX characters... I'm still praying for a balanced Geese, Gai Tendo (with his XI commands), Gato, and Rock (but SNK said we'll never see Rock again in anything else [¿?])...

Just got myself a copy, I can justify it at that price even if I am not going to enjoy it.

 

May I ask why??? I'm already aware the only one you like is XII, but that's neither here nor there...

 

Curiosity I guess. I can pretty much sell it for the same amount, so I just wanted to check it out.

TBH I am waiting to get Binary Domain and this is just to fill the time until then...and FS.
