Who the hell is this Shang character?

Some characters get 3, others can get only 2 (like Shun). It's weird and not strictly related to weight. I should probably research /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

 

Well, I know on El Blaze, you can do two jabs without holding forward, two jabs with holding forward and you have to hold forward to do it with three jabs.

It's pretty weird with regards to Shun and him only getting 2 jabs. =/

Doesn't really make any sense to me. I don't see how there can be any other factors other than weight.

Maybe the more he drinks, the more weight he gains. >_>

 

You need to consider how a character's feet hang when they are floated. It is different for different characters. Also, a character's height is a factor. Shun is short, so his feet are closer to his center of gravity compared to other characters like Kage, Jacky, or especially Wolf and Jeff.

I say this in all seriousness:

Give Shang a login to edit the Kage wiki. There's nothing there, and he actually wants to contribute. Since they are separate logins, you wouldn't necessarily even have to worry about his forum antics.

As for him shitting on noob advice . . . you may not like his style of delivery, but I'd rather have someone call bullshit on bad advice than let it pass.

 

there's really nothing stopping Shang from posting all of his information on his blog and showing up VFDC - it just seems that he'd much rather be a complete ass for the benefit of amusing himself and his fans.

the situation hasn't really changed from when he could post here and now that he can't. Kinda funny that all of the pro-shang people can't see that (by the way, shang has a title for you guys but he's letting Myke's friends use it right now).

The dude is just unpleasant. Besides the Kage is a cheap Mf thread that got out of control. He was basically right in that thread, and the people he dissed werent all "n00bs" they were people who just read half the thread, and chimed in or misread the whole thing and chimed in. And Shang bitch slapped them for it.

But if you were on VFDC for any amount of time, you would see that SHANG was basically negative and cursed excessively for like no reason. A simple opinion of his about VF 5 Ps3 being a half assed port spiralled into him basically flipping off everybody who plays VF. He's more instead of saying the glass is half full, he'll say the glass is contaminated with ecolli and the water has urine in it.

There's two sides to everything , yeah. On one side, people on this thread are saying Unsafe Dan is the new generation of VF5 "sage's" On Shang's side U.D. is a n00b who doesn't even OWN VF5 and gets half his information from videos. But even if Shang has a valid point,he's so arrogant most people won't listen. I looked at his blog, and the reason he slammed Unsafe Dan's "combo"is you can Tech recover and avoid the double palm. So you really didn't tell both sides, Familia. He's saying don't listen to Unsafe because he's teaching bad habits that will only work on the CPU. And telling him to "go back to dojo mode n00b" was just his colorful way of saying he has a lot to learn. Basically he's saying why endorse something as gospel if there's a chance it may whiff.

 

But according to myke and plague.... you can't techroll that combo.... that's the part that's weird to me. I mean he lists latter on in his post that you can do 3x jab then bounce to double plam but according to him you can't 2xjab to bounce and double palm because they can techroll. I remember plague and other akira players doing it to me all the time so it just seemed weird to me.

I've never called myself a new generation sage, Plague said that I'm excited about VF and I want to learn more and more about it and it was nice of him but I don't think I'm real knowledgable on VF. I just take info that other people have found and organize it or present it to others who need it. Why? Because no one else will do it nowadays. When I came on this site and posted for help a lot of people helped me out. Now that I've played VF a lot I want to help other people starting out too, I don't see whats wrong wit that. I mean I'm only really saying stuff I know, and if I'm wrong I correct myself and admit it.

I remember talking to Alex (pheonixdth) about Shang a long time ago and he basically summed up shang in the best way possible.

"He's the kind of guy that talks a lot of shit and is hilarious but you know he's just joking."

I don't dislike Shang, I got to meet him in real life and he isn't that bad, unfortunately his online stuff kind makes him seem bad doesn't it lol? He also helped me out by telling a lot of tidbits like in shinanigans thread I made to try and sort out all the weird stuff in VF.

 

There's a big difference between calling out bad advice and insulting someone.

The latter isn't acceptable in any situation, whereas the former is perfectly permitted and I believe encouraged.

From my understanding, Shang would do about 90% of the latter and 10% of the former (if even that). If he could get rid of the vulgarity and condescending attitude in his posts, I think he'd be a more than welcome guest at VFDC. He has, however, proven time and time again that he will not change, as evidenced by his previous bans (and now his blog). There's only so many second chances someone can get.

I don't think Myke wants VFDC to become a place where people are afraid to call out bad advice. I'm sure he'd encourage it. That's how discussions get started. That's how lessons are learnt. I'm also sure that he doesn't want players (new and old alike) to be afraid of posting advice, strats and asking questions for fear of being insulted. Why would anyone post about VF or try to discuss VF in such an unwelcoming environment? It is for this reason that Shang was banned. Whether his posts were entertaining or not, he was making VFDC a hostile place for VFers (especially new players) to discuss the game.

 

Unsafe_Dan, that tech rolling issue simply becomes a "can you tech roll bounce attacks" question. IIRC, you can't. 2 punches or 3 punches shouldn't change the fact that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif bounces your opponent, so you shouldn't be able to tech roll.



...Of course, I could always be wrong. >_<

 

My issue is that having an internet "persona" is fuckin' stupid. Don't think for a second he wants to help, he just wants the attention. Hell he's probably trying to jacking off to the fact that his name is in a thread header.

Maybe in 10 years when he might start acting like an adult I won't think he's lame as fuck, til then fuck him.

 

Originally I was thinking to defend Shang for a second, then I went to read his little bitchfest of a blog and saw where he started taking shots anywhere and everywhere, namely at me. He mentioned how I was a "noob giving shitty advice" but failed to mention how the Wolf threads languished for months on end when I got to them. Does he roast the Wolf players who are skilled enough to offer advice, but don't? No... just me. Cause I have that youtube vid of getting the P+K chop - Pedigree over and over.

It's nice to know that after I'm done with video games and the like, Shang will still be at his computer railing on VFDC unable to move on in his pathetic life.

 

Well according to Shang, EVERYBODY on this site is a n00b, so dont feel bad Destro. The dude should NEVEr be allowed to come back here, he's pathologically negative and angry. But with his venomfilledrants there is a grain of truth. We have people here posting combos and saying as far as I know ,you cant Tech roll this combo, or according to myke and Plague you cant techroll it. One should check a combo THEMSELVES ten times over before posting it, not relying on others information. And test it against someone GOOD,not your buddy who doesnt even play vf5 and doesnt know what a techroll even is, or against the cpu which is worthless. As good as Myke is he's not god. Shang was debating whether he knew the recovery on Kage's b+k. But of course is Shang Curse someone and rip himto ribbons over the most trivial thing, he's probally not averse to lying either.

As negative as Shang is, he's funny sometimes. The part that had me cracking up was he was challenging Myke to a first to ten VF5 challenge so he could be reinstated if he wins. People should just join Shag's blog and curse himout till he bans them, then ask to be let back on. But we have better things to do.
