this thread gives me a guilty pleasure because I've had similar conversations myself. I end them with a swift SPoD to the balls to save myself the agony and frustration of the conversation.

 

Just out of curiosity.. is the game any good?

 

Supposedly it's excellent and because of that and the recall it's selling at a high price on ebay.

 

It's still pretty ironic though, I skimmed through most of the posts in here sorry man.

Wow, the issue is so much more complicated than that. Cop out answer.

And the word cencorship is way too strong for this situation. Taking out the bit up Qur'an has no effect on the integrity of the game.

Should've patched it though to avoid delays.

 

Cencorship is exactly what this is. I'm not against the move, but call a spade a spade.

 

Mad props and respect to Dr. Jasser. If somebody can't force you on how to feel or what you can/can't say about your religion then you shouldn't be able to force anybody on what to feel and say/not say about your religion either.
I believe in respecting other people's religions and all but if you don't like my religion for whatever reason, neither I, the media or the government should be able to force you on what you can say or not say about it.
It'd be messed up if some dude was burning crosses on his yard accross from my home and I'd prob ask him to please stop but to try to FORCE him to stop? or THREATEN him?
That's more extremist than the cross-burning.

 

1. I don't understand why they just didn't change the game rating.

2. This is dumb. Its a video game. If it offends you don't play it.

3. Southpark did an episode on this already. It was about Family Guy having muhamed appear on the show. It made some very good points.

4. Finally, no if they offended Jesus there would be no recall.

The idea that someone "forced" the developers to remove the reference is baffling. Media molecule patched this themselves as soon as they realized what was going on. Why offend someone if it isn't necessary, or even tangentially related to the theme of the game?

Similarly, the idea that there is somehow a double standard with regard to christianity is bogus. There are plenty of examples of bible / cross references resulting in games being edited or excluded from U.S. release, from Devil World up through La Pucelle.

 

Thing is, who was really offended? I wasn't, It was an honest mistake. And I haven't heard anything from the muslim community save for some "official" responses after the fact.

Been enjoying it the past two days. More than I thought I would with the single player. Each new area just seems to get better and better, and you run into really well thought out levels. Game just makes you happy /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
