... Did you even look at that post? You just saw that Jae's name was higher than Dong's, but they're both A. That means they're even, but it also depends on who you ask. And since dustloop is mainly a Guilty Gear community, I say, come back with some Tougeki.

I really don't think it's an uphill battle for most of the cast. Every character has good tools, some are just... well, a lot better than others.

That tier list also says Marco's low, but I really don't believe that. I don't think he's broken... but I really don't think he's low. How is Rock bottom? Rock never seemed bottom to me.

You also have to remember that Garou has a really small cast for a 2D fighter... so if the same characters are appearing in match vids, it's probably a coincidence.

As for Kevin being on 'another level'... that tier list you gave a link to also says that Gato and Jenet are top. Every game has characters that are 'top tier'. Doesn't make the game unbalanced or broken.

Garou's an awesome game. I wish there was a bigger scene for it in America.

Hey Violet do you play Garou on GGPO?

    No... I'm not sure exactly how to run GGPO. Usually, my bf just does it because I'm not good at using emulators yet. ><;

I had forgotten that Garou was on that. Along with Vampire Savior. x3333

I love the MI series. B. Jenet is awesome... but Rock's in Garou and MI, too! Don't forget Rock (he also has a Kain cosplay. I think Kim also has a Dong Hwan cosplay... but no Jae Hoon. Sadsad). Soiree has a Freeman cosplay.

Many of the Garou characters have made appearances outside of that game. B. Jenet, Tizoc and Gato all made it to regular KOF, Hotaru and Rock got into NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, Rock and B. Jenet got into MI (and various other characters made appearances as cosplays). Rock made it into CvS2.

Edit: Marco is, of course, in the background of the Kyokugen stage, too. (If you look really hard, you can also find Kasumi Todoh, but that is ENTIRELY irrelevant. I'm just a Todoh fan.)

they're both a-- yes thats true, but that still doesn't mean that one has an edge over the other, even if slightly... and those lists were on dustloop, but they all didn't come from just that site...

that tier statement in the 2nd to last paragraph is a given... jjba's tier listing changes drastically with one takes in consideration of the stands the characters have, but its not broken (except for petshop- that's been proven)... everyone is still beatable, even petshop (if u know ur character and what petshop can/can't do)... in tmnt:tf for the snes cyber shredder was top tier, it didn't make the game broken (he was beatable).

regardless of the tier(s), i still like the game, and i will continue to to battle with gato, marco, and might even pick up a few more chars...

on a sidenote, does anybody prefer this game over 3S???

is this game supposed to be contemporary with 3S, in so far as, why are we comparing them with each other? Just seems kinda random.

Ok, I honestly just didn't know if they were contemporaries or not.

    Oh, yeah, he did.
    One of the many clones.
MI2 had two Kyos, two Terrys, two Ryos, two Ralfs and arguably, two Kim's.

    Definitely.
3rd Strike is cool and all... but I dislike the parry system.
Now, 3rd Strike is HELLA unbalanced. Yun, Chun, Ken ONLY.

    You forgot about Urien.

3S is unbalanced character-wise, but strangely enough, I have seen low tier characters such as Necro and Remy crush in tournaments (Last year's Road 2 Japan event is one great example of that).

I'm just mad that the decent characters (Elena, Sean, Yang) got toned down so much that its almost pointless to use them outside of casuals. Elena can get stopped with one move from Necro, Sean barely has combos and his shoryuken now only does one hit, and Yang-- well... Ok he can still be used somewhat, but between him and his brother, most ppl will pick Yun for better combos and traps... Dudley is still decent enough for me to play, but I still miss his overhead move he had in 2I.

What's wrong with the parry system? Mark Of The Wolves has a similar engine in place. So what's the beef?

Cant you option select parry / block of crossups because parry is the opposite direction of block? Just defend doesnt have that issue.

/me is neither a 3s nor motw player

Frame advantage off a parry in 3S is way more than Garou. That's one key difference. I also think the window is larger for a parry than JD?
