Other than capoeira, i'd also like to see pentjak silat. Its awesome and incredibly efficient when trained correctly.

Heres a youtube of my friend. Hes been training it for a few years and though it looks like magic, I shit you not, its hardcore.

Shootfighting, Sambo, Savate. Triple SSS'es FTW!!!!

Bayman is that Dude when it comes to Sambo Nuff Said.Lets get a big man in VF with that style. Boxing can wait becaus Brad has it covered right now with the sliping. To add Boxing Brad would get the Vanessa treatment. They would remove the Slippin from him or heavily modify it.

Savate and TKD is already cover by Sarah(Just like Lucid Nightmare mention)CQC and Krav Maga, are not to different then Vale Tudo, IMO. But, wouldn't mind seeing it(Krav Maga)Something a little fast paced then a "Grappler" ShootFighting and Capoeira would be very nice.
EDIT-LA Akira pretty much nailed it.

funny stuff plague, lol.
how important is it to u guys that it be a 'real' fighting style? I mainly want my character to look cool while kicking @ss. Cause really, the moves arent technically sound anyway, or most arent. I think am2 will take the with a UFC inspired character, ur gues to prominent discipline is as good as mine, but something from the 'well-rounded-fighter-of-future' mold. Which is important in real life, cause this never happens; That forest grifith vs rampage fight was cheap as hell. All that build up and Rampages' cheesy ass 10-foot toss combos him out of the ring 21 seconds into the fight.

Pentjak/Pencak/whatever Silat or just Silat for short... I've been hoping for that one for years.

It's also another chance for a Dutch fighter to enter the ring as we have an inordinate amount of practicioners in the country due to our occupation of Indonesia (where the style comes from). But I guess we'll probably see a middle-aged stocky Asian guy using it. That'd be an original enough character design choice in its own right. A new (pre-grey) Lau Chan, about mid forties, you don't see many of them in fighting games.

Nah too late for all your martial arts. Two votes in this thread for Krav Maga Major. Sega is already workin' on the new character.

Question:

Is there a limit to the number of styles that can be added to virtua fighter without changing the fundamental gameplay or introducing duplication /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Whoa a Brazilian Martial Arts enthusiast! (I'm Brazilian, check <--)

Hmm my cousin practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but I don't know how it would play out in VF. It would be heavily emphasized on ground throws and take-downs. I'm thinking the play-style would be something similar to Goh actually.

EDIT: American Kenpo would be a nice substitute for TKD too!

That's kind-a-my-question. VF does not really have a ground
thing goin on. Sure there are some oves like GOH, a 1 or 2 for AOI, Wolf, but these are mostly one-way type moves. The character on the receiving end either TE or evades, there are really any ground counters. It seems like if that kind of play was added it would change the whole nature of the game. I'm not
saying that's a bad thing. It just thing that would be a new era
for VF.

It wouldn't be fun to have one BJJ character. As a practitioner of the art its just not feasible for it to appear in VF. It would change the game completely. BJJ is not what you see on UFC. There is such a small amount of stand up that takes place it would never fit within VF. Jacky for example, using JKD, would never know the escapes or have the ability to counter someone using BJJ once on the ground.

Like I said the idea is nice, but it would never work and thats why we have only seen small parts of the art show itself within other players. Aoi, Goh, Van, and even Akira, is as far as it will go.

Aka it would be as boring as watching Bjj itself. (to the common eye)

they way they could incorporate it could be like Vanessa's ground game, just with more options and throws from it.
I suppose you'd have to give everyone some sort of ground attack , throw game to balance it out, but yeah in a fighting game you couldn't put too much emphasis on that one style it just doesn't fit into the engine/reality.
