They need to put 50 Cent in this fucking game. Like a Negro Jacky (Blacky)

Yes I am serious.

I think Tai Chi Quan (Chuan) would fit well into the series. I absolutely love the style (would like to learn it one day), and the only character I've seen represent it is Leifang in DOA (my main in that game).

Yep, it would make a nice addition. It should be another old man, maybe even older than SHUN. Wouldn't want to see a Leifang knock off, but an old man doing tai chi chuan in VF would work.

Would it be long form or short for Tai Chi Chuan?

I'm not quite sure what the difference is- the kind Leifang uses, I guess (would that be short?).

@Venussail, Okay now., you're the one suggesting Tai chi quan
You gotta know that Tai chi has long forms and short forms right?
Various Tai Chi Chuan Forms (including long and short)

@Outfoxd

Yo, that's what I've been saying about UFC 2010 it has:

Greco Wrestling
Sambo
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Judo
Karate
Boxing
Kickboxing
Muay Thai
Wrestling

It complements Virtua Fighter perfectly [IMG] as a matter fact the next tournaments that I'm in charge of organizing will have
UFC 2010 and Virtua Fighter 5, I think the spectators will be
entertained, and the players from both games will probably respect each other.

Speaking about new fighting style for future Virtua Fighter. I think boxing is limited but Brad very much cover it. Tai Chi is very interesting because of the possibility as seen in Shenmue.
Capoeira should be included in Virtua Fighter franchise: The challenge for Sega is the stance due to constant movement from Caporista. There is a lot of evades and reversals.

BTW: long time no see.

Capoeira will be interesting. The challenge is to adapt the stance position because Caporista moves a lot.

Doesn't TWP teach Capo?

Would have some crazy hitboxes for sure.

Luya, I'm sure you mean well... But... the Tekken players that use Eddy and Christie have forever placed Capoeira in the button masher's Hall of Fame. I just can't think of any style that has been more abused and spammed to the detriment of the entire fighting game genre than Capoeira. It is absolutely the Hallmark of every player that
simply does not have a chance to win any other way other than to urgently, feverishly, randomly, mash the buttons that have been assigned to their favorite Capoeira fighter over and over again until their befuddled opponent's life bar has been brought to zero.

For the good of the order, for the good of the genre, I beseech you please withdraw your Capoeira suggestion for VF, take it and bury it in the sands of a thousand lost kingdoms, never to be seen or heard from again [IMG]

Capoeira will never be in virtua fighter, its more fit in tekken. because this kind of fighting style is not stable enough and its actually weak in true life. but still its a beautiful to look at.

It's not down to the martial art, it's down to the person who uses it.

Mostly true, but some fighting styles are simply not as useful in "real" (yes, i know we´re talking about a video game here...) fights as others. There are many variables affecting a fighters performance like strength, constitution, reflexes, amount of training, etc... and the tools he uses (his fighting style) simply is one of them.

This Bartitsu Article totally made my day - completely awesome. And the wikipedia article even links to a documentary trailer which has my favourite writer in it :)
But employing a walking stick in virtua fighter ... i don´t know but in Tekken, which is also focusing on hand to hand combat there is yoshimitsu... with his katana. Would depend on how it is implemented...

But a Gentleman Boxer... would be nice in Virtua Fighter.

A dirty Boxer (like Balrog) who headbutts, stomps on feet, uses corkscrew punches, thumping techniques, targets ears and throat...
and even BITES (!!!.. Mike Tyson ftw). I would main him just for the sake of it. *g*

other than that... Wing Chun but i have no idea how to implement it without making it too similar of other styles.

Krav Maga - well the "defend and immediately counterattack" principle already reminds me of reversal-heavy characters..

Coming from a Lei-Fei player...

Who cares what people think a character "is" (Lau/Pai/Akira/Goh/Jeffry/Wolf/Lion/Kage/Jacky "are" boring, does that opinion change or compel others to pick other characters?).

As long as a new character brings something new to the table, why not?
-----

Why are we talking about a "new character?"

Where was this supposed update?
