Yeah, I heard that the 'eye' is a visual link-up to that little robot thing that Otacon controls. I think it is for recon purposes, and it may have some tactical weapons system.....

I hope mgs4 will be more difficult, I mean gameplay must be more difficult not fights with bosses

Yeah I agree, it seems that the only difference in the difficulty settings is the 'action' level. The bosses become more difficult (though really, they just take longer to beat, as you simply have to be more careful in not taking a hit), and the enemies through the levels are able to do more damage as well. Apart from that, nothing really seems to change, the enemies are still as stupid, the route is always the same, the weapons are all still available and there are no changes to the overall difficulty of the stealth part.
I just hope that Kojima's whole 'There's nowhere to hide' theme doesn't make stealth a lesser part in the game, otherwise it will turn into just another shoot-em-up....

Another thing that may make the gameplay a little more interactive, is to give greater control to the player when using CQC. Instead of just pressing 'left+square', they should allow different moves and different outcomes from different options. If a guy is big, then you should have to go for the legs, and if not , he should be able to overpower you and fight back. Maybe.......

    Difficulty

I think that the higher difficulty levels should include even more boring and hackneyed story, thus making the game more difficult to complete due to the fact that the player falls asleep or trades the game in for the newest edition of Deer Hunter.

You find the storyline and cutscenes boring???

That's one of the best things about the series I think. The face that it's not all just mindless shooting nonsense, with irrelevent boss battles that mean nothing.
I think the story brings depth and longevity to the game, and is what seperates it from all the 'good' games, into a classification of it's own.

(Plus, you get to control the zoom on the camera!)

Yeah, I know. Lots of people love em. I am not a fan. No accounting for taste, as they say.

It's up to you what you like, I just think that people who don't like the story behind the action, are not true fans of the series, and are missing out on the phenomenon that is Hideo Kojima's work.

    Zuber-zize Yur Veener!

Indeed, I am not a true fan of the series. I have played a lot of the games, starting with the original on the NES long ago. That was a tough one to beat. MGS was ok. After I played MGS2, I said I'd never play another MG.

The series really annoys me, but not because it is so bad. Obviously there are many many worse titles out there, but MG could be something I would really like if the creators would only take the series in a different direction. Kind of like why I bitch about DOA...

I am a little surprised that MG and DOA have their supporters on this site actually, since VF represents the pinnacle of interactivity in gaming while MG and DOA, in different ways, have a lot more "push a button, sit back, watch shit happen" elements in them.

Then again, there are some jokers who post on VFDC only to talk about DOA. Maybe more people feel the way I do, but have more sense and just ignore topics about things that they don't care about. As for me, I can't resist the oportunity to diss that which I have deemed dissworthy.

Like I said, think what you like, you are entitled to. As for your description of the games, I can see what you mean. MGS isn't all that interactive, but then, I play the game mainly for the story, and would be quite happy to watch the game as though it was a film, the fact that you get to do stuff as well is just and added bonus.
Some people can't stand to watch cutscenes for more that 2 minutes, and hate games which have videos after each 'part'....

I kind of agree with you. I sometimes play a game mainly because of the story and because it is like a movie, but I also play a game because of its interactivity. In the end though it all comes down to personal prefference.

They are completely different games dissmaster.

I personally enjoy MGS because it's a cinematic experience, and it has a great, engaging story.

I enjoy VF because it's a deep game that requires a lot of skill.

I don't like DOA because it aspires to be like VF but fails in every way (every 3d fighter aspires to be like VF /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

    Very different.

    Re: Zuber-zize Yur Veener!

It depends on what you want out of a game. When I play a one player game, I expect to be interested and entertained on a number of levels, gameplay being just one of them. Take VF, as much as I love the game, I cannot honestly say that I could sit and play the game for as long as a game like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear, even the the game is more 'playable', it doesn't hold the same attention keeping qualities as a good one player game in regards to lengthly play. On the otherhand, VF is a game which, in a short burst period, can be more entertaining and exciting due to it's fast pace and complexity.

Then there are games which can offer it all, such as Kengo: Master of Bushido, or The Operative: No one Lives Forever...
