The night before I was at a bar celebrating a good friend's birthday. Random alternative rock songs are playing then out of nowhere a MJ song comes up.

We look at each other and say "Michael Jackson?" We drink our beer and pat our feet to the groove.

After the song was done some generic song comes only to be followed by another MJ song. We look at each other and go "MJ again?!" then we bob our heads and do a little dance.

First thing I see on TV the next day is that MJ had a cardiac arrest. This puts me in shock because of last night. Fifteen minutes later the news announced he was dead.

    Rest in peace Michael.

Very sad news. [IMG] A truly ground breaking artist of which we will never see the likes of again.

I'll never forget how cool it was to see the Beat It and Thriller videos when they premiered on MTV in 1983.

For real, it's hard for me to feel THAT bad when a child molester dies... Kids across the world from the US to Bahrain are that much safer.

Kill that noise. There was never any proof about that shit. so STFU. Your making it sound like he was John Wanye Gacey. People know what MJ endure through out he's life. He had alot of money, but never got a chance to fully enjoy something so simple as a childhood. Because of his simple nature and naive mentality of a child, he was clearly a easy target from some greedy parents out there. Thanks for derailing this thread asshole.

The only looking like a fool is you. You are basing your opinion on the media circus surrounding the allegations and not on facts. Michael made some bad decisions putting himself in a position to be accused.

You don't have to like people for whatever reason you may choose, but to label and accuse them and parade it as fact when it's not...What was even your purpose of posting that comment, when it's clearly biased opinion and not fact...

Sigh, i just wasted my time typing this to someone who may be an enemy of reason.

He touched so many people in many different ways... but none of it was sexual, I can see how that confuses people.

Michael Jackson's music is so good and has been such a big part of our youth and our lives that we want to block out the horrible.

I remember being 11 and trying to pick which track from Thriller would go #1 next.

I remember waking up at 6am on Saturday mornings to catch an episode of the Jackson 5 cartoon.

I remember moonwalking on a daily basis in the sixth grade.

To this day I will go into the dishroom for something during a busy shift and break out a few seconds of the zombie dance to get Lisa, our long time dishwasher, to shake her head and smile. Sometimes she joins in.

When I hear Quincy Jones explain that the instrumental at the beginning of Billy Jean is as long as it is because Michael felt it "makes me want to dance" I can't help but feel something.

But goddammit it's a complicated something. What did Michael have to endure as a young child forced to perform by his father for his struggling family? As surely as there were horrors later there were horrors for him then.

Why the escapism? Why the fascination with Peter Pan? The fascination with young boys? The grotesque self mutilation?

That innocence and beauty resided in Michael alongside the horrible and grotesque only proves the human condition.

Michael's condition was one of tragedy.

    And we love him.

Though I grew up listening to his music, I feel apathetic about his death when I read about it in the news. I am not much into his music as I used to listen him as a kid.[/size]

I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, celebrities arent the only people who can lie. That boy's parents had much more to win out of the incident.
