So Konju....

Tell us how your really feel about this game /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

So for comparison.... Tekken 5DR and Soul Calibur IV are like pace changers for me. When I want a break from VF and I don't want change game types I pickup Tekken 5DR or SCIV. Are you saying that this MK does not rise to the level of a Tekken or a SCIV /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I was thinking about giving it a try but after your evaluation, I don't think I'd play it, even if someone gives it to me for free.

Guess I'll have to wait on VF6 or that new MMA games that coming out in first quarter of 2009.

Whoaa

Whoa gernburgs flipped his lid, sorry man I wasn't attacking you. Just saying that I feel it's pretty safe to judge this one on the past games and how shitty it looks.

I will rent it or play it somehow but I know my opinion won't change.

You sure you not a developer for Midway?!

I heard Midway already fired almost everyone, and if they don't sell like 2 million copies of this P.O.S., the company is done.

While I feel bad for developers losing their jobs, I have to say good riddance, it's been like 15 years since Midway made a decent game.

Hey Gernbergs what is the movelist like for the standard attacks and such? I don't mean the f,f+x fireball or whatever, but the standard attacks: 1,2,3,4 etc... are they all different? Do they have different properties? What's the length of the total movelist (i.e. how many moves total)?

Finally, and in all seriousness, I know you like the game, but would you recommend it? (those being two completely different things)

Thanks

I have a friend that graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University who just recently got hired by Midway.

I don't know man. I know Mortal Kombat isn't some serious shit and all, but sometimes it's just fun to play a weak fighting game with silly gimmicks. I know Mortal Kombat has been sucking some serious balls for a while, but just the thought of pissing people off by picking captain marvel and having him yell "Shazam!!" every 5 minutes just cracks me up.

What Midway needs to do is come out with some current gen crazy digitized shit. Remember MK1? The characters looked REAL- they weren't the 3-D models we see now. It makes me wonder what they could do if the same approach was taken using current- gen hardware. (I.E. keep it 2D, but tried to take the "realism" factor to the next level)

Since its dealing with 3-D here i'll make a comparsion.

Look at how comfortable VF5 charactermove gracefully about and look at MK VS DC. Nuff said.

AS slick as joker is he fights with his hands up like a fucking clown whethers he sarcastic or not it looks stupid.

It's definitely a step int he right direction as far as gameplay flow goes, but like Konjou said, theres a lot of stuff that keeps it down like the controls, lack of any REAL fatalities and unbalanced animations(smooth in one animation, clunky and awkward in the next)I also don't really see it being too competitive due a lot of glitches, infinites, and weird stuff being discovered less than a week after it's release.

Unfortunately it's pretty much put it in the league of fighters that are fun if you don't take them seriously. . . . at all,and would probably last for a couple weeks at most.

Also with all the other upcoming fighters for the end of this year and throughout 2009,like SSF2:HDR,Tatsunoko vs Capcom,Street Fighter IV,BlazBlu,and a crapload of others,I would highly recommend saving your money and just give it a rent or wait for it to hit a bargain price, which doesn't take too long with Midway games nowadays.

Ok, every guy is a little different but there's some normal strings that do have directional inputs and some that don't. They did some things to make certain moves harder like tightening the timing. For example, Shang Tsung can still throw three fireballs but it's 246+Y then you have to rhythmically tap X, Y with certain timing to get the last two. It's not too, too hard but inserting it into a juggle is more difficult just because of that. A lot of characters do share moves or have moves with similar properties, but they all seem like basic things every character benefits from... In all honesty, for me, I do get pleasure out of being able to match all these fictitious characters up, they are all compelling in their own way.

Dude, I don't want to be held responsible if you buy the game and don't like it. I can't guarantee you will. I'm not overly discerning, I'll give any fighting game a shot. I used to love Sam Sho 2 but I can't stand the XBLA version of it at all. You never know what the game is going to be like for you until you try it. With all of the very mixed reviews on this site (and everywhere else) I have to say rent it first because it's obviously not a game for everyone...

Someone in this thread, I think KoD designated MK vs DC as
P.O.S... So is the verdict

a) P.O.S -- Pretty Original Stuff
b) P.O.S -- Possibly Onto Something
c) P.O.S -- Pretenders Only See it
d) P.O.S -- Play-it On Sunday
e) P.O.S -- Probably Over Soon
f) P.O.S -- Piece Of Shit

Maybe this one will be better /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Yes,masterpo, mortal kombat gets an "F", that's very astute.

Feck, I think NBA jam came out after smash tv, i'd say that was their last decent game.
