I've played it on and off since it came out and it's always busy on there, at least 2 of the servers are always full. Don't remember one day where it was dead.

I play at odd-ass hours of the morning. Kinda skews my perspective, I guess, but I've definitely noticed a greater abundance of people online. Exactly none of them are the many people I used to hunt with, so that kind of makes it feel dead, too.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has landed!

I don't have a Wii U yet (but I did get both versions) but I have to admit, I really like playing this game on the 3DS. But I need to get an XL Circle Pad Pro...

On top of that, you can pre-order a pretty sweet 2-piece shell for your 3DS XL (there's a 3DS normal version too), I'm planning to get one for my XL!

I still have the Mario Kart DS.

This looks similar to PSO, how is it different. I've googled it and have only come across fanboy wars when the two get mentioned....

I'm a huge monster hunter fan and played a tremendous amount Tri for the Wii. I remember getting Chief Flash addicted and we would do runs together. It was so awesome because afterwards we would sometimes talk on the phone about how intense the battles were. I really, really want to play ultimate for many reason, but sadly I am at the point in my life where I just don't feel there is any justifiable reason to buy a new game system. I own to many already and I feel if I buy a Wii-U ill be going the route I went with PS3. I bought it only for 1 game and when that game got upgraded and moved to a new platform my PS3 just sat there collecting dust. If it wasn't for the recent release of FS my PS3 would get no love other than the usual Blu-Ray movie from time to time. Plus I took a chance and purchased a Vita which I thought would rock, but that shit sits around my house like a paper weight. It's like ill bump into it randomly and ill be like "oh I forgot I bought this, because there is nothing good to play on it." So I just put it back down somewhere random again until the next time I come across it.

While I'm sure I am missing out on a great monster hunter experience I am going to have to pass on this one. Well unless someone wants to buy me a new or used Wii-U? :)

WHy not just get the 3DS version since you can still play online with people who got the Wii-U

What part didn't you understand about buying another system? ;) I don't own a 3DS so it would be the same thing... buying a system just to play one game. If I did that then I might as well buy a Wii-U and have the ULTIMATE experience.

    Yes... pun was intended! :p

The 3DS version doesn't have online... but you can play online on the 3DS if you also have a Wii U, by using the Wii U the same way PSP users can use PS3's Ad-Hoc Party app. Just like PS3 Ad Hoc Party, you need your Wii U to be connected online through an Ethernet cable via LAN Adapter to use this feature...

3DS version is still awesome, it's beautiful for a 3DS game (and the 3D is actually very well done), and you get the classic handheld experience with friends. That and now that the app is released, you can sync your 3DS and Wii U version saves. That said, I don't have a Wii U yet, but I bought both versions because Amazon had a sale for buying both and I definitely plan to get a Wii U (I would have had one, but I'm budgeting for Sega Cup lol).

Anyways, MH3U is awesome and it's worth getting on either or both systems!

To Rodney: Totally understand your position so not going to try to convince you otherwise... But regarding the Vita, Persona 4 Golden is awesome. And I'm pretty excited for Soul Sacrifice next month!

To Tricky: Monster Hunter is the biggest reason I got a 3DS during the past Holiday. The second biggest reason is the new Ace Attorney (and hope of Monster Hunter 4 coming to NA). The third reason is Fire Emblem Awakening.

That said, I otherwise play my Vita more than the 3DS but it does have a good library.

oh the trailer for the MH3U is misleading. It implies that you can play online with your DS without the system.

Yeah... the Wii U version plays online. The 3DS version only plays online when connected to a Wii U (that is using an Ethernet adapter)...

And the ability for 3DS to play online came later, it was app'd in...

    NO! :D

I play Pocket Legends now. LOL

Honestly I'd love to play UMH3, but I just don't have the time nor do I want to spend the money on a Wii-U. While Pocket Legends isn't as pretty it's definitely a lot of fun.
