You, and a lot of people on this forum are simply delusional. Here is the reality of the situation: VF in Japanese arcades does alright. Not as good as it used to - it's given up a lot of market share to Tekken and whatever Gundam game is newest on the streets - but enough to continue to create product for the scene. VF on consoles does horribly. Like, embarrassingly bad. Bad enough, I'm guessing, to make releasing ports of VF on the consoles a risky proposition most of the time. Yes, Sega knows that if it releases a console version of VF that you and the others like you on these boards will buy it. But guess what: that's not enough reason to release the game. Sega will not make enough money releasing games for you and the other couple hundred thousand (if that) people like you. With rare exception, VF has not proven to be a consistent enough seller on consoles to simply go all in. They're not shitting on you; they're trying to survive.

SF4 doesn't need me to argue for it, that's what you guys don't get. 10 years lapsed between 3S and SF4. The Street Fighter community brought that series back from the extinction through hard work and dedication, not whining and bitching. I only interject to try and give you guys some perspective.

A lot of people on this forum already know this but just like to remain hopeful.

lol....I wonder if this was Capcom x SEGA if folks would still be upset....the gameplay footage that was shown leaves alot unknown...geez the game probly wont be out until mid 2011 or so...shit its got time to develope..cmon...I guess everyone at COMICON, and who bought SF4, SSF4 and Tekken 6 must all be ediots or something right.....and everyone who owns VF5 are like all genius. Cmon yo VF5FS greatest fighting ever? probably...But I am a fan of games esp ..fighting games...and shit they only cost what 50 bucks...so y not....if ya dont like it...dont play it or buy it...thats all....shyyyyyt mayb with all the fighting games coming out SEGA can wake up....I support CAPCOM, NAMCO, that wild ass new Mortal Kombat and any other fighting game or company that plans on droping a fighting game.

You came over to a VF board to gauge the level of interest in a game that has nothing to do with VF; what a waste of your time.

And while I respect your advocacy, how many individuals does that 500+ page petition represent? I interpret the petition as evidence that there is a small group of people with a deep and committed interest in seeing VF come home. What I did not interpret the petition as was some sort of indication that a new home version of VF would be any more popular than the versions of VF5 already released.

it doesn't matter what Sega plans to do because they will do whatever they plan to do when they finally do it whether it happens to be 2011, 2012, or whenever they decide to do something. Our cries and demands don't affect them much anyone that plays this game for a long time would see this happening so don't worry about it now. Lets just go back to the topic at hand please, SF vs TK looks greats so far based on the initial showing it would be interesting to see how the other characters like King, Anna Williams, Bryan Fury etc are done. I just hope they don't get crazy with the excessive amounts of robots, animals, and so on and keep the game sensible. I might consider getting it whenever it comes out but I want to see more Tekken characters and their mechanics before I get too excited.

True but guess What? I've been suffering from abused wife syndrom for this long whats a few more months?

I mean Sega loves us but they just don't know how to show it... But they do love us so we will stay in this relationship.

BTW. Hardwork and Dedication? Puh-leeze. SF4 does nothing special just easier. I would prefer Darkstalkers in 3-D with over the top animations.

This and the "whole of VFDC is anger and bitter" post are making me lol.

Read back through the thread and Kokujin was the only guy to say anything negative. If not being interested in either SF or Tekken makes any one of us bitter then this be mad.

Also I don't see why you don't just admit that you got your knickers in a twist cause one guy said mean things about SF/Tekken, most of the posts in here are positive towards these SF x Tekken games.

Whether or not it's a good or bad game is not the point. It brought everyone together under one game. Remarkable feat if you ask me.

We'll agree to disagree regarding the tone of both this thread and the forums as a whole. I know some hate and hyperbole is normal, but it seems every time I jump into a thread here lately it's just full of vitriol. If you think VF is all warm feelings and positivity, well good for you.

And I've done nothing to deny why I posted in this thread. I like SF (which should be irrelevant, as what I was disputing was whether or not SF4 was of poor quality, which is a different issue than taste), don't care much for Tekken (despite it at times being one of my favorite series), and don't have very high hopes for these crossovers in terms of my personal interest. Oh yeah, and Virtua Fighter is my favorite fighting game series of all time. There.

Considering there aren't many people on these forums in the first place I can see how people can think that people here hate on a lot of games. You'll commonly get hate and praise in the same thread from the same people.

(Generally proportionate to how much they suck at the Non VF game at the time but I digress)

As far as this new vs series? I'm all for it. I just hope that one day I can have a hand in designing a fighter and the better they do the merrier.

Let me sum this thread for me and in turn cover a few topics.

    1. Its two titles, Capcom x Namco, using the SF4 engine and Namco x Capcom using the Tekken 6 engine or a modified ver. Thats $120 if you want to own both day one. Next, no details are really out there, tho its is 2 man tag. I'm geussing the release date is going to be late 2011- early 2012 at the earliest. Both titles won't release at the same time.

    2. MvC3 comes out Spring of 2011, The X games kinda overshadow it, but should keep interest up. $60

    3. Blaz Blue's title update is this Tues. For those who care. $40 (Might get since I passed on the 1st)

    4. Why are you guys mad at SEGA for not doing anything? If they are going to announce FS for console its going to be at TGS. $60 if ported

    5. KOF 13 where does it fit now? Its coming as well still. $60

    6. MK9 on its way as well. $60

    7. 3s' online in the pipeline. $15

In the in the end fighting games are back. Priceless.

honestly, I'd like to know of our "500 page petition" how many separate IP addresses were used? Myke?

90% of that seemed to be completely random new USER IDs with less than 3 posts, including their petition post, who have never turned up again. I'd be surprised if more than 250 different people generated ALL 500 PAGES.

edit: And i haven't played and don't intend on playing SF or Tekken, or SF vs Tekken or Tekken vs SF. But I applaud Namco and Tekken for doing exactly what we wish VF would do. Servicing its fans. I'd be more than happy if VF churned out new iterations and DLC to "bilk us out of our money." Even at the risk of Tekken and SF message boards declaring sega lazy and making fun of me for spending my discretionary income. Fuck, if they made a $60 DLC to get all the R customizations w/out any gameplay changes, i'd throw down. Even tho i'm more or less done with the game.

I stopped being mad at Sega a long time ago. I don't know about the rest of you though at this point it is pointless to even worry about it now.

It's a great thing these Cross games. They are bringing notoriety to the fighting game genre which is good. This a great opportunity for all fighting devs to catch some limelight Sega included. Maybe something good will come out of all.

But to be fair we also have to keep in mind that there are many many fighting game/VF fans that don't use VFDC. Just like there may be thousands of Street Fighter fans that don't use SRK and such.

As for this game, I'm excited to see how many times Capcom can recycle it's SF4 & TvC engine.

^ Keep in mind how many sites/forums posted about the petition too, I seen a fair few posters familiar from other forums that signed up to help.
