I've tested with 3 people so far. Sudden Death, Iron palm and Ayu Fanboy.

When I played with Sal and Iron Palm the game would go out of sync. I then tried with Ayu Fanboy and it was pretty much good as you're going to get with online play. The funniest thing is that he is the furthest away from me. The only thing that was stopping it from being better is that the Naomi 2 emulation isn't perfect.

You can also tell the emulator to record your input and playback [IMG]

I will test VF3 TB next.

wait. what did I miss that VF3 TB is available to test?

Is this a stand alone emu or the DC emulator?

Is there a difference apart from GFX wise between the two versions?

off the top of my head, one of the few diff was the resolution, DC runs at 60fps while arcade at 58 or something close to that, also some gameplay fuckups like wolf being able to pick up after GS. im sure im missing more...

Here are a few videos being played back - the framerate when actually playing is not as consistent because of our distance.

    <object width="560" height="340"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kJaI98O_4TE"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kJaI98O_4TE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="560" height="340"> </embed></object>

It works surprisingly well considering how the emulator itself is not all that mature. The online works rather stable considering I live in Canada and Jide is in the UK. Our ping is likely the equivalent to 0 or 1 bars if you compared it to VF5 Online.

I'm wanting to test with someone more local, so hopefully I can see if it scales better. If you try setting the delay to too low of a number, the framerate tanks because it just can't do it from Canada to UK.

If Demul ends up fixing it's biggest issues (transparency for walls, 20fps levels) then I think this could become near perfect in terms of online.

damn I need to get a better computer. If this get's perfected and we can round up a decent amount of players then I'd bail on VF5 online in a heart beat. It would be nice if they could add a chat room type feature like GGPO / Kalliera where you could see who is online and around to play.

What I wouldn't give for this to be released on XBL arcade with online support. Akira SDE stomach crumple and should float on hit FTW!!!!!

Oh and Sal check the first vid towards the end of round 3..... hahahahaha no one ever tech rolls Akira's [4][6][P]+[K]+[G] in VF4:EVO / VF4:FT . It's tech-able, but for some reason people hardly tech it. I think because it's just one of those random moves that's only get thrown out there like 1 in 1000, so your brain kind of does the Scooby Doo "huh?" before you realize what you got hit by.

It's using Kalliera. There is a lobby and you chat etc...
Or you can just use voice chat programs. Not sure you can have more than two people in a lobby though.
The nice thing is you can join a server or you can just do direct p2p play.

p2p was better speed wise but I think host definitely gets a input advantage. Ayu did DE MC dbl plm!! LOL

Whereas with joining a server both players may end up with input lag but it's fair. FPS dips though..

Excuse me while I program SPOD as one button!

If this emulator works pretty well online. I wouldn't mind playing against more people in different version of Virtua Fighter's. Also, it would be cool if someone would make a easy link with the Emulator and the Virtua Fighter rom in it.

Posting things like that is against the rules here on VFDC. It's probably best to make a request for something like that via PM or personal email.

Besides I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to find through a simple Google search.

    you'll need:
    Demul 5.5
    Naomi2.zip <-containing the naomi2 bios(s)
VF4tuned.zip (containing the VF4 Tuned version B image
    gds-0036f.chd <- GDROM compressed HD

once you know the component names google makes everything easy to find.

unzip everything where you want it, then run Demul. configure GD-Rom to point to gds-0036f.chd; configure NAOMI BIOS to point to the bios you want (I'm using EPR-23605 (Japan)); configure GAMEPAD however you want it (select JAMMA Joy 1 or 2).

Then FILE>RUN NAOMI and Select VF4 Tuned Version B. play.

There are other things to consider for optimal performance but the above is what you need to run the damn thing and I really never found documentation stating that so this may be helpful for people.

Thanks to Jide for pointing out the file names needed.

Things runs pretty sweetly (although at half speed)on my crappy work laptop. on proper PC it would run like butter.

Harbour, Cave and Aquarium run slow no matter which VF you play. So avoid those. You want to setup the p2 side so you can test the speed. If you get 60fps on a stage like garden or temple. You're good to go!

Has anyone tested Virtua Fighter 3 with it? Are there any major game-breaking glitches? How well does online play fare here? And can you play the real arcade version (in contrast to the Dreamcast ROM) as well?

If you're grabbing demul for the first time. Make sure you use the Dxv3 Gpu plugin.
Update to the latest directx runtimes.
Can you guys post your specs if you do try it.
Trying the find the absolute minimum you need to run Naomi 2.
