I agree; I would like to see a traditional karate style like shorin-ryu, etc, in VF. This has been argued before though, since some think that Akira is already similar to traditional karate, so I'm not saying any more... /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

 

I don't think similarity or so on, now that I've thought about it, is of importance. Character design and so on is though. You can modify a character always so he doesn't remind of others in ways like he gives alot of struggle situation / uses alot of sabakis / has fast hit recovery and alot more. It's not as if Virtua Fighter characters are hella true to their orgin anyways.
So fuck it... put in a Taekwondo (doesn't need to use flamingo stance like hworang / sarah) and a real Karate practioner (alot of gyakuzuki's /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) as eachothers opposites, make them hella cool like Goh and make them hate eachoter / slap some corny story on them. It would probably attract new gamers to the series aswell and / or broden it's appeal.

P.S Afroconnection, I'm not gonna go into an off topic (and silly argument) but please don't tell me what I think. Brad / Akira are my main characters with thousands of games so don't talk about how it's gonna "go away" the more I play him, I can play a character and like him and still feel his rushed. Not every thing is explained with "you don't know him well enough" but alot of tedious arguments start that way. Peace out.

 

Goodness /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. I wasn't telling you what you think, I was telling you my experience. If he still feels rushed to you, then that's you. I should have rephrased this in my post, but I'll say it here. He doesn't feel rushed TO ME after playing him for awhile..

I too think this topic is silly, and it happens too often here; a bunch of people arguing over something that is opinion based. I never meant to start any arguments, nor do I intend to participate in one.

Trust me, Akira is more than karate enough that we don't need a karate style in the VF mix. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

 

Mate, Akira's everything but a karate kid...In karate you dont do NOTHING compared to that. TRUST ME. I hate karate because I practised it and I know it well enough. It's a good martial art..IN JAPAN. In the rest of the world it's just too commercial.
Well, IMO, every martial art teached throughout the world is commercial except in china and japan. Pretty sad..
I practise Jeet Kune Do, which means I'm making my own martial art. Trust me, it's useful..I never "fight".
Last time a guy wanted to fight me, I slapped his face (reaching the ear) so hard he felt to the floor and stopped hearing from the right ear for 10 minutes. He then walked away and never talked to me again. I usually only fight with my students. A girl and a boy, friends of mine, which I teach. We just spar a little.

I'm going off topic LOL. Don't put a Karate guy. Put Capoeira and Sumo. ASASHORYU POWA!!

Id be intertested to know how effective you think Brad is against opponents who know him well since he seems to be a bit predicatable and limited. What he does have is amazing movements when you buffer combine sways, CD's and PK G.

 

hmmm, my personal fantasy of all time:
a half naked dude with a wicked-looking snake tattoed on his back (sort of like Vega from SF) who fights with surgical strikes to his opponent's acupoints. His initial damage would be low but each vital strike would deal damage to his opponents overtime. Myahaha!! maybe he can even disable the hands/legs for a short while. /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

A Snake Kung-Fu Practicioner with a Snake tatooed (honestly, It would be cool to have him without the snake, and earn it as an item hehe).
For 1P he would wear a Yakuza Business Suit (Roflol), and for 2P the usual Pants only-Half body showing his proeminent muscles and nerves. He would also have a skinny face and that rather long white hair. It would also be cool if he was really old, as Shun doesn't make up for it =(

Hmm, btw, now that I'm having such a nice imagination (lol) there should be a little girl (15 years old) from Brasil, and Capoeira Practicioner. AHhhh!! PERFECT!
Her 1P suit would be a japanese school dress (because she was living in japan after their parents died there, so she was an orfan. I'm such a good story-teller, LOL). Her 2P suit would be a...hmm....Capoeira suit (DOH!)..

Again, I show my great ideas lol.

 

I would luv to see and old woman using the "grand ultimate fist" otherwise known as tai chi. She would also use dim mak like pressure points that would hurt her opponents over the course of the round (their health would slowly drain)
And virtua fighter is due to have a black character, someone doing capoeira or egyptian khemetics.
A real preying mantis fighter would be nice too because i train in preying mantis myself and Lion is not really showing the system (and he's a battybwoy)

 

There's South Preying Manthis style, and Northern Preying Manthis style. Lion's in one of them, and you should practise the opposite. BTW, draining techniques: argh.. Pressure Points: It wouldn't be a bad idea, but as you know, this is VF, every high punch you land on jacky (for example..) will make him do the exact same animation, which means: it's always "the face" being hit. Sega's not going to make animations for every Command the granny would have..

Akira's style is not a representation of Karate. It's a chinese style called Bajiquan. Hakkyoku-ken is the Japanese translation.

 

Sarah should be given the boot from VF5 cause she stinks and jacky cause he looks like a gay. Ugly bastereds goh and brad should be removed while vanessas gas mask shoul be made permanant. That should make space for some new styles and better looking fighters.

By the way, does anyone know when VF5s coming out?

I have more than enough feedback for that one....but those statements speak for themselves.

 

Removing both Bryants would be probably too much, but I wouldn't really mind if Sarah had a little accident, let's say something with her brother's car that would require longer time to recover... or she might forget her flamingo or something /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

ehem, i'm neither of those and i dont use either of the bryants! in fact i hate both of them. but that doesn't mean they should be removed from the game! I just figured that since so many people like them/play with them that they would just down your throat a bit.

 

I think it would be a good idea to add in a female Wushu practicioner. Another female so we have better scenery and Wushu because it's a very flambouyant art which could maybe draw more people to noticing VF. It's a beauty to behold and could create a very interesting fighter. I would make her an expert player character so we have less of an "Eddy Gordo" factor to deal with.

I also like the idea of "Akina" the younger female student of Akira. She could rely more on speed to make up for her lack in strength compared to Akira.

 

Why dont am2 just do what i want and bring back taka, just make him the same weight as jeffery and wolf.

 

Sumo rocks. But trust me..There's not much to do with a sumo wrestler besides slapping the fat and grabbing their pants =P I think a "down attack" from Taka should take out 90% of the opponent's life to compensate the lack of movements LOL.
