A nice trick by Jackey in that Kage vs. Jackey match. Jackey auto-parries and punches Kage's punch, then catches Kage with the stomach hit-throw when Kage was trying to throw escape the usual throw attempt. Nice. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

i guess it also depends on the character's high punch too. for instance, using b+p ~ p with wolf makes any move afterward impossible to connect, even reverse hammer (well, it didn't work for me) it seemed like it pushed the opponent away abit

landing b+P -> P -> xxx is hard with wolf in C, the only combo I could ever get that was worth anything was b+P -> P -> f+P,P vs aoi, in open stance. The last hit is very unreliable as well. But there are a half dozen useful combos after b+P,d+P.

About jacky's b+K+G, P, bf+KG ... It probably is possible, but a better combo ender in general is f+P+K, ground kick. ... good for 80 points for midweights, needs open stance vs some.

VFzone has put up part 2 of the gamewave DVD featuring Joe and 2 beginner players. There's very little gameplay footage in this clip since it's mostly an interview, but it features that 7 year old kid kicking some arse with Kage. Here it is:

i tried b+k+g ~ p ~ b,f+k+g closed stance and it definatley works vs lightweights so nah, it dont seem like jacky's standing punch after b+k+g reacts much different to his low punch after all... oh well.

I have just gotten the Green Book, and I have encoded the DVD into Divx. Each 20+ minute clip (about 8) is around 350MB. Does anybody have the space to host this? Does anybody want to? I have deliberately left them as high res as I see fit.

BTW, if you haven't seen the Green Book DVD, the matches are awesome. Chibita loses a number of times, Napoleon Jacky and Segaru face off again... revenge match... etc. Some of the best action I have seen yet.

As soon as the uploads happen I will re-encode with modem users in mind, but the quality is gonna take a noticeable hit.

I can't beleive that some of us are still on 56k. j/k. Really though, when I go home to Hawaii for vacation, 56k is all we got, and I'm dying on it.

So where's the ftp site, or other upload site. Guys, you gotta see the matches.

Yeah, encoding the sh__ is tons o work.... riiiight.

One more thing, there's over 5 hours of footage on the DVD. 7 GIGs worth of uncompressed action. Get the Green book guys.

I forgot to mention that TBzone has downloadable wallpaper of all the VF4 stages at 1024 resolution. There's been smallish 300 pictures, and four or five 2000 resolution stages that I found, but this is the first time we can see stages like jacky's city and akira's dojo at 1024x768. It's pretty nice.

New EVO movie clips?! Where??!

Amusement Club Goalla has updated with a lot of new clips, which feature matches from a tournament. It looks like it was a small tourney, and as a result there's not a lot of character variety (only Akira, Kage, Lau, Shun, Wolf, and Jacky). Anyway the clips show some really nice action and interesting items. Among the highlights:

-Akira does + (MC)-> -> ++-> ++ for close to 100pts damage

-Another machi Kage (well, sort of machi)

-Wolf's mohawk

-A Lau playing really good defense with lots of throw escapes

There are about 10 new clips, all at about 6 MB and smaller /versus/images/icons/smile.gif . Enjoy.

 

Great clips! I'm starting to realize why Pai is considered top tier (or pretty close to it) now. I finally got a chance to use Goh this weekend while visiting the Orlando crew....It was very intoxicating. /versus/images/icons/smirk.gif I'm definitely making him my #2 character as soon as my arcade gets Evo.
