Hey. I'd been playing since VF1/2/And fighters megamix back in highschool, Jumped back in with VF4 & Evo. Played a really mean Pai and Aoi with the people i played with on a semi-random basis. I got a 360 for VF5 and Fallout 3. I'm getting handed so badly by mashers it's like i've never played the game, before. The controls aren't the greatest on the 360 either. But i'll take it over and over and over again, until i need a break that is. Seems some stuff has changed speeds as far as moves go. But anyway, look forward to playing who ever when i can. I don't really care if my win/lose ratio floats around 22% right now, i'll get the hang of it again. Great site btw.

I guess this is my obligatory introduction for any interested? (Yeah right.) Well, hello to anyone reading this, I'm Airaku! ^_^

I grew up, admittedly, playing the survival horror genre of video games more than anything else... but of the fighting titles I would occasionally rent during my high school years, none held greater intrigue for me than the breadth and realism of the Virtua Fighter series, which - for all my enthusiasm - I achieved... only a mild level of hit-or-miss competence in. LOL. I was crushed, but vowed to one day improve. xD

Recently I found renewed interest in playing Virtua Fighter with the hope to engage myself in the series more thoroughly than I ever had before. I am currently debating whether or not to purchase VF4:Evolution for my PS2 or make the jump to buy a PS3 and VF5, though I am sorely tempted toward the latter. This is an issue I may like to bring up in a separate post when I get the chance. Thus I welcome any advice as to where to begin about my dilemma, as well as any other general conversation too, VF-related or not!

Thanks for allowing even a VF n00b like me the opportunity to be here. This site looks to be a promising resource and I wish its community the best! Awesome job, guys! ^_^

    Hello Talos and Airaku!

Airaku, the answer is neither. If you've got money, and a fairly fast landline (if you want online), get an Xbox 360, VF5 and a XBL Gold account. PS3 has Ver. B, while 360 has Ver. C. 360 controller's D-pad are not good with fighters in general, so get an arcade stick, or even a third party controller.

    Hi CobiyukiOS,

Thanks so much for the prompt reply! =) I really appreciate it! I've taken your suggestion into account; I would, however, also like to ask around on the "New Starter" forum to better explain my situation if that were possible. For the moment I can certainly see and appreciate the benefits of going the 360 route. Again, thank you for the response! See you around sometime! ^_^

Hello all, I decided to finally get VF5 Online 3 weeks ago, after moving another state. right now I'm in Georgia; Albany GA to be exact. I was too sure if I was going to buy it for the 360, since everyone in the small city I live play Tekken 5 DR. I figured if its some people still around that plays online or anywhere close to me that on these forums, I figure it's worth the shot. Right now, as far as going from VF4 Evo to VF5 Online, I mostly play with Wolf, Vanessa, Jacky, Kage and Sarah. But I still trying to learn Lau Chan and Eilen. I'm a nit rusty, but if you ever need some one to play, I'm always up for a match.

If you want you can add me on XBL. I also play on arcade sticks.

Hello all. I just picked up VF5 from a local Meijer for $12 and it was easily the best $12 I've ever spent in my video gaming career. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I'm new to the series so I'm just trying to get a decent foundation while having some fun. Right now I'm using Pai and playing through Quest Mode...hopefully I'll get to the point where I can compete online without getting completely massacred or falling back on button mashing. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I eagerly anticipate spending many days at work reading through these forums. Jam packed with great information!!!

    Hello, all.

I am a relative newbie to Virtua Fighter. I haven't played since the old days of the original VF4. Back then, no one played VF, so it was just me and the CPU, so I thought I was good. But, apparently, I have a lot to learn about VF after starting 5.

I am a Pai player, though I dabbed a little in playing Aoi, and Lau.

I am not that good at thinking up combos, and just as bad as pulling them off once I figure them out, so I guess if I could get some help with that, that would be awesome.

Haha, thanks. When I was told to be original in making my tag, I decided to go for something amazingly ridiculous.

How many times have I re-posted here over the years? Lol. Well i'm back.

Fact remains is that I play Tekken and SF competitively and would do so for VF, if it had a scene here. Starting up one is NO LUCK, especially since we travel to play T6BR hotness and conveniently have meh SFIV right here. New games forthcoming, all that jazz. I really love the series and always have, even though I never got a great deal in depth with it like other games. I still "dabble" in VF5 Ver.B from time to time(more lately though) and I'm pissed PS3 has no online. I dont usually play online at all but for VF I'd make the exception. How else would you get matches lol?

Anyway, I'm in the process of finding bits of time to re-learn the game in anticipation of a console R, which may or may not come. Want to badly rape with Taka and continue my sumo conquest which includes Honda(SF) and Ganryu(Tek). It's purely coincidental haha. But for now I'm messing with Jeff, Lei, and Pai. Eventually will narrow down to 1.

But that's it for my pointless re-introduction. Can't see you guys online obviously(Ver.B/PS3) so maybe at one of the 0.00001 tourneys that have VF in it's actual line-up? Hopefully I can find 2 people who will get casuals going.

    Laterz

If there's anything you guys need to know or you just fancy a read to see what VF is about then check the system pages and other stuff at the top left hand side of the forums.

Lots of helpful stuff in there.

I've got to say this is one of the better communities around. I learned of it from ManjimaruFIN on the xbox.com forums and have already picked up quite a bit.

If only I could login from my work location (firefox under linux) I'd be able to take part more. However, once I enter my login credentials I am simply returned to the main forum listing with the same Login link in the top right. I've tried clearing cookies, cache, authorization info, etc. to no avail. I've been on internet forums since, well, forever...and this is the first time I've ever seen this behavior.
