You've never heard of DoDonPachi? Oh yeah, I forgot shmups barely exist on PS3 :(

Not sure what your point is with Once Upun a monster etc, regardless of your opinion of them that game and others like the Dance Central series are quite big sellers and looking at the PS3 list it has more than it's fair share of garbage, Afrika, Wangan Midnight (da fuck), Derby Time Online ...even funnier is the fact that there's more 3rd party titles on the 360 list lo'

Guess you never heard of Dead or Alive 4, no?

Anyway, it's beside the point you stated that 360 has 3 - 5 genuine exclusives whilst Sony has been pumping them out consistently for years. Regardless of the quality of the game it's not true at all.

There's that handy column that tells you if the game is indeed exclusive to that one platform or if it's just an exclusive on consoles :/

The list also misses out on XBLA and PSN games from the looks of it, quite a few ports of older games are still only on XBL. Games like Radiant Silvergun, Soul Calibur 1, Guardian Heroes, Rez HD, Ikaruga ...Not like it matters, I guess IvorB has never heard of them.

Shmups barely exist on PS3 because Sony stil hates 2D and PS4 won't have Killer Instinct(VF will be mult-platform). it's like a sick joke that MS already has the better exclusives but with stupid ass policies.

I'm actually picking up a WiiU this September(which is something else I never thought I'd do) and waiting for price drop along, with redesign in looks and DRM policies from the Xbone/PS4.

Bangai-O HD: MIssile Fury is hands down my favorite game alongside Final Showdown this gen. MS really killed it with exclusives this gen, especially getting buffed remakes with extra features like Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun and Gunstar Hereos. RS is big because the only way to properly play that game now, is to drop $500. Not to mention the region-free Cave games.

It'd be nice to see Sony buck up and get these kind of titles to the system.

They didn't pump out VF5 online though did they? I really don't like to use somebody's join date to make points in discussions like this, but sometimes it feels some of the newer accounts don't realise 360 was the only way to play VF online, going back a number of years now. XBL still arguably provides the smoother experience for a multitude of fighting games.
Even with PSN now going behind a paywall, they're still not talking about improving latency.

You'll find plenty of Japanese arcade gaming fans do enjoy the scrolling shooter (STG) genre as well as versus fighting, and for some reason, 360 became an exclusive haven for them, as pointed out above. Apart from a handful of turn-based J-RPGS, it's pretty hard to think of anything actually worth buying a PS3 for, even now. Gran Turismo? ...Killzone? *grimaces*

So it's not really that clear-cut, even though admittedly, Microsoft have looked appalling recently, with both the Kinect DRM monitoring and the PRISM project compliance (highly Orwellian). It is ultimately all about the killer-app that often forces a console purchase, and for many here that remains Virtua Fighter. That super big hitter aside though, personally, I'm leaning towards offline Nintendo for the next few years. Pretty much how I began gaming 20 odd years ago coming full circle I guess ;)

That had nothing to do with SONY, but with SEGA.

But it was only on Xbox. Also, SONY stopped SEGA home hardware, and some of us AM2, Hitmaker, Sonic Team, Rosso, Smilebit fans etc., have long memories. Wait and see what happens. The mainstream market is much easier to predict right now, but as we've seen in the last 13 years at least, cool Japanese titles aren't just automatically locked or ported onto PlayStation.

I will miss my Forza (eagerly awaited Forza 1 on original xbox, got it as soon as it was released, same with Forza 2, 3 and 4 (all of which I got limited editions of) and in regards to Halo series, I stopped following Halo after Halo: Reach since it was the last Halo game to come from Bungie, the true developers of Halo. Destiny (also made by Bungie) looks awesome on PS4 so if I want to get a shooter, I'll most probably get that, that being said, if they release a PC version, I will get it on PC because I simply prefer mouse+keyboard for FPS games, never really got round to controller-FPS stuff. There are rumours of a PC version but I'll just hang back a little and see what becomes of it.

Referring to PS4/XbOne for VF6, I honestly think it makes NO DIFFERENCE. VF6 will be released on both consoles. Sega never made any exclusives for either platform (reference to X360/PS3 though there were console-exclusives on Wii like Sonic Rings) in past gen so don't see why they'd start doing that unless they like the XbOne used-game policy thing and think to themselves, f PS4 and Sony, we only sell on XbOne. Even if they did that, the majority of gamers will be on PS4 next gen, pretty sure about that one, so they'd be losing out on a HUGE market if they didn't develop for PS4.

Guys, sorry to say this, but don't put too much hope on PC ports of VF6 IMO. While they have similar architecture, business plans for game developers generally don't tailor for PC games, simply because it costs them money to produce for another platform, as well as, piracy is totally haywire on PC so they'd lose money on PC releases. If you want a true FG console, has to be PS4 or XbOne really.

SEGA's dumb decisions has nothing to do with SONY playing their cards right. Just like MS during the 360 era. They did everything right, while SONY was playing major catch-up. Anyway, the military is not to fond of the X1. http://gamasutra.com/blogs/JayJohns...s_Ive_had_and_heard_on_my_last_deployment.php

Halo LAN parties on US naval frigates is pretty much a drop in the ocean for their projected sales for this device. If you like Japanese made games, who cares about the CoD/NFL demographic anyway? You want those 'bros' lagging up PSN even more, you're welcome to them.

The elephant in the room of course being that, outside of Japan, they never did catch up, even with the catastrophic first few years for 360. Microsoft have the cash mountain to rectify errors that would finish poorer companies, plus buy out whole SoftCos if needed. Sony simply don't sit on that type of capital, or see that type of revenue overall. Much of it's home country is moving to handheld anyway, and many of the nice looking titles on Vita will probably never be localised. The extras you got on PS+ were merely softening you up for what comes next: the subs they desperately need to stay alive in the big boys game of console Pac-man.

Sony already said they are supporting used games and they have an option were publishers can decide if their games are blocked or not and sony is not blocking any of its games that are published by sony like exclusives. So chill peeps and eat a banana.

Well that's not my point actually and I never even said that. My point was: almost all those games at E3 for Xbone will come out for PS4 as well.

Okay it was a general statement about MS exclusives which may not be true looking at the list so I qualified it to say that, recently, exclusives for Xbox 360 are pretty hard to come by. And many of their big third-party exclusives went multiplatform eventually. In the past few years they haven't put out much. This contrasts to PlayStation which has had loads of, and continues to have, exclusive content recently. So I think taking MS recent performance over the past few years to judge future performance is more accurate than looking at the beginning of the current gen.

Anyway I wouldn't get too hyped for those games at E3 since they were running on PCs with way more powerful hardware than the Xbone.

Well the less said about Nintendo the better I think. :p

Virtua Fighter 5 release was a lifetime ago. I've already agreed that MS were doing very well with exclusives at the beginning of the gen but what about recently?

I don't think you are being genuine about wondering what games there are on the PS3 but in case you are how about The Last of US which came out yesterday? There was a new God of War earlier in the year. Beyond: Two Souls is due later this year as well. That's just exclusive titles recently. I'm sure you don't need me to bring you up to speed on all the stuff that's come out for PS3 in the past few years.

One first off , there are no Xbox One exclusives. The only Xbox One exclusive Microsoft can guarantee is Windows. 8 . For the 12 years they have been in this industry , they have no internal development team. You think Respawn left one tyrant Activision to work for Tyrants like MS? Titanfall was clearly their best game at the show, and once Xbox One tanks worse than the 32x , it is going to jump ship to PS4 . Microsoft really shot themselves in the foot this time around. When this whole used game debacle blows up in their face, more and more companies are going to jump ship to PS4.

This could all be reversed if Microsoft would just make. A public Mea culpa, stop being stubborn and reverse their online and used games policy. It would be a waste to see Xbox One fail merely because of bad management and public relations. I originally planned on getting both systems, but now I am sticking to PS4 unless Microsoft reverses things. I'm afraid of getting stuck with another N64. I was an early adopter, and it was a huge disappointment.

Gears of war? Haha I dunno, just thought I'd laugh because it doesn't really matter. Just enjoy the system you favour.
