Next Gen consoles. What console looks promising?

No need to go over the top... I was reading stuff on Titanfall then saw a link to that article and thought it was interesting.

I wanted to share the article with people so that maybe some people could have an intelligent discussion on it. Then I would hopefully learn more from said discussions? If I read an article and then never bother engaging in the topic - on a forum/talking to people, then I'd be so convinced I knew everything I wouldn't know about the other side of the story.

I didn't know that a lag switches did that was so thank you for the information. I was assuming that everyone connecting to the one device would have a disctinct disadvantage to the local host. So if the "local host" was a server instead of a console, then that would've eliminated that scenario.

But then isn't the opposite also true? They can't shoot you because of the ambiguity of their current location/status? Since they'll be out of sync with the server, you could've moved from said location and they'd be shooting nothing but a ghost too?

In their article, it says this will stop some cheating. So I assumed lag switches were included. It's also not a competition to who understands what more...

Not really, I took information from the developers blog and interpreted it differently to you. There's really no need to be so aggressive. Asking questions or starting a discussion is a good way to learn so I don't think you should be shooting people down just for that.

His enthusiasm has got me excited! But I've never played KI before so don't know what linkers are etc... He does make it sound like a really fun game to play though... I think I'm going to get an Xbox One now... even though I said I wouldn't before...

KI was one of the greatest fighting games back in the mid 90s. When arcades were a big thing you could usually find 3 games with really long lines: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct.

"C-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-combo Breakers!!!!!" became a well known phrase in American culture because of this game. Hopefully this one will be just as awesome...

 

Dreamcast 2? If Sega put all their Titles on one console. I might get this instead. Capcom always been good to the Sega Consoles. I remember all of the fighting games that came out on regular Dreamcast.

It has been known for a while that you can play offline with any game for as long as you want. The Kinect news was new since yesterday, which is also good news for XBO and offline tournaments

Probably true, but that's been working extremely well so far. Why fix what ain't broke?

 

I don't think it's true at all. They announced first so how can that be reacting to MS? They had noDRM and offline first, then MS did the 180 and followed. They had a policy of self-publishing for indie devs and an indie focus when MS was doing the opposite. Then MS did the 180 and started following. They came with a strong gamer focus from the get-go when MS was all about TV but now MS has done the 180 and is all about the games. They've announced the release date first so soon we will see MS also announce.

It's quite the opposite actually. You would have to be pretty skewed to see it as the other way around I think...

 

Errr they announced it after MS announced their plans? That's reacting... They announce no DRM until a lot of people complained about it. But I see why you misunderstood.

I didn't really think about it until recently because MS just announced that if you buy "x,y or z" games on the Xbox 360, you can essentially swap them for the Xbox One version. Now Sony is offering the same but only through their own digital store which suggests this didn't occur to them and thought "oh that's a good idea, lets copy it".

Just watched another Titanfall ganeplay trailer and the freedom of jumping around using a jetpack looks so good! I think this is why it interests me whereas other fps doesn't. Also I read that all European orders of Xbox One gets Fifa 14 free!

The impression Xbox One has given me is that they're more proud of their product and have been showing off a lot of its features. Whereas PS4 isn't doing anything, which suggests there isn't anything worth showing? Plus I actually think Xbox One is focusing more on games than PS4. At least that's what I think from reading their blogs.

 

To say that PS4 isn't focusing on games is to say that you haven't been paying attention...

I'm not going to start a console flame war or anything...but, seriously...come on...

Just because Sony might not be putting out games that you personally care about, don't misunderstand that as Sony being lazy/uncaring/no games...

If X > Y, Y is not necessarily 0. I just think features MS thought of demonstrate they've thought about the player more. Like being able to do something else whilst waiting for a match. A lot of fighting games have implemented this by letting people play another mode whilst waiting for a player to join their lobby for example.

 

Hmmm... I'm not sure what you are saying. They are both reacting to each other but Sony definitely has a plan. Microsoft had a plan too but they abandoned it due to outcry so now they are just winging it.

With regards to the last part of your comment, I think you are just seeing what you want to see to be honest.

 

Ok, it was just me then...

 

This is going to be a tough competition this year. Which ever Virtua Fighter 6 runs the best on, and has a larger community. That would be the console I would get.
