They were both awesome games..you actually had to sit down and think about what you were doing with the character.

So you are telling me you figured out how to make a character? Either you are a genius or I am retarded. Besides even if I took the time to figure it out the graphics sucked, there were no voices to choose and out fits for the characters were horrible and very limited.

a lot of the voices in vf suck and if you took away the items would vf then suck? No. the idea is to make a great character, not play dress up.

    What's this shit all about?
Rose is right...Creating a fighter IS FUN. It's just like RPGs. You just have a certain number of points and you use them to get skills. Like, higher points for better skills, and less points for cheap skills. I think you guys are overreacting....

If every RPG-Create-a-Char-Game was that cheesy, then no one would play them. Virtua Fighter is THAT. Virtua Fighter. A big fat reason to introduce that mode is the simple fact that characters have almost no story.

Look at MGS2. No one would guess that they would take out Snake for almost the entire game. Someone would just say: "MGS without snake is not MGS!". Well...Snake is there, but more like a "father/teacher" than a playable hero.

Same thing applies for VF chars. You could include them in your Custom Character Training. Honestly, that would make the game tremendously interesting.

There's a big POINT though....The game would have to be perfectly made so there would be no abuse...maybe some update system from Sega would prevent that.. And Hard Drive for PS2 + Online would also solve that, I think.

I still think creating a fighter would be fun but most people would make a cheap character. I would still love to have it in the game but i think scrubs would abuse it.

    C'mon people

who the hell says that you would be able to create an unbalanced character? i have played sports games where you can create a player within certain boundaries. for example if you add too much mass then your dex/agility goes down. too much dex/agility then your mass goes down. seeing as how VF is the king of sensible fighting i think that such safe guards would be implemented. that way you could have a good fighter without running the risk of making them into the "GOD OF FISTS!" or some other such nonsense. and it's good to see i'm not the only one who would like to see a No Mercy style fighter edit system in VF. trust me people it could work. and one more thing, just cos you max out your stats in NO Mercy didn't mean you were invincible. you could still get schooled if the pther player knew what they were doing. or if you played on max difficulty and got too cocky.

Great idea if you could only customize appearance instead of moves. Of course you could also add on to this by saying you could have 10 moves that are equal to your 12 frame high, and low. Etc.

Personally I think AM2 is going to release new characters for final tuned, they always seem to ad characters for the new installments, although they don't always immediatley hit the toptier list, i think we should expect new faces.

I've played such games - they are a lot of fun. It is not unbalancing- like others said, there are parameters within you have to work with. E.g., if you use up your resources giving a char say a really good mid move, you may not have enough resources to give the char a good throwing game.

However, from the same, here's what I've learned- eventually, some formula for the optimal character design is developed and established within the community, and everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, is playing that optimal design, or some slight variation of it, esp on tournament levels. There will be no Giefs and Sims. Only Ryus and Kens.
