North UK VF thread

T 5

Ade definately deserved his 1. place in the Regionals, he had one of the hardest paths to the final and still did well.

(Mike came up to play but was beaten by a Bryan player called Rob in the Quarters...who Ade went on to beat in the Semis...Rob came 3rd overall).

Tag has a fairly stromg scene here too, there are far more people who play it than VF /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif) plus they're actually very strong players at it too on other games it can be a mixed bag.

I hate the sticks too but after seeing guys like Mike (and a guy called Shehzad) wavedashing and getting electrics out no problem with Kazuya then I know that it's possible even on those joke sticks.

To the north crew, I'll let you all know when I'll hold the next meet soonish (I'll give you a chance to get used to the stick Shaun!).

If I'm being perfectly honest, the standard was average at best, although their ARE decent players in Manchester, just not too many!

The highest rank I've been on is 4th Dan, although I've only just started my Wang card (who I used in the tournie) and have just got to 1st Dan with him (about 50 games so far). I'm a bit of an item's whore TBH LOL, I've bought nearly EVERY colour for Paul's Biker outfit (on my second card with him).

The highest rank at the TC so far is Shinan, which is what Iron Mike is on I think. Those stick's are awful, I wouldn't even attempt use a mishima on those sticks, it's all about ffbb character's IMHO.

The one saving grace at the TC is that it's 3 credit's for a £1. I don't know how you London boy's put up with £1 a credit, that's a lot of cash IMHO.

 

Tekken 5

The only reason only a few of the Manc players are out of the Dans is because everyone is so even...too many players can get to 5/6/7th dan or whatever but lose it all in an afternoon amongst the rest of the group and go back to 3rd or 4th or whatever.

When all players are capable of beating all others they play against, (and it's £1 for 3 credits!) ranking becomes like a see-saw game!

I actually think the best player in Manchester is orignally from London, (student) and he doesn't even have a card!

T5's a Wicked game, but when is Troc getting FT? I'm looking forward to that much more than the T5 final! LOL.

Nice one on your win mate, Tekken scene seems nice and healthy in the UK, shame we can't have more people try VF out.

Getting Tekken head's into VF

I've tried my hardest to get some of the Manchester Tekken head's into VF, but it's like preaching to the converted TBH.

As good as T5 is, it's still not as good as Tag IMHO, the damage on the game is absolutely ridiculous, much higher than in 3 or Tag, and the games only been out for a few months. Still, it won't stop me enjoying my slimline PS2 though /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif (actually I want an Xbox instead, but I doubt they'll swop). I'm lucky that I should be getting a lift to London for the T5 final, because you can only have a PS2 OR A return train ticket, not both, like all the other regional's! /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

T5 has also made me a proper skank VF player, can't stop rinsing Jacky and Sarah now in favour of my main Kage!

Looking forward to seeing all the London head's again (whenever the final is, the dates not announced yet!).

RAP stick for freeeeee

yesterday i ordered USA T5 box set for $99 +$20 shipping!!!

it comes with a limted edition (20,000) RAP Stick for Tekkens 10th aniversary!!!

so when it comes the VAT/customs charge will only be 20 or so percent of $99 which is only like £57, i think it will only be £15 tops, so thats T5 AND a Rap Stick all under £75!!!!!

and the thing is i have already sold the game for £75

haha

this game snuck up on peeps fast as i sware they delayed it to mar31st!

they only announced it was coming out this friday with the stick a few days ago!!!

and slimade, i donno who uses who these days at t5, i dont play the game, even going to the ATEI arcade show for freeplay T5 didnt help, thos sticks are devilish!

but hell when i get T5 burned i'll play it with the F.R.E.E. RAP stick

I asked Mike the other day when he was down the other day, totally forgot he said Bryan, Steve, Law and Nina are the 'top tier's'.

Still, at least I'm gonna get T5 for free, does that game bundle come with Tekken 1,2 and 3? (Arcade Perfect?).

We have a big ranking competition every 2 weeks in London, I've only seen a couple of other VF players playing T5 there though.

About the stick, I've seen 2 different T5 sticks one standalone advertised as RAP style and the one in the bundle which looks different and which could just be a regular Hori at that price.

or theres the Tekken 10th annieversary Rap stick that comes with the $99 boxset!

#1:OG RAP stick with green buttons/silver metal face
#2:Capcom Fighting Jam RAP stick with 2 colour buttons/Ryu and that new girl face plate
#3:Tekken 5 RAP stick, red buttons with "TEKKEN 5" face plate
#4:RAP stick with different button layout with blue buttons/white face plate
#5:same stick but red buttons/black face and all sanwa parts

i was gonna get the capcom jam one as i could easyly put ES at the end, but i kinda knew there would be some tekken deal coming out, but i didnt know it would be that good.

Yeah, finding a VF player up here (or anywhere in UK for that matter) is like the opening 5 minutes of Day of the Dead..."Hello??? Helllooooo?" (where the human survivors are VF heads and the zombies are all SC2/Tekken/DOA heads haha)

Oh btw, to the regulars up here, I've got another VF player for our meets! And he lives fairly local up here, uses Lion (his name is Kaworu on Tekken Zaibatsu). He plays loads of other fighters as well and VF isn't his main game but at least it's one more name to add to our League of Justice and Truth LMAO.

/versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif That's around 4 VF players that live here then!!! Coupled with Will, the Elite trio and Dan, leagues should be harder fought in future.

On a comical note, bought Tekken 2/SoulBlade for £5 new in Gamestation last night, funny to see that Jennys arcade still has one form of these games still going now!


Oh and on a further random funny note, the guy in front of me in gamestation was trading in a sega saturn with stick (totally butchered) and light gun for something and about 16 games (as well as other stuff). LOL he was bartering with the staff for ages about what price he should get for them (wanted the cash), reckon he only walked off with about £15 hahaha

Chris, I don't know if I will bother coming to the next meeting, coz I am still getting used to the stick. I can watch stance perfectily now, but I mess the combos up alot!

Thing is , I STILL see Tekken as my second game next to VF (Admitedley I will be rinsing T5 this weekend if I get it, that is! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

Shaun, you should still come to the next meet, it's not like there's million's of VF players around is it? Hope you and Andy make it. (Whenever it is!).

EDIT: Chris, could you put the Samurai Hair back on my ninja? Cheers. I'll start a Julia and Feng card on T5 (if it is possible, Namco have copied almost every other aspect of VF for T5 /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

Thats dedication! I mean, you are obviously better at Tekken that you are at VF (may have something to do with the fact that Tekken is an easier game), but you still have VF as your primary game.
As for the next meeting, I will have to see about coming, coz I don't want to spend £30 coming to a gathering, only to get whooped because I can't do any moves!
If my inputs are more accurate when the time comes, then I will definately be there, coz I will want to try out my new stick!
(Ade, do you actually have a RAP? I can't believe how nice it looks!!!).
